  1. you guys are just wrong........ opps sorry ......correctly challenged
  2. one stop shopping, internet via ocean barge who could ask for anything more hooray hoorah
  3. :) Oh boy, gotta laugh :CG_all:
  4. OK well I say, You have to appreaciate cargyuys enthousiasm. Cnat say much in addition to great ideas or realistic thoughts about but I will add this in regards to cylinders and size. For the first time in nearly a decade Im starting to think 4 banger again. I am not as alergic to them as some of you but forget about that, this is what Im taking about. I look at the Cobalt coupe. Its nice Its OK, youve got the SS with what apparently has proved to be an excellent engine the Ecotec., now supercharged, achieving a HP figure as good as the first SC3800 got. Now take that Cobalt, its nice, its OK but it it everything a true Buick man would want in a small high performance car ? No its not ! Whats it lack? It lacks that Buick class, that Buick styling edge, that interior with a little more warmth, a body with a little more maturity and class. I myself would and most likely will push for a smaller, lighter, no holds barred, full performance mechanicals, full luxury interior, drop dead gorgeous Buick in the spirit of what the Special and Skylark was in the mid 60's. It would be the modern car of Audi A4 and BMW 3 series but made in America and carrying the Buick Trishield. It could be RWD on an extended Kappa, I know it can be done, it couldnt take that long to make longer wheelbase and wider track chassis. Come on, lets go, just do it. Lets put that Kappa facility to full capacity. Slowly fades away knowing no one wants anything thats not a V8 because the price of gas is going down anytime soon.
  5. The US lost some grand marques as well though come to think about it.
  6. I know what you are saying Blu, I kinda forgot to think about Renault and Peugeot but still there was something going on in Franch automotive styling prior to the war that just never came back to life.
  7. Buick and Olds shared the E and origional FWD G body designations for decades that were soley Buick and Olds, but I must confess Im not sure where Eldorado and Seville fit into the picture, I think they were very close. All three were their divisions flagships at any rate, then all of a sudden that was taking from Buick and Olds was destroyed. Very trying and confusing years the 00's have been, specially for a Buick or Oldsmobile man, well forget the one but the other is still here so "move over rover and let Jimi take over."
  8. Perhaps we should look back to the begining of the 20th century. Back to the long throw cranks and enormous flywheels of the hit and miss single lungers. Now they went along ways on one combustion cycle. Could that have been considered DOD in its most primitive form ? ;-)
  9. To bad. "Dont bash Pontiac, I dont want to get pissed off." Come bash Buick on a Buick forum and take what you give. Grow up ! Sound like a 7 year old bully gonna have a temper tantrum. Buick and Olds saved Pontiac, there was no codevelopement, between Buick and Olds maybe but Pontiac was well out of the loop. Currently Pontiac is getting all the help they could ask for, what are you talking about. They have a two seat roadster, a modern V8 RWD muscle car, a new great looking mid size body - available in coupe, sedan and convertable, the only car to get the L32, a high performance transverse mounted V8 powered FWD car mounted in a recently new radical body style, plus had the only G body to get the big 4.6 Northstar engine. How much more ass kissin could Pontiac expect ? Buick is the division that is well over due and it is the division that gave GM cars its only reliability breathing room with the 3.8 V6 engine. It also once had a performance edge with above named engine. Just where would Pontiac be without the Buick V6 from 87-04 ? Where would GM be without the sales of Buick & Olds designed C&H bodys from 86-99? Where would GTP have been if stuck with the twin cam and never recieved the 3.8 ? I know which babys been gettin the nipple. Its Buick turn.
  10. Yep, If American workers would work for minimum wage, forget about retirement plans, forget about health insurance, dump the decent house, move on down to crackville, take the bus to work, then we might be able to save N.American industries ? Probably not because they would still be paid over 5 dollars an hour more than Chinese, Indian, Turk and Korean workers. Sorry you dont get the point and cant see past the end of your nose. The root of the problem is what needs to be adressed not the final outcome.
  11. Whats the problem with that ?......so Altima made it into that catagory too. Its midsize premium catagory, not Luxury catagory One minute the Lacrosse is in trouble for not being sporty, the next its in trouble for not being top Luxury, next its in trouble for its competitive selling point. Geeze!!!!!!!! Look some publication likes the Lacrosse - live with it ! Myself Id still rather have a 96 GS, but hey, styling had to change. I like Blu's review myself Id like to see them make the dual headlights even more pronounced, change the grill, shorten the overhang and drop the air dam 2". I dot see the Lacrosse as a car that blends in with the crowd, it might not be state of the art but it stands alone and its a Buick damn-it ! Interior is kinda cool BTW, I suppose it would be cooler if it looked like a Acura or Infinity but it doesnt it looks like a Buick - praise the Lord !
  12. Thats OK neither do I. Something like the higher reving high HP V6's now have the same or more torque than the slower reving ones have. Then something about how all that high reving business has little to do with everyday driving, until the boy racers get the car in its dying years at which point it wont be very environmentally friendly anyhow. Yes the higher an engine revs the more fuel it needs to burn thereby producing more polution givin the effeciency of all engines are the same. However at normal driving RPM ranges it makes little difference.
  13. Is that W Cutless ? Looks like maybe that track up in Canada, cnat think of the name of it but is got hills. Someday maybe Ill be able to post the photo of a W Cutlass road course car I shot at Limerock.
  14. Yep, WWII left Europe in shambles. Ive had this argument a few times about why European cars were as they were and were kinda behind in many areas. They lost industrial might while America gained it. America was ready to go and Europe was rebuilding. Delage Delahaye Bugatti They really did have some awsome stylests which kinda contridicts a few GM bragging rights, once again not to take anything from the greats but styling was going on in automobile for a long time. this car is absolutely stunning Harley, looks like perhaps the same designer as the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. I think I like this Delage better though. Awsome !
