  1. What new car doesn't have plain exterior styling? The Mazda 3 is one of the very few I can think of. A Cobalt LT with rear spoiler and bodyside moldings looks far less plain than a generic Corolla. If these moron editors actually think that a Corolla, Civic, Focus, Sentra or Elentra look anything but plain and dull then they need to leave there crack pipes home. I always have to laugh when these newer writers start talking about car styling and immediately criticize a vehicle that is more than a few years old. So typical of the throw away video game computer generation.
  2. Just as exciting as the new Lexus, I mean BMW, I mean Mercedes Genesis clone. At least that car has a V8 and RWD though so that does count for something on this board.
  3. Is this blind test in reference to the fact that it's bland generic styling will make it blend right into traffic and no one will see it.
  4. But don't you see....that is WHY this article came out a few days after it was revealed how $h!ty Toyota treats there employees. There lies, deceits and coverups show no bounderies.
  5. Wow each generation is a degeneration of the previous model. More proof that Toyo can't style a car to save there lives.
  6. You mean polish a Turdra and it's still a Turd.
  7. It looks like a 2010 Camry or something and that isn't saying much.
  8. Renters may not notice the difference but regular customers like me may. It's odd that they would drop a fuel saving device like this unless of course it was troublesome. They also still list the 2009 Impala 3900 at 233 HP and 240 Torque like the AFM engines. I wonder if they just reprogrammed the chip to not drop to 3 cylinder mode or something
  9. Sorry but this car does nothing for me. Very bland and Lexus generic and once again un-Buick like. I am seeing too much foreign car and not enough Buick here. Yes the slight character line is ok but why no bodyside molding. Stripping the bodyside molding off makes it look plain and generic like a Lexus. The rear end could be any Korean car and the front, other than the grille, looks like anything else. The silly strip of chrome on the bottom of the doors, once again copying Lexus/Hyundai Genesis, Lincoln MKS etc, is downright dumb and misplaced as the bottom of the doors are often where sand and dirt brush up against the cars and wear the surface away and are subject to curb scrapes etc. The interior is nothing special either and looks too broken up with cut lines, too many differing surfaces and the usual lack of color...gray black and tan. I live for the day when we will see a nice blue or burgandy interior again but with todays simple plain blah thinking that will never happen.
  10. The worst part is that the 2006 Monte/Impala 3900 which did not have DOD put out 242 HP and 242 torque. Here we are in 2009 with a 3900 without DOD putting out only 227 HP and 237 torque in a larger, heavier car and a more upsacle car to boot! Typical GM- one step forward and two back thinking going on here.
  11. Just saw some 09 Lucernes freshly delivered. Shockingly they were rated at one better city and highway than last years 3800 V6 at 17/26 vs 16/25. And these are non AFM 3900's from what I can tell. They must have coaxed a tad more mileage out of the regular detuned 227 HP version of this engine compared to the G6 convertible with it's 15/22 rating. The Lucernes 2.93:1 gears probably help too!
  12. The 2009 Cobalt has even better fuel economy numbers as follows: 5 speed stick 25/37 4 speed auto 24/33 Very competitive numbers indeed.
  13. The late 60's and early 70's small blocks were some very stout engines along with the THM 350 and 400 automatic trannys. I have seen many 500K-700K Impalas, Biscaynes and pickups reported over the years. My great uncle has a 1983 Park Ave with the Olds 307 with 310K on the original engine with the only things needing attention being the timing chain, intake and valve cover gaskets. The engine still runs good and doesn't smoke. Those early 5A head 307's were very reliable engines too. I think there is an 80's Toro with 500K in the guinness book of world records.
  14. The exterior is a yawner like any Toyota or Asian product in general today. And I would think that with todays fuel prices that cars with 30 and above mileage ratings would be more beneficial to the brand.
  15. 1) 2000 LeSabre Custom with factory moonroof, full power and trunk mounted 12 disk CD changer 2) Possibly a Lucerne if the lame brains at GM use the AFM version of this engine otherwise nothing existing or even the Toyota like 2010 LaCrosse replacement even remotely interests me anymore. Buick had a WAYYYYY more interesting lineup in the 80's and 90's. What the hell happened?
  16. 1)1998 Grand Prix SE 3800 sedan 2) Only if Pontiac makes some exciting good looking cars again with Pontiac styling. Would consider a Trans Am if they brought that back and made it look sexy with a fuel efficient engine.
  17. I'm not digging this car at all from what i'm seeing. The exterior looks foreign and not Buick like. The interior is just trying too hard with all it's tacked on padding, stitching and cut lines everywhere you look. I'll probably get lambasted for saying this but I like the current car much better other than it's old tech 3800/4 speed automatic and Lexus cloned head lights.
  18. I like the current exterior better but the interior seems like an improvement.
  19. The 3 things they did to the coupe that I never liked were the silly bugs bunny front grille, massive oversized rear wing on the GXP and elimination of the door molding which makes the car look bloated and plain, much like an Asian car. This is a stupid so called clean styling direction todays clueless designers are taking but to just eliminate them on an existing car is ludicrous. At least give us the option to delete the dumb rear spoiler and add the door molding if we want it. Also why can't the center stack be redesigned like the Malibus and more interior colors offered?
  20. Give me an old fashioned bodyside door molding and lose the stupid useless fender vent. Are designers today so clueless? The first old fart with a big heavy door that parks next to this thing will crease that door up so bad and that makes a car worthless to me.
  21. They just keep getting fatter, blander, plainer and uglier at the same time. Amazing that Toyota is such a success in NA.
  22. About what I ecpected. Blander, more bloated, slab sided and a more Malibu front end grafted on. So typical of todays gen cars. If the mileage reaches 40, it should be a resounding success though.
  23. The new Challenger is not a 3 decade old design, it just has similar styling and rear drive and a V8 engine. The V8 engine is a modern Hemi design, the chassis is a modern rear drive setup from the 300C and the retro styling works far better than any bland BMW or Lexus appliance that is being shoved down our throats today.
  24. I'll second that.
  25. Big Dr Who fan here also. The new series is one of the few bright spots in these troubled times we live in.
