  1. I have recently had a change of emotions on car stables, sending 4 vehicals of my own straight to the junk yard without batting an eye. Two of which were "dream cars of mine" a 86 Riviera and a 76 Delta 88 2dr hardtop. BOth of which were great origional owner cars, One needing little work and the other already having well over 300 hours of hard labor. I nearly sent them all but pulled back on the 75 convertable and our old 86 LeSabre 2dr. It took awhile but I now understand the huge commitment and vast amount of man hours needed to maintain a stable let alone restify or customize cars that "need a little TLC" Now I feel if I had the financial resources I would only pursue one car, the car that most stimulates me out of all cars. 2. This butt hole post only proves our moderators are just that ! You twits ever going to grow up ? tee hee hee hee hee, what a bunch of wittle bitches
  3. Cool James ! Ireland ey ? I can only one day dream of seeing Ebgland, Ireland and Scotland. Id need a whole summer just to take it all in, and thats never going to happen. My sister had the oppertunity and that may just have to due.
  4. What are the two levers seen on the rear door of the small photo of the 3.8 sedan I posted ? I understand one but there is a second ?
  5. One last "boreing" detail. The picture posted was a timber lot put out of commission, not some old abandoned farm field. It is essentially the equivilent of a clear cut, only a clear cut will, one day, again be productive. So this is no longer a part of the visious circle of life but part of the circle that is now out of the game. While it is a necessary evil of the always growing population of the earth one has to question how fast can growth be before it is no longer healthy.
  6. This is one interesting scenerio Mustang but myself I believe it will be the opposite. See these well off, over paid people are not hurt one bit by the energy inflation. They will still be going to the lake and out in the boat and HVAC the huge mostly unused house, heating the pool, defrosting the driveway because its just pocket change. The working poor and simple county folks that have been able to afford to drive the extra 30 miles to work and able to afford to heat the old farm house or small ranch house will in the end be the people pushed into slum living in the inner cities or rounded up into trailor parks bordering some "industrial wanna be area" as if there is much "industry" left. Does anyone have any idea what the economy and/or unemployment rate would be if not for the employment involved in this "suburban sprawl" and all related infrastructure ? You have to see it from the raw products invloved to the finished product, to the sewer, utilities, and highways, its an amazing sum of man hours. This is who, what, why , where and when we are keeping this countries populations economy afloat. That picture you posted sums it all up if you can truely see the big picture. Am I in favor of it? hell no! I hate it, but this is where we are currently employing all the people we put out of work by deporting our industrial base. Our overwhelming immigration flood is also fueling this fire of "growth" which also employs many immigrants as well. Somehow it seems like someday it will all just blow up becasue its a big sheltering blanket making everything look OK. But one day fuel will really be a serious problem. The other countries will catch up with America and those Americans makeing the big bucks due to low wages in foreign countires will loss that "resource" and when they can no longer afford to live as seen in this photo..........then what ? Theres going to be so many Americans without employment. Ya know, some day the world isnt going to need "the information age" How long ? Well it depends on how long it takes for these resources to dry up. I wont see much of it in my remaining years, but doesnt anyone else care about their children and grandchildren ? The past 20 years have been too fast of growth, to fast of change and there has to be a steep price comming down the road.
