Yep but something about the even earlier Skylarks I like even better. I think its that sloped back and the Buick side line. So I was thinking being how you put up a late 70's photo. Can you find a really nice shot of a 78 or so LeSabre Sport Coupe ?
  2. I like Saabs always have. I had a good friend that only ever drove Saabs including a Sonnett summer car. As I remember they were high milage cars too. I odnt know alot about them but they have never been offensive to look at unlike saturin. Caddy XLR - I never said nor have I heard said that saturin stole sales. Just funding that could have been better spent. Maybe better quality for the origionals, better design, better marketing I could go on and on. What is really strange now is saturin put out two show cars, the sky and the aura and everyone goes nuts. Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Chevy have put out dozens of show cars or concepts but big daddy never followed through on them, but now these saturins, we are going to follow through with. Typically that sky model would have been in the rest or some of the BOP camp not this little expensive thorn in the side "company". Then the aura mimicks a Aurora breeds A6 with RWD and the 3.6 standard and everyone is acting like saturin broke new ground and has so much potential. Theres been so much potential at Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac but we just get a teaser and never the real thing. So whats up with that ? Jeeeeezzzzze it just drives me nuts
  3. just go look at the friggin things, they are for people that hate cars but must own one for transportation. They were built on profits made from the other divisions which were profitable but robed for product because GM spent money on saturin Saab and Fiat instead of R&D for BOP. right now the remaining used saturins are being bought for beginner cars for teenagers but they dont seem to last long. saturin has never turned a profit, its been over a decade, its clear they are being coddled.

    thats an entire juke box
  5. Pontiac - butt ugly beek faced cars, running Buick and Oldsmobile and Chevy based engines. You know theres something wrong when I never really liked Pontiac because of the styling but now try hard to like the models and support them because I know they are in trouble. which brings us to the problem - - - - -saturin Crush saturin, they were built with great profits made by Buick and Oldsmobile during the 70's and 80's just so they could get in the way and screw everything up. Dont worry Im sure they will turn a profit some decade soon, now that they got Oldsmobiles market share - yaright, then kill Buick and they will get Buicks market share - yaright, then Kill Pontiac so they will get their market share - yaright ! Chevy next ?
  6. OK drop those three and the two that are comming and we'll be where we should have been in 2000.
  7. Uh, lets see, uh, how many models does saturin have

Im with Nick on this one, he didnt mention Savatage Symphony X Queenryche Megadeth I do listen to country but I need just a certain mood I also listen to stuff like Nora Jones, always have, I like funky jazz too. I also like classical but dont tune in very often Im really get a groove going with big band music, as well as what they call "standards" I just recently bought a Frank Sanatra early years CD. I can listen to that and then Dream Theater and think nothing of it. No rap or bull shit music for me like pop though I can still get into the beat when forced to hear it. Right now I have the sweet music of a 72 312PB flat 12 Ferrari running a track. It pleases me.

Ya know I like those Century's now, back then I didnt because they were all wrong for what they came from. Today its kinda cool to see one. I think someone put a mid engine forget what motor in a 442 or Olds version of that body. I quees it was quite fast. I cnat remember now what forum it was posted on. It was about 4 years ago when I first heard of it. Clamshell hood rocks, its a really smooth operation too, well done, quality, that hood just rolls back like a snap-on tool drawer and drops down and latches - smooooth! It also doesnt shade the over head light in a shop like mine anyhow.
  10. Actually Streudels come from the Alps where there is snow and lots of Avalanches. I actually was on a toaster streudel binge about 10 years ago but that was before I had that little zipper incident since then Ive been working on a few other projects but its hard to find time with nothing to do and all. then I got the FWD stuck in the snowbank becasue I forgot to slow down while backing out the driveway so I put a big block in the 76 Olds but it didnt make it to the gas station so thats still sittin below the big cliffs where the Avalanche burried it, sucks to because it had a full tank of gas. I get back to you on that other thing when I get back from the Doctors.
  11. Everything GM does sucks 3800 sucks FWD sucks Unions suck Rednecks suck this was this forum back in the spring and winter wheels are to small engine doesnt have enough HP it isnt a BMW it isnt a Lexus non college graduates dont deserve any more than to breath air
  12. Yes I remember that but had never read the details. That 600 hp is greater than anyones got out of a L67 yet isnt it. Not bad for a "boat anchor" "vacume cleaner" ey ? ;-)
  13. Toronado was considered to be a smaller car ? Never read about that I saw some of the early scetches for the XP__? and they looked more like how it turned out and some like the 67 Eldorado.

These Are the greatest photos. This should be on the Buick forum. Buick some how got lost by the late 90's. I suppose it began in the 70's
  15. Cool - and the Ecotecs Grandfather had some good moments in these cars ;) Cobalt looks great all squated down and with GFX

BTw - our high school music teacher had one of those Gold 70's Skylarks just like that picture but not the targa rag. At the same time he was finishing off a 64 Impala coupe that he had had since college. Last time I saw him about 10 years ago they were driving Subaru's :-(

those Earl and Mitchell years are gone boys and we just wont see anything so exciteing, origional and so smoooooooooth again. The next styling era will probably be stuff that looks like a block of Swiss cheezzzzzzz!
  18. Interesting, these nitch cars are so unpredictable for sales, this Kappa could still be a flop in a few years after the thrill is gone, who knows. Whats up with the Opel ? Doesnt look good ? doestn perform good ? just not enough captive audience ? I agree saturin should not get a ANYTHING they are interfering and are going to kill Buick and Pontiac - the hands that fed them.
  19. No they wouldnt be fine and they were not fine 20 years ago when the roads were loaded with RWD cars. FWD cars were the best thing that ever happened around here the difference is day and night. RWD = if theres any resistance, just sit there and spin, FWD = get in and go. Most of the posts made here by RWD crowd are so full of bias propaganda its crazy. In fact the stuff they say about FWD proves they are the ones that need driving lessons. "Almost wreaking because of torque steer" - must be one of dem thar skilled drivers  Was probably one of those twin turbo 500 godzillian horse power "Datsun" engines :P or just plain Jap junk ;)
  20. THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT :)
  21. Its very utility looking in this photo, but the top down changes the look and I have no problem seeing "truckishness" at this angle and not knowing the car. Actually all cars from that era were HUGE and very truck like =}:-0. This car is crying for a custom chop job & streach turning it into a six passenger Elimoraro. I was going to say it would look better with the rear quarters seen on that Caddy, but just said change the rear instead.

Wonder if that 37 was an Earl body ? I forget what year Sloan "aquired" him. You know I just realized it could be said that the double bubble Lacrosse lights were inspired by the 60 - if you want to look at it that way - better than thinking Jaguar even though being on top of fender they are more like Jag. 66 Riv body just rules the roost in my flavor and I just realized that body beat the Camaro body to market, right ? I like the 66? LeSabre or Wildcat? coupe behind the 58 much better, its in my favorite 60's color too. The Reatta was so nice, thank goodness GM's styling of the mid eightys came when it did, that 77-85 look just needed to go. frankly I think GM had the best looking cars from that 85/86-90/91 era, BMW and Mercedes had decent styling but GM was right in there in my opinion.
  23. The Cadillac/Oldsmobile/Pontiac dealer we bought our LSS and 99 Anniversary from gives 100 per car for any recommended sales. I think you need to buy a car from them first but its a actual signed contract.
  24. This last picture looks great but the first more head on picture looks kinda boxy and not so nice. Great headlights though. Now the Alpha I really really like. What was the convertable, I thought that was kinda square and simple looking. Im not sure I was that impressed with the last concepts.
