  1. Look at it this way...if we are wrong (and global warming is a hoax) and we take action, it is at worst an inconvenience. If global warming is true and we take no action, we could become extinct as a species. I'd rather take action than become extinct. Chris
  2. Used to drive by the Doraville plant every day when I lived in Atlanta. I moved back to Columbus Ohio mainly because of Traffic, noise and the cost of commuting. The job I had was as an electrical foreman and I was expected to be able to work anywhere in the metro area, from Douglasville to Villa Ricca to Gainsville to Peachtree City to wherever...so commuting wa a huige problem. If I could live in one part of Atlanta and work there (like live/work Peachtree city area, etc,) I would live in Atlanta in a minute. Georgia is probably the most under-rated state in the country...lived briefly in Augusta and almost moved again to Savannah. When I die one of the great regrets of my life will be that I never stayed in Georgia. That being said, Atlanta has its downsides. A huge unasimilated Hispanic population, traffic, the cost of decent housing inside of the outerbelt, public schools as a general rule are not that good (although a few are excellent). Upsides would be great professional sports, eight million great places to eat out, Chastain park is beautiful, people are friendly, winters are mild... Just my two cents on the place... Chris
  3. Glad to see that nice IROC ragtop, mighty mouse. Figure I should have about 6 to 8 thou saved by spring and I am looking/checking out the market now. I've seen a million beaten to death Camaro's of the third gen flavor come up for sale but very few really nice cars. Chris
  4. Getting rid of the UAW is a fantasy at this point, boys. Besides, if the union did go and wages were cut to the level people want them cut to, there would be bad blood between the work force and GM for decades. Chris
  5. How hard is it to find decent third gen camaro's that haven't been destroyed or rusted to death...talking about maybe a V-8 Manual car... Chris
  6. Color is nice, but I am with Fly, I don't like the styling. Chris
  7. HHR lightly used Mini lightly used previous gen Civic SI would be a hatch, keep its value, and handle well. Astra Don't like much else that has been suggested. Chris
  8. ...although unlike the Fiero GM did this car right. I can hardly wait for depreciation to kick in so I can buy a GXP Solstice for about 20k in pristine used condition. Right now they are still holding their value to well used. Chris
  9. A freshened Colorado would be sweet, DF. Chris
  10. Happy birthday eldi... Chris
  11. Happy birthday Jessie! Maybe you could borrow the B-59 from sixty-8 and take her out someplace nice.... Chris
  12. This is just pathetic. I'd never buy a hyundai. Alas, the Korean bastards seem to be able to sell well to female buyers for some reason. Chris
  13. I do love the color on that. And yes, it was a good idea, too bad they didn't sell as well as they should have. Chris
  14. +1 on the Muslim thing. I don't see anything wrong with the way she was dressed. Chris
  15. Depends. I figure that it costs me about a thousand bucks to run a car 10,000 miles given repair-depreciation-tires-etc. Everything but gas and insurance. A new Aura or Cobalt could do that, or a twenty year old Impala could do that. I think the key is to drive a car beyond the first few years of its life. Although I am like you, I've owned over 20 cars and only one was new. But cars are getting more complicated and I am kind of thinking about buying my next car new just because so much can go wrong to one of the newer-more complicated cars if it is abused IMHO. That and I fantasixe about being able to go back in History and buy a 63 Split window or a ram air 69 Firebird new. Chris
  16. The TC isn't a bad car, but it is like the Tibron and is actually built on a sedan chasis. Drive a TC and a Civic Si back to back and it is no competition. Granted the SI is 3-4 thousand more, but the TC is not an actual "sports car." Lots of little things (Handleling, the way it shifts, not as smooth as a Civic or even a Cobalt, slightly awkward interior, fuel economy in the real world does not match Cobalt SS or Civic S, etc.) put it out of the class of being "desireable" IMHO. Chris
  17. Actually this is a case where you should be able to sell on "car" as well as price. IMHO the Malibu is actually a nicer car than the Accord, and I would buy a Malibu if they were priced the same. Shockingly, I've talked to several people lately who agree with me on this. Chris
  18. Scion/Totyta totally effed up on the new xB, needs to refresh the TC, and the xd is just plain goofy. I don't look for Scion to be around in five years. Seriously. They are the equal of a one hit wonder band (the original xB was kind of cool) but the other products leave a lot to be desired. Chris
  19. The Rabbit is not a good car, period. The build quality is just not there, 5 cyl motor is not fuel efficient, car has a worse interior layout than the golf... Why do you think the Opel has passed the Rabbit in european sales? Chris
  20. I could not agree more. Lots of people were turned off with the old Saturns, lots of people are being turned on with the new. Competition and the need for companies to survive is a dandy thing. Chris
  21. Can't blame you for being burned up, that is just piss poor marketing on their part. Chris
  22. Seriously, like I have said before here in the midwest amoung guys that actually use their trucks the TURD is a joke. I would much rather sell FORD/DODGE/GM than Toyota when it comes to trucks. Chris
  23. I am going to seriously look at the 08 Malibu when it comes out. We are going to be in the market for a new car next year and while I don't like the styling quite as well as the Mazda 6 I do like the car much better than even the new Accord. ...and I do agree with Dodgefan on the good enough thing. GM is capable of building vehicles that are over the top good. Look at the STS, CTS, Corvette, The new Crossovers, etc. They just need to go after the small car/midsize market with more heart. Chris
  24. Yeah, caddycruiser they are a sweet car. Just wish that I could afford one. Chris
  25. How about the "Homeless Shelter" special edition. We could put all of thsoe trucks that are just sitting on dealer lots to work housing the homeless. ....and since the trucks would never need to move we wouldn't even need to worry about bad camshafts...or bad fuel economy. Chris
