I could definitely get by with something like an eGolf as my commuter car, it has two days worth of mileage for me. I just wish it had AWD. My driveway faces south and is fairly inclined. lots of melting on it in the winter that freezes by the time I get home in the evening and have to drive up it.

For the last 3 years or so, I've listened to more AM talk radio than FM Music. For music I stream Spotify for the most part.

Does this mean no more youtube videos of guys failing to ramp their bikes on to their pickup truck beds? -
I would guess the Compass has canibalized the Cherokee sales.. If you need a spacious CUV the Cherokee is not the answer, so the cheaper, almost the same size Compass is a good option.

August 2017: American Honda Motor Co.

People seem to be snapping up the old Accord before the new one with its relatively polarizing styling arrives. Will be interesting to see how the new one sells compared to the old Accord and the new Camry.- 3 replies

Hyundai News:Hyundai Spills the Beans on 2018 Accent for U.S.
frogger replied to William Maley's topic in Hyundai
Pretty decent for its class, I'm thinking a barebones trim with hubcaps and higher profile tires would be harder on the eyes. -
I've seen some video reviews of this, and they are all very positive. Would be nice if it could go more than 33 miles on pure electric but for such a big vehicle its overall economy numbers and road manners are excellent. Pretty expensive for what people expect a Chrysler minivan product to cost though, that might be its biggest hurdle.

Some of it I could get used to, but windshield wipers by touchscreen? Seriously? At least have voice recognition as an alternative.. "Set temperature to 72","Turn wipers on low"- 21 replies

Maybe the newer modular platforms the class leaders have developed safely allow for that location. The new 2018 Camry and Accord hybrids have little or no storage compromise, Sonata and Optima do a much better job in that area than the Malibu.
-
I think GM invests the bare minimum in hybrid aside from the Volt, maybe they are waiting until pure-EV's is the way to go. Only Toyota and luxury makers seem to be doing much in the way of hybrids.
-
GM couldn't even figure out his to put the Malibu hybrid batteries under the back seat like just about everyone else has by now...so you are left with a joke of a trunk for a "family" car.

Volvo News: Whoops! Volvo Hungary Accidently Reveals 2018 XC40
frogger replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
Not sure I like that kick-up being part of the back doors or the Camry XSE style black roof . I would have been happier without them, just a mini-XC90 which it otherwise appears to be would have been fantastic. I wonder if it will get engines that are both supercharged and turbocharged like the XC90. I would settle for an XC60 Turbocharged/Supercharged/Plug In Hybrid though. -
Genesis News: Genesis G70 is Korea's 3-Series Challenger
frogger replied to William Maley's topic in Genesis
I like it, but as already mentioned it is now a crowded segment, and probably not one with a lot of growth in it any time soon given the preference for CUVs.... I'm sure Genesis would much rather be unveiling their X3/Q5 etc competitor. I also expect the Tesla Model 3 to impact this segment. -
Nice enough, but like the current CTS I'm guessing these will depreciate a bunch quickly and be available pretty cheap with warranty left over.

Nissan News: 2018 Nissan Leaf Boasts More Range and Lower Price
frogger replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
So Equinox, Malibu, Rogue, Altima sized 235 mile range EVs would not outsell the Bolt and Leaf because "Versatility for those who see through the marketing BS that is a CUV". Ok then -
Interesting projections that EV powertrains will be cheaper than ICE within 10 years due to battery costs lowering substantially. No big surprises with the Leaf, it is a interesting alternative to the Bolt, being 10 inches longer with the cargo space to show for it, but lower range and performance. In Canada the midrange model with the autonomous features is about $3K less than a base Bolt. If they released an AWD version for the same price as the base Bolt, I would have been very tempted with the 14K incentives here. First gen sold 250,000+ units worldwide, will this one manage that with the increased competition here and incoming?
