  1. Im haveing a serious brain connection problem here so help me out. What became of the Mercury ______ ? All I can think is Montego and Manaro of all things. What ever that car was just didnt sell did it? I believe Ive only seen one or two in all these years. Are there any likely reasons other than interest in that type of automobile, or was it priced through the roof. I remember hearing somebody here cryng about it not having enough power but thats something to just throw out the window around here. Its usually the first responce to any car. Please tell me about this Mercury M_____
  2. Well yea, they also lost the NY State Police department, I dont know about other states. They always had a few Victorias too but mostly was all Caprice. It would have been little work to rebody the car or cars. they just cant tell me they didnt sell. I can drive down to the city and drive through the "old" suburbs and still find plenty of Road Masters, Caprices and even the occasional Custom Crusier. Hard to imagine the B body today though, it would probably be well over 4200 lb with all the garbage that seems to be needed in a car today. Theres got to be a way to get the weight back down on cars. Lower weight with a large sedan and HARDTOP, combined with the LS2 & 6sp auto they might have a large car that is still drivable with todays GAS FIASCO. Hell they could even make a SportWagon and Vista Cruiser...I know....the ergonomics just arent there over a minivan or "travelall". Im still waiting for my Buick Kappa ! Go dang it!
  3. I think I like this year. Found this on eBay, it needs lot of work so it might not be the best example in the world but this distance photo sure has some presence. I posted this on another topic as well. But here it is for the Oldsmobile guys
  4. now highly [tuned suspension] would have been a choice that held some pavement
  5. oh yea thats me, my soul purpose for existance is to get a Datsun 510, the styling, the power, plush interior and all the performance features.........sorry I could think of better ways to waste 50 bucks I need substance and will stick with what I know as quality, the rest is irrelevant if the package comes together nicely
  6. Naw - Sly dont have ADD, whats up with drawing that conclusion ? :P Music - Old Aerosmith is the best Areosmith, they were an important pioneer band, right along with Ronnie Montrose and his greatest gift, fat solid guitar riffs and Sammy who was behind the riffs as well. Fat guitar..lets not forget Leslie West Mountain and Nantucket Sleighride, a must have(Mustang http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif ) As for the slow to catch on issue I have one of the best, oldest and saddest.... Led Zeppelin ! I found out about this radically different, heavy, new sound around 70 when they had already cut 3 records, which I promptly bought up and was a die hard , hard rock guitar screaming freak. Then came #4 in 71. I came to this song Stairway to Heaven and wept, smiled, fell to my knees, rolled on the floor and found new emotions I never knew. I played it again and again and again so many repeats that I had to recut the first groves of the song with a needle because it skipped so bad. I told everyone about this amazing band and sound but they ignored and listened to their more basic top fourty stuff. Then around 75 everyone began to catch on and Stairway to Heaven got played to death on the radio, ruined for eternity but that wasnt enough it had another resurgence in the late 70's and really pounded into the ground. It was the theme for our Senior Prom in 1976 - 5 years after I had already scratched my album all to heck, by that time there was this band Rush we non conforms were already jamin but that took a few more years to catch on, Working Man did the trick. What was this topic about ????????? Oh its one of Slys....its OK then B)
  7. I live in NY and could really carless about the problems down south. I dont live their livestyle. I have occasional more minor issus of my own with erosion due to heavy rains and spring thaws. I get no help nor ask for any, I just brake my butt moving rocks and buying stone fill. None of this has anything to do with anything except profits. Gas never went back down after the last storm. Imagine the money people wealthy enough to be in the stock market and invested into oil. Well we were all told 3 years ago it would be a sound investment, I have so little I failed to take the chance. In retrospect it would have worked for me too. Thats what this is all about. Rebuilding the losses the wealthy took after 9-11. Its just like a fixed ballgame and we are the ticket buying captive audience. I really feel bad for those with weekly take homes around the $350-400 bracket. I know they must be spending somewhere close to $50 just for the gas more if they are over a 30 mile commute. I also know many bring home much less and travle further. At least we know we are being served and protected where it really counts by our corporate and political leaders  yarite! "Everybody goin to the party have a real good time"
  8. Well if less government regulation is a good thing then would it be alright to run some pushy asshole in the big Escolade talking on the cellphone into the ditch, then go kill him and remove any available valuable assets from his corpse ? Hell I can probably drive drunk better than most of these idiots on their cell phones can sober. Perhaps we should get rid of the DWI laws ? I dont believe its true that people are just as distracted by company in the car as the cell phone. Something about the cell phone really seems to make many forget that they are even driving. Makeup ? Well with less laws perhaps we could pull them bitches over and give em a poke ? not funny but simply making a point. I beleive they should be pulled over and recieve tickets that have a heavy fine and points, just like cell phone use. We've created extreme alcohol use regulations, bad enough to really screw some peoples lives up, mostly justified but sometimes not. These increased regulations were mostly pressed to the strict point they are now by people that think nothing of driving down the road on their phone, putting makeup on while shaving and screaming at the little soccer players in the back that will become future alcholics due to such extreme pressure during thier youth. Now what are we going to do about sexy ladies walking down the side walks ?
