  1. I think the basic idea behind this is the fact that foreing automakers such as Toyota and Honda are more advanced in production of hybrid and fuel efficient vehicles because they don't have to pay for health care for their employees in their country. This is cheaper for them and can put more money towards production and devellopement of fuel efficient vehicles. The big 3 on the other had is said to be lagging behind in those technologies and production due to the fact that they have huge health care expensive and that makes it unfair when compared to other automotive giants such as Toyota and Honda. The government thinks that by granting the big 3 health care, then they can concentrate expenses on fuel eficiency and advancing technologies and bring it to the dealership lots faster than before. Well we all know how it works, what goverment gives, must be taken from somewhere else......... what these companies receive, will most likely cause some money laundring scandals..... and where do we get with all of this? Back to square one.... If the plan worked on the other hand, we could have easier acces to ethanol fuels and better fuel efficiency out of our cars. Guess we'll just have to sit and wach what hapens, and in the mean time make our own arrangements for being efficient on fuel.... (hence some people convert their diesels to fry oil burning engines... some just stick to less cylinders under the hood)
  2. Wow, that is nice. I already love the Avalanche already but this would be a nice avalanche update.
  3. From an article on itv-motoring.com Saab's New Diesel by David Morgan (26 Sep 05) Saab could be the first European manufacturer to hit the market with a "boxer" turbodiesel engine. The alliance between Saab and Subaru which created the Impreza-based Saab 9-2X for the US market is about to signal the return of the 96 badge in Europe - and it looks set to be their first 4x4 SUV with a horizontally-opposed diesel power plant. By late 2007 British Saab drivers will be able to order the Swedish car maker's first crossover 4x4 - the Saab 9-6X. The all-wheel drive five-door will be closely related to the Subaru B9 Tribeca (pictured) which is built in Indiana and has been on sale throughout North and South America for the past few months. Saab's upmarket version will be individually styled inside and out, but power and drivelines are strictly Subaru. The first Saab 9-6X models will be powered by the same three-litre flat-six petrol injection engine used in the current Subaru Legacy 3.0R. The 241bhp power plant will be linked to a five-speed automatic gearbox driving a Subaru 4x4 transmission system and mounted on a modified Legacy platform featuring a revised multilink rear suspension. But the big news is that the three-litre petrol boxer engine will not be alone. Saab and Subaru have been working closely to develop a boxer turbodiesel which is likely to debut in the 9-6X as a flat-four or flat-six. Industry sources say Saab have been working with Porsche engineers in an effort to advance the design of a horizontally-opposed turbodiesel engine. The German firm's expertise in extracting high outputs from petrol-fuelled boxer layouts has apparently proved useful in creating an oil-burner with a sporting character. The 9-6X is due to make its UK debut around the same time as Subaru introduce their Tribeca to Britain. But the SUVs will have individual styling and features, although both are expected to be available in five- and seven-seat guise.
  4. Yep! work in a call centre as well for Bell express-vu (Bell is a canadian landline, cell, internet, tv provider. Express-vu is the tv service) And when they get realy pissed, they think they can speak to the director or the president...... they think we have a fucking direct line to those dudes..... Exec's have better shit to do in their day than pickup the damn phone to a complaint because of billing!~!@#$ Shit that is discuused in the store with all these creddits and everything avail for a low price...... always turns out different when they call us. The dudes in the store say anything to make a fucking sale and we get to deal with the bull shit!
  5. I'd go for a 1999 or 2000 olds Alero 2.4L with 5 spd. Other than that, I would also consider the HHR with the 2.4L engine as well, or a 4 banger G6. For cost reasons, I'd go for the Alero...... I like the 2.4 better than the 2.2 ecotec. Has better low end grunt. They offered the 2.4 only in the 1999 and 200 then switched to the 2.2 for the reaminder of the production years. If I had some dough, I'd definately go straight for the HHR with the 2.4 and eventualy add a turbocharged setup.
  6. This was exactly my thought when I first saw it. They wanted to upgrade the interior to more modern look but failed to incorporate a matching stereo. Just the same thing as every other GM vehicle built for that model year. Also, what's the deal with cheaping out on the SID? No SID, no heater display......... just a simple and cheap display under the spedometer. Looks like all the same options you would find on a Chevy cobalt with leather seats....... just on a biger scale and under the saab badge for 25000$ more. Fucking money grab!