  7. just some various demeaning quotes that started this well deserved $h! ! Apparently if they had painted the Walnut black on the dash top and covered the front with stamped stainless..........oh and hidden the "horrible" small detail the hinges throw into the picture...........a black steering wheel is acceptable............. The hanging conditioner and lack of flowing consoul is also probably "acceptable" because most likely the Jaguar does not have AC........or if it did it would be a "horrible Lucas" system...........which as we all know from personal experience could no way be as reliable as that ?_?_?_?_? So we can clearly see from these photo comparisions "On the international stage, no way in hell" I quess Ill have to "close my eyes, and pretend both are luxury cars" I cant find a good rear seat view so Ill go with this and this from the cheaper 3.8 sedan, complete with window cranks........."oh gawd, it cant be "luxury"......... yep even if I close my eyes and dream "Second star to the right and straight on until morning" am I able to see how one of these cars is "not a luxury car of the '60s". I realize I should "not even go with Cadillac because it's so grossly one-sided" but maybe "the rep falls down hard" when ones eyes are closed and they spend too much time pretending they are "compared to domestic luxury marques of the same period".............. apparently even the great Harley Earl and Bill Mitchel were setting the target too low when they set sites on Jaguar for the Corvette and Riviera..........I mean why would they want to build a car and call it a sports car if they were thinking of Jaguar and why would they want to build a personal luxury "grand sport" car while having Jaguar in mind ? I dont come here to shoot wits and determine who can be the most cunning at the lips. I come here to enjoy cars. So yea................LETS RECAP!
  8. So gald Im not narrowminded. Balth, you have shown nothing but predudice critique and snide little meaningless comments you may actually fit in quite well with the stiff upper lip set sippin tea. I see two different approaches to the same ends. The Caddys while more "modern" are cheap stamped this and thats from a more industrial advanced and unscathed country. This Jaguars interior on the other hand was hand built. What ever they lacked in stamped stainless trim and spot welded hinges on the glove box they made up for elsewhere. You asked what was class leading and then blew off the fact that this cars independant suspension, disc brakes and aluminum OHC engine producing far more power per cube and close enough final performance results as nothin because of what you prefered. You want to make large of unhidden ruber and make little of other advancements..............I guess that speaks volumns of your objectives, which are little more than belittlement and oh so similar to what the media does to GM today that you object to. I cant believe you just now realized the corrolation of Jaguar, Rolls and Bentley. Something I would never even waste my time on. Should we throw up a 58 Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, Buick with a 57 Caddy predesessor to show the vast "differences" They always looked nearly the same to me. Hell go grap a Packard while your at it. Sylvestor - laugh all you want, Id rather be "funny" than be like you, which there is never any chance of. I placed the pictures of the Caddy to show that if that is luxury so is a Jaguar. If a Jaguar is not , neither is a Cadillac. After all that is what blew this topic all to f@#kin hell.................the statement that a Jaguar was NOT a luxury car................how ignorantly stupid. I could give a damn who would prefer what 62 car to this Jaguar, that was not what the topic was posted for. I have many others I would take over this Jaguar............including other Jaguars............but what was the f@#king point in popping in and saying a Jaguar is not a luxury car..........................huh ??????????????
  9. OK, Nelson clicked in my head today..I remember Carlos Santana did a tribute to him. But I still couldnt figure out how it applied to this. I see what your were implying now. Thanks Rick Wagoner did invest a million in shares last year. Even though I believe he recieved a 4 million bonus the year before. I figured that was a good show of commitment and faith. Ill give him credit for that...... or.......maybe he felt guilty ? but........Ill give him the benefit of the doubt. They have given good effort with much of the new product. I seem to have less problems with most of the new product than some around this site. Sooner of later we are going to have to forget about late 90's early 2000 decisions and look forward. I will say...............at least Josh and myself did put our money where our mouth is. OC and Oldsmoboi have as well. Quite a few other members here, have been excited enough with the new product to purchase or at least seriously consider. So there is some amount of stimulation from the new product and it is just the beginning...............if GM can hold out. The problem still seems to be with perception, still being slightly trumped by the competition, no break from the mafia and just no turning the public away from Toyota. I cant say its Wagoners fault sales arent higher and the public is still facing East. I actually have been concerned with some of the advertising and that leads to LaNeve (excuse me if I spelled that wrong). Im still a bit annoyed about him going public and openly saying something like "We had some poor product in the past" I saw him say it on Auto Line, some of the program was impressive but............you just dont say that stuff, GM had some great product many ignored or were unaware of. As for the book keepers and bean counters fire them all !
  10. It seems to me they may have the financial power to get the ball rollin for E85 infastructure. However we all still know there will be no savings. THe laws of supply and demand and capitolistic greed will still push the prices through the roof. If gas is 4.00 E85 will be 3.75...............when gas goes to 5.00 E85 will be 4.85. The word "savings" is nothing more than a dream in todays inflated and deregulated world. Local work and the bicycle is the only answer
  11. sorry dont know who that is ? so Im completely lost. I know I heard the name years ago but must not have been meaningful to me.
  12. Wow...........and to think I missed out on this one..........lets see Buickman posts a quote of some disclaimer, thats it, a qoute, nothing more deftones, Satty and Yellowjacket verbally attack with some little topic free cuties Josh tells them the shut up and the administator attacks Josh........................ very congressional so far........... Then usonia steps in with a great, to the point stance on the nonsence and had me cheering in the back ground when all of a sudden he gets limp, drops his stance and heads back to the corner.........also very new age American Stand your ground Dude its the foundation America was built on. Buickman I cant believe the crap you will take and just keep on going and are so willing to forgive and forget or accept or whatever, it shows something, not sure what, its kinda rare so there might not be a term for it. I dont know whats going on with Josh and I know its not the place or my business because its clearly "behind the scenes" crap. Thats said, at least Josh on occasions would contribute GM information, labor opinions and other real contributions and effort. Satty on the other hand rarely offers anything but strange humor and confuseing insults to specific demographics. Never much cross to bare on screen Fly Im sure the burdon will be unnoticable. No, Im not being " fanboyism" on behalf of Buickman or Josh, Ive agreed and disagreeded with both. That one particular post, Fly was much better than your previous. As for the TOPIC.....................didnt Rick Wagner recieve an awsome annual bonus in ?? 04 one of the years that was determined they had crooked the books to show profits when indeed they had not ? and Should we be surprised to hear other failing CEO's praise other failing CEO's when theres a "business adventure" at stake ?
  13. I cant see how anyone could not see that Buick has been sent to the desert, starved, castrated and left to limp back home on its own. I cant see how anyone could not see unbalanced priorities in allocating R&D funding. I dont know the details like so many others do but just whats on the surface makes the whole thing so obvious. saturin had sales barely above Olds when they shut the door on the investment they made in Olds........brilliant Chevy and Pontiac midsize car was getting real poor performance and not so great reliability in powerplants, until they recieved the engine designed by Buick which sold well and made lots of money for large BOP cars. Cadillac was flat on its face got some real bad rep in powerplants, but yet got billions to "reposition" itself in an area it was never positioned in and the results have been touted as positive but the volumn of new and old (90's) Cadillacs I can visually see are still far less than Oldsmobiles or Buicks. I think the New Cadillac = success is just spin, Im just not seeing all these new A&S cars on the road. The older Sevilles, Eldorados and Devilles were plentiful (by comparision) in the late 90's Now it seems we have heard all the crying about the 3.8 still being around in Buicks and how the 3.6 was the answer but its only available in one Buick and thats the highest trim option on a model that didnt really take off. Yet I keep hearing about how all these other brands and their models are going to recieve this "must have" GM engine............ BTW where is this damn engine ? Reserved for Caddy's and Saab's but holdin at Holden ? The way I see it is GM has only thrown Buick a little bone now and again. Well if thats not a long term plan of destruction. It is a plan to just water weekly and save the fertilizer for others. Others that we know did not get the job done in the 80's & 90's while Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac did. Man I hate saturin...............such a farce, such a stupid "division" such a stupid name
  14. A new car sitting on a lot for a year would not make the seals fall apart nor would it destroy the brakes Still Dealers would be wise to start these cars up and move them around once a month.
  15. Wow ! There is some really awful wheels out there on the market, always has been. I think there are only about 5 styles of wheels I have ever liked and the various versions in which some people try to copy them and yet be different just dont cut it. THese more resemble some version of the horrible wheels GM was puting on Cadillacs and Buicks in late 90's. I bet they really help extract heat from the rotors........... I find it amusing on some boards like the G6 board where there are guys wanting to replace the 18" wheels on their GTP............some of the finest wheels GM has put on their cars in decades. I guess wheels are a matter of personal taste.
  16. Yep...........you have to be a real "wrench savvy enthousiast" to R&R some items on some FWD's. As for transaxle stuff on say a Corvette I have no idea. I bet a rear engined/transaxle Porsche is great joy. Then the mid engined cars...............oh boy! None of which are enthousiast cars, no doubt. My Alpine was a 3 act trick to R&R a starter, again not an enthousiast car, no doubt. THe brake & fuel lines on my early 70's GM B bodies are so tucked up into the frame its nearly impossible to "restore" them without lifting body off frame (thats BOF BTW). Again not an enthousiast car. What an ordeal to R&R head and timing chain on my old RWD Datsun, again not an enthousiast car. Its a gawd awful horrible world out there, so many hard core problems that need to be addressed in the auto enthousiast world. Im gonna go put a huge sign up on my front lawn Cars are a big piece of $h! and of course there would be no truth in that
  17. The taste of alchol itself has always been enough to keep me from becoming an alcholic, including beer, I never liked the taste of beer. Ice cold at the end of a hot summers day work would be OK for maybe as many as 3 but thats about it. I guess I drank when I was younger just to go out and have fun. In recent years I drink on occasion to remind myself why I dont drink. Sundays always used to be such a waste all hungover and burnt out from being out all night.
  18. I dont see where you said ignorance comes in all types ? Also your sentence was kinda bland like say a Camry or Nova whereas mine was colorful and full of character like say a......................................62 Mark X..................
  19. I remember back in late 70's our local airstrip had a Rock fest. Three excellent local bands shared the stage and it lasted all day and night. It was a beautiful summers day too. Well you get all types..........and of course you get bikers. AND of course they take over. The dirt airstrip became a drag strip for Harleys. I remember thinkin how one guy with a 250 Montesa could make them all look like the butt heads they were. Life has its ways though and their was a handful of macho men get themselves and their bikes tore up on the dirt. Still it was a pretty good time if you stayed close enough to the stage to hear the music over the Harleys.................. There was a guy and his girlfriend or wife there in a early Stingray, 63-67 or so. He wanted to leave and the bikes had him boxed in. He started out decent, trying to see whos bikes and to get them moved. He was ignored and ignored, finally he started the car and began reving it, I was gettin kinda of worried. He had friends around too so with nothing more than a lot of postureing the bikes were finally moved and the couple allowed to leave................... Now this makes me wonder if these same "bikers" are now @$$hole Toyota drivers................or are some of these car show going "enthousiasts" wanna be bikers ? I will admit if a Toyota pulled up beside my car at any kind of car show I would tell them to move elsewhere.................if they were already there I would not have violated their car...............just their wife............... If I was givin a hard time at a "car hop" for any of my new FWD GM's I would tell them I really wouldnt want to be seen parked next to their piece of $h! bondo bucket tractor technology tired iron anyhow. If they violated my car by touching it in anyway including a sign or "note"..............we would be throwin down. I totally agree, this asshole drives Oldsmobiles...........primarily FWD Oldsmobiles and Im a wanna be biker thug. Its all because my paapaa is wittle. I have a big set of balls hanging from the bumper of my Cruiser...................
  20. bearpig ?...........................is that another one of those imported invasive species ?
