I understand Blu, but thats just my point........we cant use the N word, yet white trash, redneck, whitebread and cracker are A OK ? Black man can use the N word..........but no one else. Other people can make jokes about our genetically inherited traits but we cant about other races. I believe his statement about hanging with a fork up his ass was clearly an indication at an attempted joke.........would have knocked them dead had Richard Pryor said it. Another example, my saying "what now, burn down another city" was a joke, but how is it interpreted ? Its too close to home to be funny. Its also got too much truth to it to be funny..............yet if a Black comedian used that in a stand up act..............funny as hell. Im tellin ya "the man is trying to keep straight, left handed, white country dudes down ! " and Im so highly offended.................Ill never watch another program other than HeeHaw and Dukes of Hazard reruns. :AH-HA_wink:

AH.......yea.........what exactly were the other guys saying ?...........it would have been funny had Richard Pryor made that act. I too think he blew it trying to improvise or was perhaps falling on his face anyhow and just snapped. So what ! Grow up ! I say big f@#kin deal, if you cant take it dont give it out. The only people that are supposed to tread lightly on racial or sexual issues are straight white guys. For everyone else its a free for all. Double standards all the way. From time to time I watch comedy central, the jokes always on the white guy, the cracker, the redneck, the white trash. Dont get sick and tired of it though, just sit there and take it cause if you show your fortitude, suddenly you are some kind of evil person. Only white dudes are racial, woman beating bigots.........right ? Ross Perot was politicly destroyed because he said "you people". When Martin Luther King said "my people" its OK. SO King could identify as a group but a white guy cant. Its like we are not allowed to notice that someone is of a different race or sexual orientation, but everyone else has a free pass to attack us at any time seen fit. So maybe this guy is not a great comedian, maybe he lost it, maybe he was on drugs.......whatever....I give him props for having the balls to say what he said. Its so funny the "heckler" had deeply hurt internal feelings so as to say "That's un-f***ing called for, ain't necessary."...... ...... hmm..... ...... ponder that..... ....... What now, burn down another city ?

I cant directly answer that but I have this....... The 76's were the last of the GM land yachts and I believe as big as they got, but I think Caddy had one model that soldiered on. 1976 Oldsmobile 98 Regency 127" wheelbase 232.2" overall lenght 5 1/4 feet of shoulder room 39" rear legroom 22 cu ft trunk it had "unsightly" "ill proportioned" overhangs and was DROP DEAD GORGEOUS ! I wanna cry sitting here going through this model sales booklet.... Tuck and Roll, buttoned, pillow cushioned thick black leather seats Crushed velour more color options than a crayon box just the right amount of stainless and chrome inside and out None the less I know for a fact that my 97 Olds LSS is a full size modern car and by no means what so ever did it disgrace the name of its 71-76 B body predecessors........which I have drivin and owned 2 of.........still own one of. In fact mile for mile it is a better car and has perfectly graced its name in modern times.

Agreed but can you just hear the flack already for it not being a "real 16 ", "not the car the concept was" and who knows what other comments. STS V already has the SC N*, they need some more edge on the facia and fenders, a bit on the rear deck, no foolish side creases, streached wheelbase, wider track, the improved interior. This DTS-L is great now, if the price is right with a bit of interior dress it might sell.

