Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
-
That's 6 letters. The R is in the correct place, if that helps.
-
That's what I meant by NG Solstice having multiple body styles. Whether they are all designed similarly and/or have the name Solstice could be a different story. Still no one has figured out what five-letter word starts with T and ends with A?
-
I don't think any Camrys will be cutting you off in that
-
I don't think I'd worry about the suspension upgrades if you want it so that you have something to drive in the winter. You're not going to be feelin the difference when you're driving on snow. I guess if you want it for the summer too then maybe it would make sense, but a performance car in the snow just doesn't make sense to me. The GTO is being garaged whenever there is the slightest bit of snow on the ground.

Currently, a loaded SS runs right under $31k. If we just say that the platform, engines, and transmissions will cost the same (and I'm guessing the platform will be more expensive) and add in some options that the new one should have that the current one doesn't such as AWD and NAV, we're looking at $35k if you just add those two I fear. Unless somehow they're going to offer more equipment for the same price, then I see it pushing $35k for a loaded SS. Now where does that put the G8 and NG Lucerne? Farther upscale? I guess the G8 will be smaller and appeal to a different crowd, but I see a lot of overlap between the Buick and Impala if it goes to $35k.

We know GM has 3 more debuts than they have listed. A hybrid SUV (have we seen the hybrid Yukon?), probably the VUE, and something else other than the Enclave.

Unless the EPII G6 has been canceled (and as recently as about a week ago I know it hadn't been) then Pontiac will certainly be more than a one-line brand. They'll have the G8, G6, and NG Solstice. The NG Solstice will certainly have some other body styles. For instance, one of them just may be a five-letter word that starts with a T and ends with an A. Can anyone guess what it is? :AH-HA_wink:

2006 New England International Auto Show

How was the Acadia? -
I'd say so, but we already knew that anyways. I think GM will be able to milk more sales out of a larger FWD Malibu that will cater to both current Malibu and Impala buyers and a new RWD Impala that will cater to everyone who has been dying for GM to bring RWD back and the increased sales to taxis, police departments, and other fleet agencies. EDIT: Also, the Impala should not move too far upscale. If it goes to $35k, where does that leave the Pontiac and Buick sedans? If we have a Chevy going up to $35k and a Cadillac starting at $35k (CTS), why would anyone choose a mildly-optioned Buick or a slightly more optioned Pontiac over a fully-loaded luxurious Chevy or a base NG CTS?
-
Why did it have to be replaced? If it was under a certain mileage (10k I think) it should have still been under warranty.
-
I would be surprised if the SS SC gets a big discount. I actually drove a regular SS to the gas station once and it had plenty of power from the 2.4. I would actually recommend looking into one of those unless you just have to have the 30 extra horses. You'll save a good bit of money by doing so.

No! This is terrible. If someone ran into the GTO so stupidly I might have to wring their neck!
-
Notice he said IMHO. You don't have to agree with him, but you have to respect his opinion. Some people don't like the brash, in-your-face look of the Ram, and he's probably one of those people. The headlights of the Ram are certainly ugly if nothing else.

The one in the Torrent and Equinox is an Aisin produced 5-speed.
-
The dark blue one looks ok, but dark blue or black should look good on most trucks. The other colors don't look very good at all.
-
This is the engine that should be standard in the Torrent. If they want a GXP, it needs to have 300+HP.
-
Well I know my brother who is a pretty good athlete was doing this class to gain speed and jumping ability and he fell off the treadmill, but it was also because they had it set to see how long he could run 19mph for. Also, a normal barbell is 45lbs I'm taking weight training and conditioning next semester.
-
Partially correct. The Chevy is ugly in some of the cheap trims, but it looks good in the LT and LTZ trims (I have only seen an LTZ in person, and it looked nice). The Tundra, on the other hand, looks ugly in every trim.
-
There's lots of stuff I'd like to see, but what I'd really like to see is that everything GM shows is world-class.
-
Leather on the dash? Try leather everywhere! The only thing I see that isn't on the center stack and isn't a genuine material (leather wood, aluminum) is possible the glove box, but I can't tell either way.

How is this an example of not being bias? If they compared the Avalon to the Lucerne and the Lucerne did everything better and they picked the Avalon, that would be bias. This doesn't have anything to do with CR's opinions.

First the Chinese LaCrosse, now this (the interior is great!): Cadillac showcases new SLS at Auto China 2006 Detroit -The General Motors China Group recently reported another sales record for the first nine months of 2006 (645,680 vehicles). These record sales are driven by Buick (+ 27.8 percent), Chevrolet (+51.0 percent), Cadillac (+27.1 percent) and Wuling (+38.7 percent), China's number one brand of mini-vehicles. At "Auto China 2006", this year's international motor show in Beijing, Shanghai GM is showcasing new models such as the Cadillac SLS and Escalade. In addition, an important new offering from the Wuling brand is to be premiered. Furthermore, GM concept cars such as the Saab Aero-X, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet WTCC Ultra will make their public debuts in China. GM's luxury brand, Cadillac has enjoyed remarkable success since its introduction to the China luxury market in 2004. The Cadillac China portfolio, consisting of the CTS sedan, the XLR roadster and the SRX crossover, will now be complimented with the all-new SLS and the Escalade SUV. Based on the STS sport sedan, the SLS has been lengthened by 100mm to add rear seat legroom. The interior is designed to meet specific local needs in this primarily chauffeur-driven luxury segment. Three engine options will be available which include the 2.8L V6, a 3.6L V6 and the top-level Northstar 4.6L V8 with 239kW/320hp. The new SLS will be built at the Shanghai GM plant for the Chinese market. "The Cadillac SLS is a very important addition to our line-up in China as it meets very specific market needs," said Jim Taylor, general manager of Cadillac. "Cadillac reacts to country specific requirements and is proud to offer the SLS to Chinese luxury customers who demand extra space in the rear and other features." Earlier this year, Cadillac introduced the new BLS sedan in Europe and other international markets to satisfy the need for a smaller Cadillac model and a turbodiesel engine option. "The Cadillac SLS is a strategic addition for the Cadillac brand in China, which will enable Cadillac to strengthen its presence in the luxury sedan market," said Mr. Ding Lei, president of Shanghai GM. "The new Cadillac SLS and Escalade as well as the new offering from Wuling will strengthen our position as the market leader in China. GM's multi-brand approach in China enables us to successfully compete in all important segments of the fastest growing market in the world. I am looking forward to finishing 2006 as another year of record growth for GM in China," said Kevin Wale, president and managing director of the GM China Group.

Unfortunately our governor was not ousted from office. He's a scumbag and has been in numerous scandals already (currently he is under investigation by the FBI), and it's his first term. He won by 320k votes, but his margin in Chicago was 395k... F Chicago.
