I have kinda considered a Mustang and a Grand Am a chick car, they always seem to be driving them. The guys that drive around in PU's and Harleys consider anything like a Corvette or European sports car a "bitch car" A guy at work called my 99 Eighty Eight Anniversary a "fag car". Different strokes. I like my cars feminen so I tell the tough guys, "hey, I like driving girls, do you like driving boys ?" "Just what is it your thinking about when you have that big fat shift knob in your hand ?" I just cant understand why I have such a hard time making friends ? =}:-)

Agreed, its a PITA on busy interstate when traffic is traveling say 70 anyhow but some jerk wants to go 72 and jumps into your safety zone. I dont allow that myself but then Im kinda tailgateing. With a truck you have no choise you just have to keep letting them in and drop back further then the next one comes and you have to let off again, it gets really annoying in a truck. Tailgating can be a huge mistake. I always wonder if these fools read the entire traffic situation or just look as far as the one car in front of them ? They need to realize you have a stream of traffic going 70 and thats all its going to go. Just pull in line and travel.

Paulie I kinda covered some of that here if you interpret it as I meant it. "The rural teachers are pissing and moaning because they dont make the income the teachers do from the burbs, well guess what, the country folks dont have the stupid money the people from the burbs do either. Quit trying to raise our standards when we dont have the means to do it. We couldnt afford the annual taxes on those burbian houses let alone the mortgage, dont expect to live burbian standards and live in the sticks, same goes for the inner cities I would guess." We dont have a combined income of 45,000. Rent is high because of school taxes - ? Like I've said 3-4 hundred a month right there for taxes. I couldnt deal with the kids, thats why I dont teach, I am a good teacher however, but have no tolerance for BS. I can deal with bugs and dirt and grease and wood chips, thats why I do what I do, I dont think many teachers could deal with the crap I deal with and certainly dont have the overhead, ultra demanding must do's and must do nows, always learning, new skills, I could go on but my point is teachers have a pretty slick life. There must be 6 or seven teachers in my family some of whom are professors. Yep 2 professors, 4 school teachers and my fathers administrators job. Then I know so many of my fathers former facilty. Most retired now, still kinda young, traveling the world, mowing the lawn, that kind of stuff. Many great people amounst them, still I dont feel sorry for them and I dont think they expect me to.

Blu - your silly ! The rest of you are AH's. You are the ones I will run off the road, into the ditch. The only people I mess with are those that mess with me, tailgaters get it bad. No one boxes me on interstate. Boy girls, some of that shit is downright kindergarten, girly kindergarten. I had girly boy messing with car infront of him and then turned his games on me who was behind him, he learned the hard way, way hard, then we got the cops too and girly boy was a bit red in face with damaged car - his fault. Trucks go slow because they accelerate slow and because of hills, f'in with them is wordless. people pull this crap all the time, jump out in front because they are afraid to be behind but then go two blocks and turn, or want to drive 10-20 under anyhow. Follow the rules of the road they are there for a reason, the rest is BS. Lead, follow of get the frig out of the way.

Teaching is a good gig. All teachers live above the average wage of their communities. Its a 7 hour work day. Its a 5 day work week. All the paid holidays +. Christmas vacation, winter/spring recess, 180 days folks thats it, 180 days. They have the slack time during study hall duty to do the grading, a little time at night but they did only have a 7 hour work day. 8-3 around here. I came from a schoolin family. Many relatives teaching and my father was eventually an administrator. My sister became a teacher, she told me at the end of the first year, I should look into it. First few years is more work because they are learning and getting their system down, after that its same thing year after year. they know the program, the assignments, the tests and quiz's, the methods how to deal with the different personalities. Sorry I dont feel sorry for teachers, they have a good gig. Schools have doubled and in some districts tripled their income from taxes in the past 15 years. It doesnt get any better than that. Come on 45,000 and the summer off? 65,000 and the summer off ? The rural teachers are pissing and moaning because they dont make the income the teachers do from the burbs, well guess what, the country folks dont have the stupid money the people from the burbs do either. Quit trying to raise our standards when we dont have the means to do it. We couldnt afford the annual taxes on those burbian houses let alone the mortgage, dont expect to live burbian standards and live in the sticks, same goes for the inner cities I would guess.

and your reasoning for that is ???????????? because they cant do donuts in their family sedan????????????????because they cant turn .86G on skidpad?????????????because they cant do "low 14's" on Sunday????????????? because it will achieve 24 avg mpg rather than 19 ???????? Now really, what is laughable and absurd ? I believe our LSS sold around $28,000 in 97, it lacks nothing BTW but Im sure somebody knows all of whats wrong with it. The STS sold around 40 just a few years ago, and Im sure somebody knows all of whats wrong with thoses cars too ?????? I mean I dont agree with 28,000 for any car or 3.45 for any gas or 300,000 for any house or 1200 for any insurance or 400 a month for school taxes but......... this is the new millinium..........the new global economy.........a new way of doing things........a way of changing the face of America.......... if I'd only realized the problems were as simple as FWD and V6's

It shows the deteriation of the Pontiac styling big time. Just compare and see which wins the taste test/ In 11 years we went from strikingly stunning to huh?

Yea, yea, yea I know but all Corvettes are not Red and I think it is the worst color for a Vette. Thats people in the aftermath hoping to make a statement, but failing because they are way way way to late.