bla, bla, bla, ba ,bla, bla bla There has been plenty of GM's sold on the East coast, but what do I know Anyhow, without all the fanfare, thanks for posting those articals. I read the first two, which the '90 comparision took awhile to load. I even printed it out. While I wont dismiss their thoughts, but it does have its share of discrepencies. Caddy was 3rd in 0-60, tied for 3rd in 1/4 in 17.0 @ 81 mph but for some mysterious reason takes another 12.9 seconds to gain 19mph in the 0-100. Its breaking was poor and I know about that system. If its got the early ABS, well maybe thats why. If it had conventional braking it will stop as fast as one would expect, but its only 9 ft. The Mercedes is excused for being 10 years old (9 actually). Yet the Seville is not for being at the end of its cycle (5yrs). The Jaguars ride is writtin as "an unusually fine combination or road sense and smoothness; brake dive and power squat are superbly disciplined. Overall handling is nicely balanced, but .........to quick just of center......" So in handling it scores way low - 2nd to last yet BMW has this statement "Whats not fun is the steering, which has a zone of insecurity on-center that requires a lot of minor corrections" I quess whats good for the goose is not good for the gander ? Jag - poor ergonomic, yet Im looking at the interior and this statement, "interior seems more close fitting" and its ride gets a high 3rd place, and Im wondering, whats their problem ? Caddy pulls higher lateral G's by a considerable amount but lands poorly in handling, yet its the smallest and lightest by a considerable amount. Yea, yea, yea, I know all about FWD "weight bias"..........tell that to the Cobalt and Acura teams that made BMW(ultimate driving machines) weep this year. I look at the "modern" but extremely boring Japanese interiors and am not impressed. I look at the modern exterior styling of the Japanese cars and find myself wanting to pull a photo of the original XJ cars to relieve my eyes. They make statements like "we place more emphasis on V8 power than on wood and leather" then WTF were they testing LUXURY cars ? Audi and Lexus deserved last place for those pathatic wheels alone....this would leave Jaguar and Cadillac at the top. Cadillac is so far below the others in price, yet it get a very low value rating Summary : Lexus and Infinity had the new cars for the 90 MY, Caddy, Benz and Jag still had the old standbys and didnt stand a chance from the start. The newly styled interiors were interesting designs with boring appointments. The Japanese showed their highly advanced technology, while corporate America began to show the results of giving up the technology industries......to........the Japanese The Japanese were reinvesting in their interests at a time when American corporate leaders and Wall Street jerks were busy linning their pockets with the profits from job exportation and lack of reinvestment..........where are the Smiths......anyhow ? any questions ?...................

I dont get all this "Sixteen" talk. GM would never make enough money from developing and tooling a V16 to begin to pay for it, let alone the entire car. The mistake they made with that concept was throwing the V16 vib around. The damn thing would have to sell for $250,000 and compete. The "Sixteen" would be nothing but a money pit. Anyone wanting to correct my rational on this is welcome. I just dont see the logic behind a V16. Its not perfect anyhow and I can see many visual cues that are seen in production, like this C pillor

Damn that Eighty Eight is one hot bitch.......... Cant say the same for the LeSabre The Pontiac ...well... it wanted to be as cool as an Oldsmobile The Viper was a car that needed to happen. I was so happy when I saw that. I said to my friend "well it looks like styling is finally headed back in the right direction" Now look at the C5, C6, Modena, Elise and other curvacious creatures that have evolved from the overly drawn out wedges that preseded them.

thats what Im talking about *notice there is no console interfering with occupant foot room.........
-
This is a great styling design. Gobs of character. Appearing more like some mid/late 90's production and concept..........................O L D S M O B I L E interiors I did give it a top vote However it is in an Epilson, notice the steering wheel is by the knee caps and then I can only imagine they have that console extending way forward leaving no room for the gas peddle foot....because there are hiddin electronical wonders hiding behind it that take precedence above and beyond the driver...........Oh and by the way......why not just put the entire center armrest in the back seat ? Why stop with only 3/4's of it way back there ? ? ? Hmm ? ? ? Wake up Hollywood !

Be serious.......those idiots are no representation for the mass population of the country, they are there to serve themselves and the interests of their rich friends and related industries. This is nothing new, its been this way since the beginning of recorded history. We just put a better spin on it today, makes things look better. After all trailor parks are an improvement over straw huts............
-
Yea.........I noticed that right away. ** This method also addresses most of the structural rigidity issues involved with a streach.. ** It does look really good done that way. Im only wondering what it has done for exit/entrance ease......with the seat back behind pillor. Possibly not an issue, I dont know. But it does look good. Forget the center consoul, look at that beautiful wide back seat ! Why ruin it. It appears to have a very sizable fold down consoul anyhow...which frankly is much more versatile. Dress up the rear of the front consoul like we've recently seen, add fold down solid walnut tables and voila. It does need more contrast...way to much black going on back there.

