  1. I actually like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-C...1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. I'm runnning for my checkbook. This is an actual kit some sick mind developed for the El Camino(they call it the Studemino). I just don't know what they were smoking... and I don't want any.
  3. hyper knows whereof he speaks.
  4. What did you you do with the Datsun? Throw it in the water after the truck? edit: oops! misread your post. So, you tossed the Q in?! for beer? I know you don't like Japanese cars but, wow! That's some expensive Coors.
  5. Can anyone say "critical mass"? To the naysayers:
  6. HMM, could be time for an "I Told You So!"
  7. I may auction the car at Carlisle with the others if it doesn't sell before then.
  8. I was just kidding,68. Maseratis aren't meant to be daily drivers. :AH-HA_wink:
  9. Message from one of the "Elders": I think you should buy my Maserati - it fits your personality. :AH-HA_wink:
  10. I couldn't agree more, but it wasn't possible. Holden didn't have the capacity at the time, the UAW would have screamed bloody murder, and the FTA wasn't in place yet. There should have been a plan to build the car here in place and ready to go before the cancellation of the F-body twins. It would have made all of that possible. BTW: your screen name has me wondering if you've been doing a little custom work on an early Impala. :AH-HA_wink:
  11. American: It contains all of the above.
  12. I'm getting alot of great info. from around the web on this idea and it's looking more do-able all the time.
  13. That thing is the ultimate in Cop Bait.
  14. People and boundaries are a funny combination.
  15. Sir! Put the sawzall down and step away from the car!
  16. My 1987 CCC El CaminoSS was my first brand new car. I used to call the guy who bought it once a year to be sure he still had it. Last I heard, it still had less than 20k on it and lived in a heated garage under a cover. I'll post a bunch of pics once I get my scanner. I will miss that car forever.
  17. Well, if you don't like the looks - no biggie. Many people seem to though, I get "nice car" and smiles and other positive reactions from total strangers all the time with mine. Not that it matters much, I fell in love with the car the first time I drove one. I don't spend a ton of time looking at it but I like the look. The real payoff is driving it and listening to the exhaust. Actually, I'd love to see you do the Lemans project you laid out - sounds like it would be fun. You'd have to prove the rest of it to me though. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the '05 GTO might stay a bit more expensive than you think a few years out, but I'm glad to hear you say you'd buy one.
  18. Turn the hubs?! You must have gotten a REAL Blazer, not one of those little S-10 thingys.
  19. Nice find,Northie. The price isn't too bad if the electronics are included. The LS7 lists for 14k
  20. I looked into doing just that for my GTO and it would be the cheaper way. I'd like to find a real factory LS6 though, complete with the Corvette engine covers.
  21. Don't think for a minute that this idea hasn't already crossed my twisted mind. I actually did a little "cut and paste" with a 2 page ad for the '94 Impala SS when it first came out. Yeah, i'm a little when it comes to the El Camino.
  22. That's what you would think, but the bed has lots of structural steel that the coupe doesn't. I first read about this in an old review of an SS396 El Camino (I think it was Car craft magazine). And guess what, the wagon is even better. Ever hear of Long Roof Racing?
  23. Well, I did leave that up to interpretation, didn't I? I could find a '70 and build it to LS6 spec or buy a real LS6 El Camino, but the first would be a fake (clone) which I hate, and the second would require a mortgage. So, I'm thinking low-buck (relatively) this go-round. I've located a real '76 El Camino SS without a drivetrain and some front-end damage that can be had pretty cheap. This is a car that really needs better than the anemic 350 that it was born with so I'm thinking a Zo6 LS6 would change its personality and not leave me in the poorhouse.
  24. An El Camino actually has better weight distribution than a Chevelle due to the extra sheetmetal used in the construction of the bed. :AH-HA_wink:
  25. Actually building a car to match my screen name. :AH-HA_wink:
