  1. although along the same lines, i did sample a last generation sunfire as a rental once. it was a horrid little thing. rail crossings practically sent it into an Irish jig.
  2. I must agree about the last-gen N-bodies. They got a bad rap, but they were pretty neat little cars.
  3. that. is. just. sex on wheels. have I mentioned how jealous I am?
  4. rock on!
  5. I would have thought it was because of the Olympics. Damn you indeed, Simon Cowell.
  6. 90's era T-birds give me a fuzzy feeling inside, as did the Mk VIII. The Cougars of that era, not so much. Oddly enough though, for the previous versions, i liked the T-Boids and the Cougars and didn't care for the Lincolns. I would say the Fox-platformed Fairmont, based on the fact that they're RWD compact sedans...but every one I've ever seen was an unmitigated pile of junk.
  7. GORGEOUS and CLEAN '65 Stingray coupe, baby blue on black, small block, side pipes. my heart ached longingly for it. soooo badly.
  8. I'd love to have been able to have met him, but alas. Rest in Peace, Cowboy. also don't forget the biggest thing he did with Chrysler: It was probably the closest Shelby--or anybody for that matter--came to recreating the iconicity of the original Cobra.
  9. Yes, I think POPS is newer than 2006, but I'd have to double check that. And, how did you map it? I bought SEVERAL books, but the most-helpful was the "EZ Guide", which gives turn by turn directions and detailed maps to guide you on taking all the different alignments that you won't know are 66, unless you research and dig into it. I've been wanting to do a full non-stop Rt66 trip since i was in high school, so that shows you how long I've been trying to set this up. also is there one alignment that's more well-known than others or more recent, or whatever? or would a full trip constitute following several different alignments just to stay on the road? nothing is unnavigable in the right vehicle. very true.
  10. yesterday: '13 Mustang GT/CS convertible; white, blacked-out rear decklid valence. pretty slick. today: brand new Porsche 991 cabrio, identified it as a Carrera S once it passed me. spoiler up too; very brilliant bright light silver. i mean if there was a true metallic white, that was it.
  11. interesting... I mean I like the current one (moreso than the previous one), but I loved the Z3. So if they make it more like the Z3, I'm aboard.
  12. I would have loved to see that.
  13. I'm a little excited to see how the ATS stacks up against the 3-series (since Motor Trend decided to make the Regal GS it's last-place-lamb last month). The ATS benchmarked the E46 M3 in development, but the F30 is also trying to go back and capture some of that lost ride/handling/balance magic the E46 had too. But what I'm really waiting (im)patiently for is the eventual ATS-V/F30 M3 comparo. I've always loved the M3, but I'm more than a little excited that there will exist a CADILLAC that can take it on.
  14. I've done years of research, yes, but still haven't gotten the whole puzzle quite as well put together as you do. I still have a few pieces missing, even after all these years. plus, with research comes conflicting reports that I can't always investigate; especially if they're several states away.
  15. I'm wondering how much more power-efficient it would be as opposed to an actual exhaust-driven turbine.
  16. I must admit though, I would like to see this SS sedan make production, possibly with a coupe variant, but that's probably pushing it. Still, it'd be nice.
  17. It's also not as if we haven't been teased with this a million times before (I'm speaking specifically of the El Camino), and at one point had it harshly retracted just before it reached our grasp. They've cried wolf far too many times; the promises are starting to lose their edge.
  18. wouldn't that just technically be a supercharger?
  19. Wow you must have learned old school with the heel on the brake while appling gas. In a level parking lot, release the brake and apply gas and slowly release the clutch so it slips and you get forward motion... I live in California though. Level ground is a luxury, especially the farther you get inland (though it's still not as bad as, say the Bay Area; SF's roads kinda scare me lol). So heel-toeing (or having feet quicker than gravity) is an invaluable skill for me. If you do live in a more level place, you won't have to worry so much about that, and you can get away with ignoring the brake without worry of rolling back or forward.
  20. step one: press in both brake and clutch. step two: turn ignition key until engine fires. step three: make sure you are in the correct gear. step four: whilst keeping your right heel on the brake, feed in the throttle with your right toes and slowly feed out the clutch pedal with your left foot.as you're doing that, release grip on the brake with left heel and slowly transfer entire left foot to gas pedal.... step five: you've done it too fast, and that violent lurching was the clutch slipping and the engine coughing until it's passed out, and the car is once again off. start over from step one. seriously, though, it sounds like a sweet heart. I'm hearing some good things about it. Edmonds IL did a review of the Rallye and they were rather impressed by it.

  22. I've seen the wagon in silver, but I never saw the coupe before. I'm hoping to come across a single sometimes soon, but MBs are starting to become moribund, especially around here, so I worry I may not find one.
  23. you can find them at Toys R Us too; in fact that's the only place I've been able to find them.
  24. I also saw a MB ten pack with a black CTS coupe in it; license plate says "Stealth." The pack was labeled "First editions," so I'm assuming that means all the cars in that pack are new. Anybody know if that CTS is available as a single anywhere? It doesn't matter what color it is; I'm planning on Frankensteining it into a V coupe, so the paint will likely get stripped anyway (I'm painting it black myself).
