  1. Okay Dfelt, 9 minutes of my life gone watching the Kia EV 3 video twice. That is a game changer. That thing is seven kinds of good looking, seems practical. Could see that in the driveway next to the Ranger.
  2. Its like an atom splitting apart in the cosmic sense, all of the good energy went to you, all of the bad energy went to Elon. It was meant to be....think of the giant asshole you would be were he never to have been born. She seems like an awesome lady. My last grandmother passed away in 1982, the first one passed away in 69 or 70. It couldn't happen to better folks.... I can't wait for whatever insane symbols the fed puts on our money.... Yeah, and the jerks seem to be gone from C and G, enjoying my stay here as of late. The only really attractive vehicles IMHO are current Cadillacs and Audis. Might be just the ticket.
  3. I so want to travel. Going places just makes me want to see more.
  4. Mexico City will be my next big trip, although I am going to Virginia and the Carolinas next month.
  5. Two 61 Olds at back end of video, 4 doors. Cathartic watching cars get crushed. Beatles cover, music to enjoy Tuesday to. The Cello in this is just to die for.
  6. That actually was a great article. Thank you. We need to discuss entry level electric cars (non Tesla, Elon is a jerk.)
  7. I could spend a year just exploring the place. Sadly, lots of other places I want to explore. Another Ugly unreliable piece of crap....at insane pricing. Getting ready to read the EV portion of this. Thank you. Thinking an EV might do well alongside the Ranger.
  8. That was a cool car for its era. Right now, I would be happy to own something simple to go along the Ranger, which now has 101,000 miles on it due to all of my road trips. You were right about the Ranger, it might actually be my all time favorite vehicle. For what it is worth, I usually hate vehicles before I love them. I have no idea why. As a kid, hated 55-57 Chevy's and First gen Mustangs, then fell in love with them. Two of my favorite cars were a 55 Chevy 2 door and a 66 Mustang Fastback. Hated Miatas and then spent several years driving them and racing them. Ranger has done well for me. Fuel economy has dropped at bit at 100k, even after a full tune up. America has made its choice, I am done with loyalty to the country. Actually I loved visiting Phoenix, and something like a Subaru Crosstrek would be perfect for there. So many places in Arizona to go explore. You didn't like Arizona but it actually is one of my favorite states. If it were not 110 degrees 9 months of the year, and about to run out of water, I could see living there. God only knows. It brings out a Mad Max sort of vibe...be cool to buy one of those Chevy Colorado ZR2 based military vehicles for urban use.
  9. I need to live multiple lives. Always wanted to do drag racing, but got into autocross and SCCCA stuff instead. So if I could go back and live again, one future/alternate live would be lived a quarter of a mile at a time. America has become an idiocracy. “I have a foreboding of America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time–when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all of the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; with our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. And when the dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites now down to 10 seconds or less, lowest-common-denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.” ― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
  10. I own everything that I want to own that is imported at the moment. The two big ticket (moderately) items that I wanted (set of speakers, and a bandsaw) bought used at a great price. Other than a stylus from Japan (Nagaoka) for my turntable, I doubt I buy much that is imported. I own a ton of clothes. See, if I could figure out which knee is bad, I would be happy. About the time the left one heals up, the right one starts getting sore. Sounds like it is a great year to hike, listen to music, and do woodworking. I have a huge stack of lumber, 800 LP albums, and several pair of hiking boots. The entire thing is an operation in stupidity. Cutting federal jobs, and Social Security/Medicare will have adverse affects as well. I don't want to get into politics. Done being invested in it at this point. Want to retire to Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, El Salvador, Uruguay, Portugal or Spain. Living for the day I can hike every day rather than work.
  11. Quick Mopar photo, 1970 Roadrunner. Faculty Jazz concert at the university where I work. Lastly, spinning vinyl on my Linn turntable. Thanks for letting me share photos of what I have been up to! Ohhh, and Road tripping with this gang, the debate team I coach. Awkwardly getting ready to have a photo taken after a tournament, Detroit.
  12. Ornamental Metals museum, Memphis. My apologies if any of these are repeat photos. I had a great time. Sign of the times. Ethiopian Food in Memphis, because why eat BBQ in a city famous for it? Cool stuff everywhere, stumbled on this in Nashville, another amazing city we visited. I love Nashville.
  13. The room Dr King stayed the last night of his life, National Civil Rights Museum. Memphis. Memphis Sculpture in Memphis. Beale Street in Memphis
  14. Lots of places we explored in Oklahoma No grass grew under our wheels Hot Springs Arkansas Pinnacle Rock, in Arkansas. Twas a bit of a climb Arkansas 9, from the Museum near the high school in Little Rock that was at the center of the integration controversy. Vintage picture.
  15. Wife near the memorial bench, on our hike. I look older all of the time, motivation for me to "get out and walk while I have legs. " More broken bow... Glad I drove a pickup truck down south, no one else drives one there and it was easy to find my vehicle as it stood out as one of a kind. Old Shoe Box Ford abandoned in Oklahoma.
  16. Grateful for every minute, every day on this earth. Obituary https://www.clardyfuneralservice.com/obituary/Lillian-Patterson
  17. Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo When you need a little more height for the photo... Steam locomotive on Display in Amarillo. Paris, Texas. Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
  18. Music for Thursday. Elon Musk is a moron of biblical proportions. I so want to visit Europe next year. My German Thorens TD 160 turntable, still spinning fine after almost 50 years. An actual soup can from the 1960's,,, More from the railroad museum Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo
  19. Awesome That sound like a rational option I really think that America is a good place to eventually be from. That being said, I love American music. Music is Americas gift to the world. Of at least that much I am proud.
  20. Scene from the model railroad at the Amarillo Railroad Museum. 69 Mustang in Traffic. The traffic light actually works!
  21. We hiked a bit, this is from Keystone Ancient Forrest, oldest growth forest in Oklahoma. Keystone Ancient Forest hike. I decided to visit Oral Roberts University, where my sister thought of attending. She thankfully chose another school 40 or so years ago. But have always wanted to see it. Came to grips with some of the religious trauma in my life, and everyone there was friendly. From The First Nations Museum in Oklahoma City. Neat old roadside Ford Truck, Route 66. Abandoned gas station, Route 66
  22. It would be a few years for us. My wife will get a nice pension when she retires from the state of Ohio, and my investments are doing well. Would mean giving up my woodworking shop, but for a chance to emigrate, I think it would be worth it. Wife and I exploring a small Kansas town along Route 66. Brick in a Kansas museum. IT stands for Indian Territory, so it pre dates Kansas. Woodworking tools in a Kansas Museum, Baxter Springs Kansas. Fire Engine from the same museum.
  23. Missouri had a surreal beauty all its own...and no that isn't a dig at a member here. The whole experience of hiking in Missouri was wild...I loved it. More Missouri. American flag made out of Kansas lic plates. Route 66 in Kansas....
  24. Visited this as my last stop on my trip west, it is amazing. Visiting a bunch of Native American sites, The First Nations Museum in Oklahoma City, a ton of Civil war sites, The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, The high school in Little Rock Arkansas that was at the center of the integration controversy, and realizing so much of our country's troubled past really put the last election into perspective. I think that America is like a grafted tree...the root stock of racism, hate, bigotry, nativism, and misogyny will seemingly always spring back up. The Mound From the top of "Monks Mound" you can see St Louis from the top of the mound. The arch should be very visible in this photo. The whole park feels very much like a sacred space. I really wanted to hike Black Mesa in the far NW corner of Oklahoma but weather prevented that. You can walk to NM and Colorado from the Black Mesa trail, and it is the highest point on Oklahoma.
