  1. My guess-1958 Ford Fairlane Retractable. Am I close? Chris
  2. At least it's faster than a Corolla. Chris
  3. With the value Rat Rodders are putting on "Patina" I hope Fly gave you at least ten grand for that thing. Amazing what a mere 50 years in the salt belt will do to a car. Chris
  4. Import Humper... Buys American! One of the guys I work with was telling us Friday how he was going to go out and buy a car. Told the guys on the crew that a Honda was not good enough for him and only an Acura would do. Kevin Laughed in my face when I told him he might consider domestic cars. Told me I was nuts for even thinking it. So this morning in the parking lot before work, we are all shooting the bull and drinking coffe and...Kevin rolls up in a metallic red Mustang GT convertible. Says he loves it and thanks me for suggesting American products. He told me it was really obvious American products had improved dramatically. Too bad the Camaro and Challenger were not in production yet...would have been cool for him to have had some more choices. Not that I think the Mustang was a bad choice by any means. He should be really happy with the car. (And yes I got to ride in it.) Chris
  5. Lately I've seen a bunch of older (past 50) guys driving really riced Honda's. I have no idea why. Chris
  6. Do you guys have a link to BON? Chris
  7. ...Ford looks like it will be the real looser here. G.M. seems to be doing well around here, but the midwest has always been more of a domestic stronghold. Chris
  8. The Mini is a cool little car and I'd like to own one...however they seem to suffer from the same reliability problems that VW/Benz/BMW/Audi are having. Chris
  9. ...lookslike we are off to a good start... Chris
  10. Tell her! Even if she laughs in your face it is better than being 70 years old and wanting to know..."now what would have happened if..' Also, if she does say no you will be more emotionally ready to look for another relationship. Chris
  11. Actually while I was on the referenced website I looked at photos of a Mazda 3. The Pontiac G6 held up remarkably better I thought in a side impact crash. G.M. should easily be able to fix the seat bracket and public pressure will probably put side airbags in all modern cars. I'd gladly buy a G6 after reading this. Chris
  12. Actually the Astro isn't that bad of a design. I've seen several badly wrecked ones in salvage yards and they ain't anywhere in the same leauge as that VW. Chris
  13. When my buddy Tim bought his Lexus he drove in wearing work clothes (he is an electrician like I am) and driving an ancient Ford Ranger work truck. They informed him (without checking his credit) that there was no way he could afford a lexus and suggested that he go somewhere else to buy a much cheaper car. He asked to see the sales manager and informed him that he was putting 20k down on a 40k vehicle. Tim got one hell of a deal and one hell of an apology from the sales manager. The saleman that initially greeted him got one of God's own original ass reaming. Chris
  14. Fuel filter. Astro's need them changed regularly. Chris
  15. My next car 4 grand more for what I want in a small car is not a problem. However, let's give the Cobalt some credit. It is a very, very good small car. For where it is priced it is amazingly close in some ways to Civic/Mazda 3. Chris
  16. Go to an SCCA race or autocross sometime. The old Neon was a GREAT handeling car with the right tweaks. Watch them go through turn 7-8 at speed at Mid Ohio or around Oak Tree bend at Nelson Ledges. Great cars. Probably one of the best driving/handeling cars of the 90's if it is on decent tires with decent shocks/struts. Chris
  17. The element is an older design. It is heavy for a 4 cyl. vehicle. My wife loves it but I wouldn't buy it for various reasons. The Ridgeline just plain looks like ass... Chris
  18. This thing is too ugly to even destroy...wow that's bad. Chris
  19. Actually I like both the Element and the Aztec thank you very much sir. Actually the Aztec is not that far from the Equinox in some ways. Chris
  20. To the right kind of female, being green is really hot. To me hybrids are cool, I just wonder about the real world practical nature of them. My friends Bert and Cathy LOVE their Prius, however. They went from spending $60-100 with their Olds Bravada per week to spending $13 with the Prius. That was when Gas was $1.89 a gallon too! Chris
  21. On the one hand, this is supposed to be an A-political portion of the forum. On the other hand I've never felt worse about our national leadership in my entire life and I'm 41 years old. Chris
  22. Wow, wonder how my Inlaws will view this article...they are very conservative and swear by Consumer Reports... Chris
  23. Good to see Jr. back in the top ten. I'd like to see Jaun Montoya in a Chevy, he is a great driver and would do a great job representing the General... Chris
  24. So you are very happy with the Hybrid then? I have not heard glowing reports of the Honda Hybrid. Chris
  25. Probably everything toytoa makes will have a hybrid model within the next 5 years or so. They are already building a bunch of Lexus Hybrids. Chris
