DeadStar - Analog shutdown kills pre-'02 OnStar
razoredge replied to Flybrian's topic in General Motors
Typical, the technology world changes everyday..........ya know. Gotta have the latest......ah .........necessity I remember when the cell phones switched from analog. We had to get new phones. The reception was poor, and the initial sound quality was pathatic. Look to our government for allowing this and always remember our Federal, State and local governments are run by Idiots that could not make it in the real world and slipped through the cracks. " little-known decision by the Federal Communications Commission" -
dut da da ! mankinds only natural predator I myself, once kicked out the windshield from inside, after a rollover accident, it went out with one, highly adrenilized two legged kick. From there it enabled me to get the other two occupants out of the car. The driver and person in back seat. The car was laying on my (passenger) side. Factual truth! Had it been a head on I would have taken the glass out with my head. As very few were wearing seatbelts back in the early 80's. No side glass damage, no ejection. moving on I cant even begin to count all the times I've heard or people flying through "side glass". "Probability has increased as of late due to occupants refusal to wear seatbelts and the disconnection of air bags. This is compounded by the rising increase of high speed donuts. These high speed donuts are a phenomenon local police have accredited to the recent fad of drifting. Its been observed as a cult, suspected to have its roots inflicted on American youth through the movie series "Fast and Furious". film at 11:00 In sports tonight, there was a big upset in the BIG game"

Hang on now ! just a few things There was left over 3.8's (LG3-3) in 88 that were used up in LeSabre Customs and base Delta 88's. 3800 (LN3-C)Standard in PA/Riviera and Regency/Toronado, not sure how it went for Bonneville, Id say most had LN3C. I never did see a '88 LeSabre or "88" with the old 3.8 but I know they were out there. That was the deal with that. In 91 the "tuned port" "snakes intake" 3800 (L27) all had 170 hp / 225 lb ft torque. It was available on Regal (my 91 Limited had L27), standard in PA/Riviera and 98/Toronado and Reatta........in fact I'd have to look for awhile but I actually believe it debuted on some '90 Rivs and Toros.

Geeze Balth, did you do something to this arrogant person in another life ? He seems to follow you around just to throw little snide remarks in at your posts. At least when you and I (or anyone) go at it I take my stand right square in the middle of the ring. This....whatever..... is nothing but a heckler on the side lines. Ya got something to say or add provoke how about you spell in out in your first responce.......rather than playing this wittle immature game all the time. Usually after 3 or 4 degrading posts you finally say what little you had to offer in the first place................hows' abouts' you start showing your age ? beings' how you recently implied to someone else how lack of maturity somehow made you ?better? problem was in that particular exchange it was clearly you that was out of line and you couldnt take what you were handing out..........imagine that

This is a good car, I doubt they plan on selling a large volumn but its an easy streach. These chaufer driven people dont care what wheels drive their car. Cadillac will alienate many of the Northern buyers by going to all RWD. People have their choice now and how do the numbers compare ? Whats an "S class".....................

geeze, and here all along I always thought Pontiacs use of a birds beak headerpanel was the first hint that the Firebird was comming back.............. wonder if it could just be the Native American thing, you know, birds of prey, feathers, arrowheads, war leader, Obwandiyag.......... As for the consideration of getting a few elementary things right after the fact ? All I can say is..........."what ? did some czar maximum product guru wake up from their dreamy afternoon nap ?" but dont worry about the G6 GTP, theres no manual shifter problems there, no cockpit issues.........notin, notta, that car was perfect right from the drawing board, there was never even a need to track test it during development trunk space ? "Dah, we dont need no stinkin trunk space! " that would create disproportional unsightly prehistoric overhangs. non the less, lets give credit where credit is due "way to go girls......er...dream team", lets boogie......... interpretation: {that was part , part }...K... :AH-HA_wink:

I have been a self employed business. The 36 cents per mile or what ever it currently is...is more than enough off the gross income. This is such a BS loop hole, clearly aimed as another benefit for the well to do. If you can afford one of these new 60,000 tanks your golden, but if you are money conscience and buy something more practical, your out of the loop. There should be no loop !

OJ is the reason Ford is doing so badly.

:rotflmao: just trying to picture that...................like with Leslie Neilson (sp) driving......... Elmer Fud says "Karma baby"

I dont know much about the 510, but the Datsun L series SOHC engines and drivetrain was excellent compared to anything else around. They were meeting emissions without cat. converter, producing ? -60-75% of the HP comming from a Domestic V8 @ 25+ mpg. 75 Datsun L20B 2000cc had 110hp @ 25+mpg 75 Oldsmobile 350 ?5300cc? had 180hp @ 12-15 maybe 17 mpg. no match on torque Im sure. Great brakes, great handling. Rust was bad, the Japs were the first to use the lighter sheet that everyone uses today, only back then there was no galvanization yet. Everything rusted bad, the domestic's just still had heavier gauge sheet. I remember an early boattail Riv that I could have bought in 76 that was some kind of rust bucket. Stlying.........eh......they had their points but yes everybody knows early Japanese cars were monkey see monkey do. Borrow this and that and add a weird twist. What the Japanese really did was look at what the Italians were doing with power plants and refine it and make them reliable. Also the 510's probably more closely resembled early Fiats. While the fastback cars like the 710 and Celica GT stole from American styling, like the Mustang. Z car styling was a combo of various Ferraris, like a 275 GTB meets a 365GTB Daytona. Anyone can think what they want but those early Datsuns with the L series engines were the beginning of the scenerio of what has come to be today. They were also the end for Brit and Italian cars in the US market. So whos laughin now ?