    HHR on TLC

I realy like year one's HHR (interesting choice of an engine with nice colours) as well as Darkside's. I like the idea of a turbo ecotec as well as the LED back lights. Unique performance has a realy nice hood and a nice V-8 as well but I don't like how they redid the whole dash and an absolute ugly gauge cluster. For every day use I'd go for Darkside. For a shop vehicle to deliver parts and go to performance events I'd like the year one HHR. The very last one is nice and has a good idea with the BBQ and the weed eater motor powered blender.... but the vehicle is un-practicle since it has no backseats and didn't seem to have modified the engine at all because there were no engine shots. I realy like the HHR but I wish it was available in rear wheel drive or all wheel drive with the option of a turbo 2.4L engine. That would be my favourite.
  8. Out of these posts, I think you are mostly on the right track...... Allot of technology is coming from europe and if we just toss them in the back seat, we will be allot slower at catching up to competition. If they were to give saab more money and power over their engineering, they could pump out some amazing things! but that is for GM to decide of course..... They are slowly taking away bit by bit essential links that makes saab a saab and some of those links include product devellopement and advancement. They will not be able to advance in technology if they arent given the resources and allowances to do so. UUURRRGGGGGGGG  GM could learn allot from their european brands..... holden as well has some interesting things....
  9. Man, ditch the subaru and use this as your next rebadged SAAB SUV.........GM, take this advice!
  10. I'll show mine when I get home....... I tried doing the one from my work computer but it wont work....
  11. Yeah, well, my story kinda follows the rest...... fought it for a while andtried convincing myself "I must like women!" but eventualy I gave up and became prety much......gay.... but I still find ladies hot and still ponder about having a family someday...... so I chose the second last one where I prefer guys most..... ummmm, ya..... well that's it
  12. Just as I was reading your post, I was thinking the same thing because I am gay too  I also read your previous post about how guys notice the flamy people more and us straighter looking guys get no attention..... that is so true! btw, I never thought I would find a conversation like this one on C&G! ^_^
  13. I think that ditching the plastic pannels is a mistake because allot of the old saturns are still around simply because they have no rust and are easyer to maintain because of this. I know a fiew people that have saturns and have had saturn's in the past and not one spot of rust. This is one quality they cannot eliminate from saturn! I find it essential to the brand!
  14. Renting is ridiculous............ I wish I had a morgage........ I pay 899$ for a 2 bedroom appartment with a back yard Toronto, ontario...... in the east end near ajax (some of you may reffer to it as Scarborough)
  15. I would rather them come out with the Jeep Gladiator...... I could see myself buying one of those, not this commander....
  16. I totaly agree with this review and have thought this ever since the 9-2x came out. Honestly, if GM wants to pass up a subaru as a Saab, they could at least go 100% and give it a genuine Saab interior. Ok, fine, don't need to re-mold a new dash, but at least give it some saab vents, a Saab steering wheel (not a subaru one with a saab badge) give us a Saab "font" styled gauge cluster, give us the Saab seats, not Subaru seats as they are very cheap and feel like nothing but a wire mesh carcase with cushions and cloth. That is the most embarasing. A saab needs to have either nice velour or thick leather surfaces. If GM infused a bit of cash, they could even slightly redesign the rear hatch and the angle it is set at to look more like a saab with the thick tapering pillar at the back. Last but not least, replace the freaking subaru engine with a B202 engine from saab's inventory!!!! that would eliminate their low power issues..... they always talk of saab's turbocharging heritage, well this is a subaru turbocharged system and not a saab one. Get that thing out of there and put in what is true to saab. Over and Out.
  17. ooops, that's not a wagon?
  18. Choices as follows 1st: 6 2nd: 5 3rd: 10 They were all nice, good work everyone! My 4th choice would be the reefer mobile!
  19. I like these statements...... showing effort, that's good........ ^_^ with this new platform, maybe they will incorporate awd options....... B) Now this is interesting as well.... a SAAB designer designing his last saab..... I wonder why his last? why an ex-saab designer? was he canned? did he quit? either way, its nice to get at leas 1 last genuine design and also another concept seems interesting!
  20. I agree, they need lots more funding put into Saab so they can raise a nice refined breed of vehicles for the next generation of cars that come out from Saab.
  21. Being in GM's shoes, I would have redirected the 250 mil spent on the Caddy BLS (set for europe) and spent it on a brand new and very well deserved 9-5 with an AWD capable platform to compete with the likes of the G35 AWD and audi. As for powertrain, they have bumped up the 2.3L High o/p Turbo 4 banger to 260HP and not shure of torque. All other engines remain the same as far as I know.... As for the facelift, well the car needed to be redone overall with the 250 mil. but this is seems like another of those act before you think brain farts that GM seems to have.....
  22. I like this! It would be nicer if you replaced the infiniti logo for the Viggen logo!
  23. What about this heavily moded and widened Saab c900.... just saw it yesterday...... I like it!
  24. Interesting..... <_<