  9. I dont know as though its unique to the cars but it was awsome. THe front split bench was a 50/50 without fold down arm rests. In other words it was litterly a split bench seat. THen both backs reclined nearly perfectly flat without the bad alignment at the hinge point that todays split benches have. I do like my armrests however, I was thinking of making some sort of quick disconnect for the one in the Regency, still there would be that space in the middle and that area where the back meets the bottom does not fold flush. However most importantly is, my wife would question why I was building such a thing
  10. None of the above performance = duration over time American built, Buick or Oldsmobile powered my priorities are straight
  11. Ah.....there is no better time than this second ! If they fail this second theres always tomorow and anytime after that are all good times to kill saturin. There is nothing they have cooking that cant be fixed by Buick. saturin is nothing more than a tool being used by GM officers to destroy the origional heritage and fabric of the giant. So far its been working pretty good. saturin needs one of these followed by one of these and then one of these and another and another and another and another
  12. I love all Aston Martins including the DB2, The DB7 suits me just fine, 335/361 out of a SC 3.2 I6, 14.7@104, 171top, only .85G, great looks, expensive - oh well. It must be that old English blood in me. They bumped it up a little with this car
  13. Well I was no stranger to GM years ago but only through a few friends. Most recently it began only around 10 years ago with one of these in blue Then I got curious and rediscovered one of these but I bought one of these which led to one of these then this kinda sums it all up, for me anyhow
  14. A 1997 DB7 (pig?)
  15. That guys funny, if his reviews are acurate he does bring some good points. I still dont see a Aston Martin as being in the same league as a 911 though so I dont get the comparision. If money is the main issue the Corveette should be the only car mentioned in the artical. The 911 is the most proven sports car ever but is just not all that special anymore due to the volumn and 40 years. After all, this sports car nitch is alot about rarity and individuality and appearence at least in the big dollar more luxury based cars like Aston Martins. I dont think sports cars are marketed toward that same consumer that would prefer large older styled American cars from the 30's-50's. I know I dont have a large interest in the older American cars and HotRods. I do appreaciate them for what they are and were but also realize if one wanted to they could highly scrutinize these cars as well. If I was in the required tax bracket I would surely buy an Aston and park it/ drive it right along with my C6 and my 360 and my 66 Toronado and my 67 Riviera GS. Im sure many thought the Packards, Cadillacs, Auburns, Duesenburgs were a rip off in their day too.
  16. I actually read all of that. Sylv you have issues. Perhaps this is why you're having troubles in paradise ? Good luck - brother !
  17. I dont know where you come up with these but they are far deeper than my mind can handle. Thats alot of paint color knowledge and cross referencing.
  18. Anyhow about the Fiero. It could be better, seems kinda like the Daytona maybe ? Is it the "spoiler" ? I prefer the origional Fiero nose, What is this called the formula or GT nose ?
  19. So on that day the Mullet became a yup yup yup yup yup yup yup yup yuppy ? - yup ! status quo, how stimulating. Then next day he got his nose pierced ? OK, OK, OK , I'll stop.
  20. Yes I agree, they are just about perfect. Thing I am concerned with is the DB body style will eventually need to go somewhere and Im just not sure what could be better, something that would not be a step back. Its a good thing they are very limited volumn. This will help keep them fresh. The fastback without glass just makes them nicer I believe. This is something I must say I wish they would do with the Corvette. I think it is time to do something else besides the glass back, whats it been? nearly 30 years of wrap around glass? I would like to see the return of the sails and removable rear window or perhaps just a windowless fastback. I think there was one Vantage and one Vanquish at Limerock. We looked them over for a long time. The interiors were just so leathery and nice. One was more luxury and one more sporty. The luxury model which was the Vanquish Im assuming ? Had a two tone saddle leather that was so fine with wood trim, I would never be able to get out of one if I could own. Just long enough to eat. This is a 04 DB9 that seems similar I dont remember black steering wheel though, they need to do something there.
  21. Not that at all Sylv, just telling you the effect Hearse's have had on me and why. Im fine now and walk that old hometown cemetary when I visit and remember all those people that were around when I was a boy, I brush the grass clippings off the stones for them and smile, there were my big people when I was young. :) I think we humble as we age......... but I's still ain'st a gonna have me no sex of no kind what so ever in no hearse. B) Im not in that big of a hurry to get to the viagra point :P that might just do it Im afraid.
  22. We went through this pretty hard way back on some "Redneck"/Pontiac thread that turned into the biggest slander of common white country folks I have ever seen. I got really pressed and finally threw out all the other "words" we are not supposed to use that steriotype and degrade certain ethnics and cultures. Things got really quite after that and somehow I didnt make any friends doing exactly what had been done to my "kind". Im sure hopeing I dont ever have to do that again. But I will if pressed, I will not tolerate this BS and it has nothing to do with PC is has to do with decency.
  23. No way Dude ! My Mom died when I was 12. For decades I would always look away from a hearse. I did not return to that Cemetary until Dad died, now I go there and take care of their grave site. Both of my mothers parents are on one side and mine on the other. Im OK with it now but I aint never gonna have sex in a hearse. I will never ride in one either unless thats what they take me from the morgue to the fire in. I hate that death and dead body ritual. Yep I got a bad early implant. I hate horror movies too. Its no joke to me.
  24. So much snobbyness around here. and it just runs rampant, unchecked while its so clear the negitive effects it has on this forum. What is the problem with these people ? If somebody likes something or posts up a picture there are 3 or 4 that have to jump in and cut it down for one reason or the other. Seems some of us are supposed to be ashamed of where we live or how we dress or where we shop or the kind of work we do and finally/mostly because we like some or many of GM's products and powerplants. Its like hanging around with a group of clicky teenage bitches. Like.... who wants to ?
  25. There is a cell phone law in NY State. Ive always wondered why we cant have an input jack in sterio system for phone that seems to be the biggest problem is hearing and holding. Headsets kinda suck dont they ? I dont like CB's much but have had to use them for a few Blacktop jobs I did. They are very easy to use and do not distract from driving because you can hear real well and dont need to hold something up to your ear. I think this sterio idea is awsome. Then a larger pad & display higher on the dash for calling and identifing. As for teenage drivers, its just scary period. You must think, if one bad driver has and teaches two children how to drive you now have 3 bad drivers. Like my wife teaching my daughter how to drive. The horror !