SO what some blue devil and ULS, they also made a little Tiger Shark. They have showrooms full of great wanna be cars. The question was about flagships cars for all divisions. What the hell is this guy talking about ? He answers a question to divisions that already have the halo car and tries to upstage the existing halo car, ignoring the question. The question was about all brands needing a flagship. Then he wants to shoot for the next galaxy forgetting to answer the question. Lets re read the question......... " Does each of GM's brands need a flag-in-the-ground car to define it "

Lutz interview regarding Solstice, future halos
razoredge replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
hoh boy What does Lexus and Inifinity sell for again ? BMW and Mercedes ? Volvo and Audi ? hoh boy -
Where did they find this guy ? Everything out of his mouth is nonsence or pointless to have said. Does he ever say anything important and valuable ? Anything we can take as reality ? Cadillac has STS-V what the hell is he talking about ? Chevy has ZO6 and the successful C6-R what the hell is he talking about ? Buick has nothing, what the hell is he talking about ? Is he saying the market does not exist for more exciting Buicks ? The markets tired of waiting for more exciting Buicks, get a clue. Jeeze the car were waiting for sits right there inbetween Solstice and STS/CTS, it belongs to Buick, now lets have it you balking fools ! saturin - hummer - you got to be kidding me ?

Woa, that snout is gruesome ! This is interestingly Enzo ish. Im also seeing a little 66 Toronado influence in those front fender leading edge. Wonder why this styling did not catch on ? LOL Dont like Corvettes in red. Yellow, blue, green, not silver, gold, autumn metalic, anything but red and silver.

Noble - that was it , what I saw today, thanks newbie, but its not quite exact but Ill swear related, perhaps an older or origional prototype.

I saw a car today thats almost got to be related to this car. the exhaust on the hood was not just right but so similar. I cant think of the name, I had never heard of it before, it was only four or five letters and a common kind of word too, so much so I said Id never forget it but i did. Darn it !

Ive seen them they are a very nice car but thats nuts ! I like Steve McQueen and all not that he was one of the greats but still thats nuts ! 100 years from now no one is going to care is some "who was that" drove the car.

The insurance industry is the biggest scam artists in the history of mankind. Insurance people make used car salesman sainthood status. Our insurance has tripled in 15 years. Our income has gone up about 10 %. The biggest insurance problems are because of all the inner urban people that have 3-4 major fender and door benders per year that have claims put on them. Most of these people dont have on the book "jobs". I worked for a short period in a inner city body shop and it was quite an eye opener.

I agree Harley but I am getting use to the idea of new names. I wont miss Regal or Century name but I will miss LeSabre and Riviera and Park Avenue or Electra Wildcat is and always will be the ultimate Buick name in my book next to Riviera Maybe the change will be OK.....though I could do without the limp wristed Heidi names. Our boy was after all Scotch........wonder if he wore a kilt? celt?

If that Impala is a grade up from the Lacrosse there must be someting wrong with my taste buds. Looks, its simple, if you like the 300 you are going to put down the Lacrosse I guess, it seems quite obvious. If you like the Lacrosse the 300 is probably not for you. I briefly checked out a Charger today but it didnt excite me enough to get too involved in and I ignored the Magnum that sat beside it so theres your stimulation, either of those cars would require some viagra on my behalf and I am a drug free zone, so there. I did spend a long time crawling around a BMW 3 & 5 just to see what all the buzz was about. I see its a pretty expensive "buzz". I think there is alot of buzzing going on in this topic too. ;-) Bravo Lacrosse, lets see some more.

Well now its becoming apparent it might not be realistic to keep driving the LSS with its size, weight and engine requireing 93 octane So Im looking at the Chevy site and see no listings for EPA milage on any of the models. I go to the Pontiac site and I see the 2.4 powered Solstice is 20-28 EPA. Now that is no better than the LSS except I dont need to buy premium gas, and as much as I'd like a Solstice its not half the car as the Olds... So I was wondering where to find a list of GM's EPAs on various new product.....or can someone give the EPA's to me right here or make a list on a new topic for a sticky in this powertrain forum.

Its loading slow but Im seeing old Ford GT in the hood somehow. I still say cars like the GT40's(64), Porsche 904 GTS (63), Ferrari 250 LM (64), Lamborghini Miura (66 kinda late) - were the first of this type of body style and aero approach, not the Mclaren ;-) Its amazing how many different tweaks have been done over the decades to the same basic idea to create so many different and great looking cars. However the Dino and GT40 will always be my favorite of the bunch. Sorry GT 1750 it never finished loading and I dont even have a guess.

Chris I have read all the possible reason for it as well as many future contributions to it. Anyone that thinks we do not and have not put heat into our environment must have never heated a tent in the winter with a single candle. And has dismissed all the things that humans have done to contribute to the problems. I bet all thoses fires in S. Am in reality have a chilling effect....because the smoke blocks the sun ??????? I can feel the ice age comming already <_<

Sorry I was called "chicken little" by a numb skull and I totally detest anyone that thinks its great to polute and carry on like there are no negitive effects to all we have done in the last 130 years. Wanna write it off as "nothing to do with me" I think the 4" fart cannon and the dead tree comparision sum it up. I will point out however that I was not one to think or say that we have caused these hurricans, however the world is becoming much warmer, that I do know. Im not a starter but I am a finisher.

Ya, trees give off good heat when you use them to heat your house. Elsewise(ha) they creat shade, and draw water, thousands of gallons, thats why the forest is way cooler than the concrete and asphalt urbania that has fried so many brains.
