  1. Mags, I'm a first time poster but long time reader. Just not sure where I fit in. Big on hiphop, style, MF and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Drive a Nissan with a CVT. Used to drive a G6 which should be deep sixed. I'm all that but try not ps ppl off that are not all that. Don't have any respect for hairless people. Gotta have hair to go with the Armani. You want it? I've got it - great clothes, great hair, great taste. Haven't been laid in 6 months, but working on that right now. I live somewhere wealthy, which might be a townhouse in the city, a happening place. I've got the avatar and the posts to go with it. Hell, I've even got my own blog now. Can you help me figure out which category I fit in? Thx man. MF
  2. Sour grapes or just an off-the-scale case of intense denial? MIT-startup with DARPA funding? You be the judge. Simply because you have absolutely zero credibility when it comes to what GM actually has accomplished, perhaps sitting back and enjoying this as it unfolds might be the very best prescription?
  3. Prius Schmius The real hero is the best looking car Toyota ever made. Yeah, the Echo, that's right. The car that should be burned into every Toyota addict's raving lunatic mind. Tatooed on every Toyonerd shoulder. Illuminated in bright lights in Nagoya. Come on, admit it. When you think heroic, your mind automatically drifts right to the Echo. Clint Eastwood - Shooting the Echo. James Dean - Smashing the Echo. Arnold Schwarzenegger crushing the Echo with his H1. John Wayne - Putting the Echo out of it's misery. Back on topic - Prius is stank. The Volt, if properly executed, will change the entire automobile market and society with it. The article snipes about 400 lbs of battery but forgets to add that there will be no transmission. The article snidely omits that, for about 80% of the populace, only electricity will be required for the daily commute. The article includes the requisite beligerent quote from a Toyota executive He forgets to mention that, according to Toyota, the Prius of tomorrow will still be strapped down with Nickel batteries. At least the article mentions that GM is going to bring about something in one year that took Toyota five long years to achieve. So much for the comparison to the mighty <sounds like a suppository> Prius-Stank. Oh, the injustice of it all. As an impartial, if slightly-biased import fan, it really looks like GM has a great chance at capturing this market and the hearts and minds of the North American public and the world at large (outside of Nagoya anyway).
  4. ROYAL OAK, Mich, Aug 17 (Reuters) - The top executive at General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday that if the recent strengthening of the Japanese currency continues, it would represent "a huge change in competitiveness" for U.S. automakers. Rick Wagoner, the automaker's chief executive, said that he would like to see the yen in the 90-100 range versus the U.S. dollar because such a level "would dramatically change" the competitive landscape. Article continues at link... http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews...20070817?rpc=44
  5. The current Malibu was a big improvement over the '97 version. This looks like a quantum jump forward again. Is it enough to dethrone the Camry? The suspension will be head and shoulders above the 2-link abomination that is Camry. The six speed is world class. The 3.6 engine will match or exceed, rated top-end h.p. not withstanding. Even though real-world competitiveness is a given, will the advertised fuel economy match up? Here's hoping, especially with the revised 2008 EPA test methods. The interior? The Aura in-person is infinitely better than any press photos to-date. There is no reason to expect the Malibu will be any different. Overall, the new 'Bu is looking really good.
  6. Yes, sarcasm can be sublime. Yes, the Malibu looks great. Yes, the Aura also looks great. No. I don't care what anyone does with their Tercel in the privacy of their garage. However, Huntsville law enforcement likely does not share this viewpoint. I just checked my garage and found 4 GM vehicles therein, none with any signs of torture, abuse, or any unsightly stains. No, GM isn't going bankrupt any time soon. No, I don't prefer the parrot-beak-melted-dove-bar-import-purchased-by-lemmings look. Yes, I do believe the current Malibu Maxx is highly underrrated. Yes, I am looking forward to GM having a competitive mid-size-sedan-for-the-masses at a reasonable price, with a 2.4L/6 speed combination. No, I certainly did not forget rule #6. Did anyone else?
  7. The Malibu will never and I repeat never be anything close to the Camry. Never. Ever. Not even with the benefit of epochs of time. It just doesn't have the nose for it.
  8. Well, hopefully the new Malibus offer Toyota-resistant bumpers.
  9. It would really be a shame if this albatross garnered any of the copious Tundra-derision that fills the internet. Laughable. Horrible. Shameful. Well deserved. Toyota-smug.
  10. Absolutely, fantastically far beyond anything else on the market.. Undeniably a head-turner. Superlatives will roll forth in abundance for for this vehicle. Styling like we've never seen before. An instant classic. Just like the '79 Pacer all over again. A no-style ride fit for a ****ard.
  11. GM has already stated that a plug-in Vue will be available next year. The two-mode technology will be available this year. Still, Toyota soldiers on with the ungainly overhyped Prius. A one-trick pony that stops on highways, won't go in the snow, and doesn't even come close to EPA estimates. Well, at least the EPA estimate thing will be fixed this year. Prius? Definitely a great name for a suppository.
  12. Yeah. Here, let me help out. The four star safety rating did not result in a recall. Five lug nuts should be good enough for anyone. The exposed bolts in the bed help things slide out easier. Who needs rear doors that swing open 170 degrees? Wide swaths of hard silver plastic are durable. You're too short if you can't reach the radio controls five feet away. The camshafts blowing chunks has been blown all out of proportion. The larger panel gaps are there by design, to make it look tougher. Having a more flexible frame provides agility. The deals are bigBigBIG! $199 lease deals are available. Check your local Toyota dealer. See? Everything you were thinking under your breath but were too afraid to bring forward. Now you never need post here again! Problem solved. No thanks needed.