  21. Wow, thats pretty bad. Seems hard to believe someone would preach one way and behave another. Makes me question the source. Not that I doubt they have a multitude of huge homes and that they fly all over in effecient methods. Huge houses really eat me up. 6 bedrooms.................no children. Lights are on but noones home, heated/airconditioned unused space. enough lumber to build 5 decent homes, crazy amounts of diesel used to ship all this stuff for one "professional" couple to have a non family castle sending realestate through the roof becasue money means nothing.........therefore it should mean nothing to hard working poor families that simply want a place to call home half a mile of asphault driveway, lit up with more light bulbs than my entire house has heat coils in the driveway so they can melt the snow away.............oh my poor wittle frozen fingies...... Ill drive to the gym to get a workout but Ill be damned if Ill put an once of energy into snow removal with the wind whippin through my boxers. Its very hard to be environmentally friendly in this oil and transportation based society our leaders developed but the decadence thoughtlessness of it all is overwhelming............ On my behalf on a somewhat confused positive side, I just got a job 4 miles from home.......................................trucking stone products all over hells half acre to supply Americas overpopulated thirst for mo, mo, mo ! first we then we finally we succumb "trudge onward my finely tuned wittle zombie puppets...........trudge on !"
  22. It depends on how you define change. Life changes you, some views and ideals can be tempered or hidden I suppose. Children will make you serious and straighten out your act. However I believe any and all idiosyncrocies (how Id do spelling that ) will always remain. Our characteristics will remain and in many instances may be harden. For example I was always strong in my beliefs but would let people push me around and laugh it off or smile and shy away. Today I take nothing. I think this extreme happened because on the other extreme I didnt stand my ground when younger but did the "turn the other cheek" thing. So thats a change over my approach to my unchanged same old beliefs......... Make sense ? I know its not for the betterment of myself but the other way where I just took everything never did any good either. I use the expression "I ran out of teeth to kick out" I dont think any of my friends personalities or characteristics have changed either. I have a few that needed to sober up or straighten up but they are still the same person, just sober and without the extreme that comes with being messed up. I really dont kow how the system thinks they can change the hard criminal types but then maybe thats more like the alcoholism or drug abuse when fear or reality shocks you into change. I cant say, not having been there. Change is too broad of a term sometimes.
  23. mine just dropped 6% and I afraid that left me with little to work with. I just went to a open car show with my buddy and his family. Had I gotten there with him we wanted to park my white 06 GTP next to his white 65 GTO, they also took the (68 SS convertable and 69 Camaro). But I arrived later and parked outside the area. Later a Colbalt SS pulled in and was very close to the old cars, I had been wishing we could have parked side by side. Besides his Camaros and GTO the only cars of interest there were few. One Skylark and one Cutlass, the rest were typical Chevies and Fords, the Camrys of the past.........................................
  24. Thanks Capriceman for being able to see what happened. It was not jacked, at least by me. I was trying to help people understand something they themselves had started, in fact ya'll could blame it on Viper & Satty if you paid attention since the beginning. Not that I do blame anyone, I didnt care. I was only trying to clarify things and yes, did get frustrated. I used the word "wacked" in jest and said it because the emoticon I used says "stupid" and I did not feel like calling anyone stupid. If you look you will see after that paragraph I said OK seriously or something similar. I said wacked meaning "crazy" for what the two kept saying and for refusing to absorb what I worked so hard to further explain from what Hudson posted. I see BV still does not want to understand, there is nothing more I can do. Everyone knows I will meet ass with ass when I cant get through, that is not an insult BTW. I know Im an ass and much worse...............I also know no one else here is....... ? Like I say toughen up, I wouldnt take the time to try to help or explain something if I didnt care. I was not nor ever threatened to be suspended. I did get in trouble once for pushing the envelope toward someone that was also pushing very hard, it took along time before I finally snapped, I actually think I took an amazing amount, before I did. I do have a 20% warning rate since then, That was a long long time ago. Closing the thread because I tried very hard to explain something and others tried very hard to deny it, would be silly and a sure sign of weakness. Geeze toughen up guys and try to learn something. Should we have just let it go and give misinformation the chance to be further passed around. Im always willing to learn when someone has something to offer. You could also notice that much of the transmission dialog that occured in this "hijacked" thread did cover FWD/RWD topics. Glad I could help..........
  25. OK, here we go 62 Cadillac Eldorado convertable with alloys..........no wait..those are caps so now we know what constitutes a luxury car in 1962 and what doesnt ?................