No not really, every once in awhile under Lancia. Most brands have to many pages of junk now compared to 5 years ago. Takes forever to load and longer to go through. Why ? Whats up ?

Thanks Haypops It good to read someone doing a better job at saying what I try to explain. that guy put it together pretty good and brought all the factors into it. Sad thing is it will always be business as usual. This started many administrations ago, both Demo and Repo, neither give a crap, the current agenda is what suits their own and their families futures and desires. Our country is run by exec's... who would expect them to put their brother exec's in jepordy. Doesnt anyone remember back in the early 90's, down in Brazil they were undergoing some insane level of inflation, I cant remember the details so I wont give figures but it was crazy. Many of our "economists" and large campus economic professors were flocking down there to "learn". My uncle was one of them......from Ohio State. 60 minutes did a piece on it too. This whole thing has been carefully orchestrated and well planed, in advance, its not something that just happened and everybody "went with it" Sell your house, your car and all that you own and you too will think your rich. Problem is you'll have no place to live. Wasnt hard gettin rich selling off the America our post war heros built from sweat and blood. It was a piece of cake, a walk in the park. That CEO from General Electric, cant think of his name, was one of the first to impliment this profitable "down sizeing" Did wonders for share holders. Jack ? Jack Welch ? Cnat remember

It was a little more than obvious Sad part is I remember when he was all the talk, playing for Buffalo. There was alot of Buffalo Bills enthusiasm at that time, at least around NY. I always though he looked a bit funny in the eyes, like maybe he was dropped on his head as a baby................

510's were junk............now 710's were creme puffs Im with XP on this one, not really using their heads. But then I also know a thing or two about getting rid of so called "classic car parts" Usually not enough to cover the time dismantling let alone prepareing for shipping.

Pimp/Buick ? young people/Buick ? Black/Buick ? so smoooooth !

Aurora did well in GTS classes in mid 90's and the 4.0 was the engine to beat in IRL............little good it did. I have no idea what "Corinthian leather" and velour have to do with the discussion that was taking place but.......tee hee / haa haa moving on I have to say I disagree that GM has it in them, I really do believe they have the people working for them that the other companies passed on. not only that they are one generation behind in DOHC engines one generation behind in styling one generation behind in materials they are afraid to step out and be daring, reserved A&S ? well thats subject to opinion I suppose they are following up the rear they are not leading everything they put out is trumped by the Japanese the same model year and becomes old news. the penny pinchers will never stop castrating the concept cars they are trying to build cars on a continent that has a higher standard of living than their competition Yep, most of thier higher end cars have been great cars, but not for the nit pickers, not for the keep up with the Jones. It is what it is. Most usually its only in the movies where the underdog prevails.

SO in summary........they had one great big.............yes man, meeting and now we will be back to business as usual.........which is ........what again ? forgive me but I feel the need to add one of these

Not everybody can be a crane operator, there is only so many of those jobs too. That is the highest rate operators job and few can pass the test, either you have it or you dont, it only takes 6 months to weed out the crowd. Those that dont show potential, time is not wasted on. I know guys that are qualified and wont get back in a crane. Turned and walked away, I was in route myself, and walked away but thats me and my reasons. What I can tell you is you have the lives of hundreds of men in your hands, and long dedicated work days. Dont sneeze, dont cough, dont get sick, dont blink, dont have to go paa paa. As a crane operator he is at the head of his field, where are you ? I assume you have room for growth to be the "big operator" in your field ? Long term you will be far better off, you'll see. You did not pay $24,000 on tuition so you could be worth more than somebody else at your will. You payed it so you could be worth more than what you were. You payed it so you could pursue a career of your choise with options. From that point on your income will follow suit with what you are capable of. If it doesnt work out, quit and go to crane school :AH-HA_wink: Construction usually does pay good money, But that comes at a cost, the long term of which far excedes a 4 year ed. Usually its about not haveing a life. Usually about 12 hour days. Sometimes a 2hr drive chasing the work (4 total 12+4 = 16 24-16 = ?). Sometimes spending the week away from home. Loosing your wife and family. I have been struggling within the construction industry for roughly 6 years and let me tell you .........I HATE IT !. Its like a prison sentence, like a rat in a cage, like being owned, being someone elses bitch. The pay check doesnt come close to buying your life back. Some guys love it.