Oh Lord wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz . . . that my friends is the reason for *50% of Mercedes sales. Status statement. At one time that was the reason for *50% of Cadillac sales too as Im sure it is some today. "Hey I got a Cadillac." I know plenty of people over the years buying used Mercedes, BMW's and Jaguars, because they percieve them as some kind of "great car" which also has statis involved. Me, I just keep driving my Buicks and Oldsmobiles and laugh everytime I hear complaints about the repair bills and watch the smoke puff out their exhausts. * figured pull out of the air, open to personal interpretation, beliefs, contortsions, dramatizations or what ever floats your boat........but one thing for sure, is no one will ever tell the truth about why they simply must have a Menz.........

heres where a little common sence from my perspective comes into play just drop it

thats what Im talking about ! -
Now that was the most interesting batch of posts I have read back to back. I only agree with about 10% of any of them. First - YES ! - This guy should keep his mouth shut, like a few others I can think of at GM If Buick options out a few models toward the bling factor, so be it. Its just to get some heads turning, the conservatives will still be able to have their tastes addressed as well. Besides Buick has not ever, until the dull 90's been about conservative. There is a cultural difference between black and white and its a good thing. Just for example we would still be singing "hymns" thinking they were the last of the noteworthy music......... laugh everyone. We all have to balance the best we can, tread lightly, and in the end that is what is achieved or at least approached - balance. *Now if only those fortune 500 companies would realize, those at the bottom getting the job done deserve a little bit more on their side of the scale.......then we could achieve a far better "balance" for our society and alleviate some of the issues that are stressing it.......... :AH-HA_wink:

I'd say the STS's side styling is its strong suit, its just smooth and handsome. I dont see a line out of place or a lack of contour (for Modern cars), its just right, less is more but still flowing from here to there. The Mercedes has some problems going on there. Now from the front, the Mercedes is very nice and the Caddy lacks ?detail?. For me the exagerated wheel arches and "ricer" side skirts are not becoming the Mercedes, at least in the way they did it. Ill always prefer smooth flow at flares, rather than the sharp sudden flare. It is a good looking car just the same. There are many cars out today with these silly side swipe creases and sharp bends that are lame excuses for styling statements.... GM has its share. My point - Turbo - was with the price and performance it seems to me the STS-V would be hard to resist, for me, being a GM person as well as American. It is a handsome car and I dont care what you are willing to admit, I bet it still holds a certain amount of "rush factor" for you, I just dont see how it cant. Especially if NA gets that new interior. My wife on the other hand thinks the CTS is far more exciting but I cant get past that side crease and lack of tall thin(ish) Cadillac taillights. Can a V be had with a light interior, rather than so called "sporty" dull monotone black or slate grey ? I would think more warmth might sway more luxury people to go the extra bucks for a performer. Frankly an all black or gray interior always makes me walk away from a car.

thats nice, I really like how they designed that console for the rear seat climate, clock, are those two speakers... and do I see Bose ? I also really do like how the two side of the console wrap up into the vents. But in this photo that driver information and control center definantly looks to be pasted or blacked/tinted out.

DeadStar - Analog shutdown kills pre-'02 OnStar
razoredge replied to Flybrian's topic in General Motors
Here we're still best off with cell one. In the city I imagine all work well. Nextel is a waste of money out here in the country yet. Yes the old analog mobiles worked great. deep as a mud puddle ey ?If were going to deregulate and let the corporations do as they please.....it should go for everyone. Monkey See / Monkey Do. I figure if foolish, selfish things are not allowed to happen....the word....blame....never needs to be used. In the end any slight of hand issues fall back to those who are paid to "serve and protect".....or was there an amendment that made that ideal, obsolete ? -

I dont know? Id say "allows" about covers it. After all, this is comming from a government that has for decades encouraged us to "just say no". Wouldnt it be something to see them impliment the same principles ? Shelving old technology ? - While its still fully functional and being used ? - - - NO ! Upgradeing ? a questionable word as it stands. Why should a customer have to pay hard earned money to "upgrade" something that has otherwise been working fine ? - - - NO ! Even if a used buyer would not subscribe, a trader would be punished on their residual value, a problem that is already out of hand with a GM vehical. Answer - - - NO ! Its really really simple our government and its many tentacles need to learn how to simply say NO ! -
Being how your talkin about a winter beater to save your 87 Monty, I know the answer to this search. However I also know there is uncompromisable priorities at play so I wont specify. I can tell you this, with a well thought search and carefully picking the correct car, for the price of a few car payments you can own one of these outright and drive effortlessly with confidence all winter.

I'd go on eBay and see if I could come up with a MINT OMNI if and when I tired of that search I would just go out and buy a good used Buick or Oldsmobile with the ol' 3800