  13. Bob Lutz delivered on the Solstice. Bob Lutz delivered on GMT-900's. Bob Lutz delivered on the Acadia, Enclave, and Outlook. The CTS and and new Malibu are almost here. So to say that discounted Buicks will still end up in Joe Six pack's garage? Buicks in the garage? Yes. Buicks at Chevrolet prices? Nope. GM's got the mojo. So someone might want to listen a little more closely to what Maximum Bob has to say. Buick now has the Enclave. Add a Velite and/or a large, rwd, fuel efficient vehicle. Roadmaster or Riviera anyone? and people will be changing stories to explain skyrocketing Buick sales.
  14. What is it with all the Tundra hate? Even the Toyota faithful are beginning to dump on this beached whale. What this bloated monstrostity needs is a nickname, a fitting, proper nickname.......... Ultra-Flexframe. Four Stars is almost safe enough. Camshafts Exploding Everywhere! Thirty Five Hundred on the hood and counting. Mandrel bent sheetmetal makes great suspension parts. The truck for people with severe pyschosis. If you don't have it now, you will shortly. Captain, I can't give her any more cheap plastic. Five lug nuts are plenty - Now shuddup. We does so love the fake plastic hood scoop, my precious. And the most likely exchange between a Tundra owner and a sane person ????....... Are you laughing at me or my fake<censored>-truck????? (um..........both).
  15. There is something ultimate about that vehicle. Like a <night/weekend/lifetime> with <chose your ultimate person>. Or picking the winning lottery ticket <insert obscenely high dollar value here> That just reeks of being the best there is.
  16. What brainwashed slug made that commercial? Where's the salt? (I left one too)
  17. Great choice of words, especially when talking about the average Tundra buyer.
  18. balthazar - Yes. Exactly. Thank you very much for your cogent response. You are correct.
  19. hahahahahaha. So funny. Where have I heard your same schtick before? Same post different forum. No facts to back up your position. You just won't admit that GM has set the standard and Toyota just doesn't have the class to keep up. Blithe ignorance on your part or willing complacency? C&G readers can be the judge. Pick up any new Toyota technical engine literature? SAE J1349 Certified logo? Where? Where is this hidden mystical literature found? Not at toyota.com. Not at hinq.com Not at camshaftsbreaking.com Not at UnsoldTundrasDecayingontheLot.com Not at beigeinteriors.com Not even at toyotahumpers.com For crying out loud, just bring some facts and some references to back it up. Seriously, it's not at toyotahumpers.com.
  20. lol. Caught red-handed. I didn't come anywhere close to that article. I took one look at that piece (thread photo) and started blowing chunks. It reminded me so much of what they've done to the Camry - engineered all the luxury and craftsmanship out until nothing worth owning remains. Really, which other manufacturer throws in a two-link IRS and calls it acceptable? To the point of the photography, you are right on target. The stuff that's available on the net is much more typical Toyota. A floating sea of beige. Lifelike appendage beige. Cheesy old-school Toyota. Not certified for use with a snowplow Cheesy new-school Toyota. Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto.
  21. Give it time young paduan. Everyone who saw your Toyota pictures is blowing chunks right now. First a little recovery and lots of mopping up. Try www.sae.org, grab a login and look for your self. All GM. No Toyota. Power level 1 and 2. All GM. Now throw in a bit of reading, from a Dodge site no less..... http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showpost.p...amp;postcount=1 This has been confirmed from other sources as well. That is exactly what I was referring to in my earlier post. Toyota isn't operating at the higher standard. Toyota isn't posting certified numbers. Go ahead, show us the links to the Toyota Certified charts, we're still waiting. GM is defining that higher standard. If you want to criticize GM for understating F-body horsepower by 50, well that's legitimate. But to claim Toyota is operating at exactly the same high level as GM is simply not true.
  22. You cannot possibly make a decent argument for Toyota and now you're reduced to this? Your meltdown is most comical and bit pathetic. Usually, Toyota lovers go one or two rounds before losing humor. You lost it right from the start. Maybe you never had it? Likely it seems. SAE rated using the test method that is formally, independently verified as GM has done. No. All engine test results posted on the web where everyone can see. No. End of discussion. Talk to the hand. Come back again when your favorite lesser manufacturer has the goods.
  23. Really? Truly? You wouldn't lie about this would you? Surely if those lesser manufacturers are proud of their 210 200 196 horsepower engines, the should at least have the cahones to post their SAE test results on the web. I mean, yeah, it's tough to meet that higher standard that GM has set. And someday those lesser manufacturers "might" step up to the plate. But until then..... Still waiting. Himalayas turned to flatland waiting.
  24. Care to share how you found those wonderful professional quality TOYOTA pictures?Sure, just an uninterested, unpaid, voluntary blogger that suddenly arrives at just the right moment with commercial quality photographs that are found no where else on the internet. For a vehicle that isn't even for sale at this time. If anyone cares to look on the Toyota website, the pictures are far less flattering, even putrid. Dare I say putrid?