  15. Just think of all the work for the Chinese merchant shippers ! and I think to myself....what a wonerfull world
  16. I like this guy ! B)
  17. My goodness is that Mercedes bodied by Pontiac
  18. Well Randy, apparently the slower reving 6's no longer lead the torque game. However this brings us to the reason why the slower reving engines get better fuel sipping at givin normal driving power band, while the speed racers running constantly above 6 grand dont. To further add to the confusion how many of those high output high RPM engines ever see that 7000 before they are reduced to started cars for teenage boys ? At that point will they be more or less environmentaly friendly ?
  19. yes you know I just saw one of the M_ at Limerock, I failed to take note of the different designation but now remember clearly. I was more into checking out the regular sedan competition to see what the buzz was all about.
  20. So its some option on a 3__ BMW ? Im so ignorant. I havent followed BMW's for years. I thought they were all still three digit cars. Wasnt the M1 the old mid engined super car ? I kinda thought thats what I expected. the third generation. Sorry I dont follow much but GM cars
  21. No, not when the corporations made rich in Ameria or N America by N Americans spent their profits to develope third world countries for the purpose of exploiting their populations. I understand your view on your retirement but my point was to get some to stop thinking like those collecting pensions or SSi are on welfare. It was the bill of goods they were all sold durring their carreers. It was a system that was at one time working well and would still be had our corporate and political leaders not sold our future to other countries. Carbiz I dont know much about what you are referring too. What pensions are required today that werent in the past ? I believe pension payouts get adjusted at periods of high or low value and currently after everything that has gone astray since .com and Sept 11th and whatever other thingns seem to control "wallstreet" has lowered returns on pension investments - that combined with - decades of outsourceing and layoffs has lowered the numbers of new employees contributing to funds while number of retirees is on the rise from the glory years of employment and retirement funds. Not the there was anything wrong with "the bill of goods" but systems like this only work while in continuance but when they are cut off - say like a damn, the river dries up below. Imagine if you can, the world of N Americans if these Union Haters got their way and all these Union jobs were destroyed and the pension funds would dry up in a matter of a few years and then there would be millions without anything, even though they contributed their whole lives. Wont happen completely but thats what I see when some of these people post their hatred at the working class that has been in this system for decades. Once again please let me remind everyone Im not one of these workers and have nothing to gain or lose either way, however I am compassionate and understanding of the "bill of goods" we were all sold and the systems that were inplace and part of the pride of the American way of life. I myself dont believe these changes brought by "new" ideas were at all in the best interest of our country or yours. Takes all kinds to make the world go round
  22. Just great Guys, now Im all pissed off again, and I try so hard to be a cheerful person, but no, you just cant leave me alone and have to push my bottons. Ah I never liked change is all thats wrong with me. :( :) Anyhow, If you ask me that O4 has that blocky look known today as the A&S Cadillac look - No ? Its kinda too blocky and flat paneled for me but yet I bet I could fix it, give me some clay damnit, Ill put alittle Mitchell sharkedge on it and all will be fine. The Alpha is the one that always brings me down, how about a body kit to turn an Alero into one with a 3.5 transplant. Is there a XP # for that Cutlass 6T8 ? By far not the best Motorama car but interesting non the less.
  23. Looks like a Buick Regal to me ????????? styled after a toned down version of the 1995 production Riviera. Ah , Pontbeekacs ???? Have been nothing but rebadged Buicks and Oldsmobiles for a few decades with little more than a beeked out headerpanel, bubbly tailights, scarified plastic moldings and dumbed down multivent, blacked out interiors with red backlighting. Now today - all of the above but add Holden and Chevy to the list. They have needed help alright. Perhaps saturin is Pontiacs clone ?
  24. I dont understand what brings you to think "government or business to support me" Retirement funds were part of a pay scale. So much money went into a retirement fund rather than the paycheck. It was not a free handout. People had a few thousand dollars a year going into a pension fund. Where the free handout came was at a point where investors of these huge combined sums of money might have made good playing little games or destroyed their value by improper call on investments. Cripes you guys are making it sound like welfare for the workforce. THere was many generations of workers money invested into these retirement funds. Dont twist it into something it is not. That money belongs to the appropriate workers that contributed according to how many years and how much per year. Then Im really not sure where you come up with the "government" "rely", unless you are talking about SSI. Which once again is something all workers have contributed to by law since its inception. Problem is our governments misappropriation of these moneys. Like free aid to immigrants or excessive amounts paid because workers high enough up in the system could stack their income sky high in the last 3 years to get benefits far excedding their contributions. Geeze, whats it like to go through life believing all the older generations have been riding the gravy train ? Myself and many others I know have been working summers since I was 11 and every day since I was 18.3. There are jobs out there that do not allow for "putting away" 401 K were created when the idea came to light that so many would be changing jobs X amount of times in their life, therefore going with them, providing being vested if they should have to start over again. If you not vested and change jobs the money does become a handout to someone's other than the contributor.I dare anyone to come up with the figure of pension and 401K money that became fair game because someone left a job before the 5 or 7 years. Geeze !!!!!!!!!
  25. See, you identified one small fraction of the root of the problem :) Health insurance is a form of socialized healthcare, those that dont get sick help pay for those that have health problems. When everyone starts going to the doctor left and right and the Doctors start perscribing medicine left and right, raiseing their rates left and right, next thing you know insurance rates are going up because there are more using inflated health care than funds contributed. this is same scenario for why all the retirement funds are in trouble in the US
