  1. Big time... ... It would make an infinite amount of sense for you...although I thought you were out of the car loan thingie forever... I don't know about infinite, but it might make some sense. And, yeah, no loan. That's why I'm checking them out now, so I can plan a cash purchase a couple of years down the road.
  2. Built a couple more on their website. If I did this, I'd probably opt for the "S". That would mean no body color top or new fancy wheels. Pretty basic, priced out below 28k.
  3. I know, but it isn't my thing. If I wanted that, I'd buy a convertible performance car. And I hate riding in a soft top Jeep with the top on.
  4. If I ever got one, it would have the hard top and the top would stay on all the time.
  5. Yeah, I'm liking that look.
  6. Lets just say that their street manners left something to be desired.
  7. Not when they had a new engine in the same platform like they do now. And the Crossfire debuted just a few years prior to the C-4, so it was rather new at the time - lousy, but new. No, the more I think about this the more I think this is a new LT 5.3 .
  8. GM often puts a new powerplant in an old bodystyle, but I don't remember them ever doing the reverse.
  9. Just a thought, but what if the 5.3 they are talking about is based on the LT-1 and might be a new truck engine? Perhaps the LS-based 5.3 isn't in the game anymore? EDIT: Or might it be intended for an ATS V, or other Alpha (Camaro) ?
  10. And I guess I ought to say this at this point in the discussion. I'm fine with a 400HP 5.3 as long as it costs thousands less. Not sure how dramatic GM can be with the pricing here, but I'd hope to be shocked at how low they can go. EDIT: The things is, as Dwight pointed out earlier in the thread, GM won't be saving any money by using the 5.3. So how this happens, I have no clue.
  11. I've driven those Wranglers, and let's just say I don't have much appreciation for their quirks (though they looked good). I also drove a newer one (circa 2005 or so) that was much better.
  12. Pretty much how I'm seeing things. My suggestion was to use the SCCA-prep code from the Solstice (ZoK).
  13. The BMW is sharp. The others, well...
  14. I suppose so. Not sure if a Wrangler is worth that much to me
  15. I'd have to take a bit more time to spec them all out, but it looks like what I'd want would come in at around 30k.
  16. Sorry, should have noted that it was the Rubicon that forced the option.
  17. Did a couple of quick builds on the Jeep site. A Wrangler-S that came in at 28+k, and a Rubicon that was 35K. Curiously, you get stuck with 4.10 gears with a manual, the 3.73s are automatic only.
  18. And, will the 2-door survive?
  19. I just know that in the near future my life is very likely to fundamentally change. Probably in just a very few years, everything will be different - and I'll be wanting different vehicle(s).
  20. That would get very expensive very quickly. At this point, I only have a mild interest in the Wrangler.
  21. Too bad. I liked that configuration.
  22. I'm guessing that the long wheelbase 2-door "Unlimited" no longer exists, right?
  23. I totally despise the 4-door - it just looks so... wrong. I'm clutching at straws a bit here, just trying to find something new that I can even be marginally interested in. Interestingly, same dealer also had a Ram 1500 shortbed 4x4 and a Challenger R/T also in the low-mid 30s.
  24. It was a Rubicon. The cheapest I saw was a soft top with an auto @ 30k Not many base offerings around here on lots. I wouldn't want an auto nor a soft top.
