  1. Nice!
  2. O RLY? I'm too big to fit comfortably in MOST cars and I'm not overweight at all... As far as the original question, I'd love to have a car that doesn't kill my back. (Probably one of the reasons I have sciatic nerve trouble and arthritis in my neck at the ripe age of 29 is shoving myself into tiny pony cars all my life) But I much prefer the driving dynamics of a smaller car. My Focus was an absolute blast to drive... Actually, it was more fun than my current Mustang GT in a lot of ways.
  3. I know, right? After the last few days of 105 degree heat index, 87 felt like fall today.
  4. That Power Wagon is just like my fiances, except hers is brown and tan with white wheels () Love that red '57 with the checkered side piece! Also love that orange & white '55. It's very rare to see a third gen F-body as nice as the black one. I'm also diggin' that orange Chevy truck. It's always nice to see a restored Chevy vega. That red 442 is awesome!
  5. Rage is a beautiful thing and a natural human reaction... Despite what the pussy brigade that is Cheers & Gears tells you. What everyone is missing here is that you were "mature enough" not to cut the guy off, immediately get out of the car and jerk his sorry ass of the motorcycle in the first place.
  6. Maybe I'll go see it now... I was planning to avoid it, given how bad the second one was.
  7. Awesome! Congratulations.

  9. Fun with night photography... This is only my second attempt at this brand of fun.
  10. That's a very common complaint. I know Charlotte stuck with Vics because the Charger was "too small"
  11. I'm not sure that I will. It all depends on what help he needs. When he needs me, he basically calls me up a few days in advance. It all depends on what bids he wins (and spending on this sort of thing is no where near what it was before the economy took a crap) Not to mention; I start my new job in a week so I'll be working days instead of nights. Maybe I can just drop by the shop one night if he gets any Caprices. I'll keep everyone posted.
  12. I think the "Made in America" thing is one aspect. But the biggest perceived problem, in my opinion, is parts availability. I say perceived because it isn't really a problem at all. But these agencies are looking into replacement parts and finding out that GTO and G8 buyers are already having a hard time getting parts (in some cases) and it's scaring them away. They must have access to replacement parts because these cars 1) are put through hell and 2) it's absolutely unacceptable for the agency to NOT be able to serve the community if needed. I think Dodge will be the big winner on the Police vehicle front. Ford was dumb for not having a suitable replacement for the Panther. A lot of these departments WILL run their Panthers into the ground (by continuously rebuilding them). Some departments will conform to the Taurus, but a lot of them wont. GM appears too risky with the Caprice and the Tahoe just isn't logical for most departments. The idea is to get the most car (size and power) for the money. GM will lose because their only competitive entry will cost too much to maintain if parts become slim. Ford will lose because nobody in their right mind would buy a Taurus over a Charger for this kind of use.
  13. I *might* luck out and get some wheel time in a Caprice. The guy I contract with (Well I don't really get paid, he's actually just a good friend of mine and I enjoy the work. But to stay legal; I'm contracted) said that most of the agencies around here are opting to go with these instead of the Caprice. After driving a few of them, a Caprice would be a hard sell to me. I've always been a GM man, but driving the Charger makes me not even want to step foot into a GM showroom anymore.
  14. No rental... Future police vehicle Notice the post lights and the factory equipped laptop bracket where the console usually is. These each have the small Hemi. (5.7L 370hp) They're very well equipped for police vehicles. The Interceptor Vics I helped build and drive last year were 'stripped' in comparison to these.
  15. I'm in love.... Oh, and pardon the crappy iPhone pix; I haven't had a chance to snap any good photos yet. I actually like this grill set up better than the SRT8 This one only had 2 miles on it when I started my trip.
  16. Most rural departments began switching to AWD chassis back in the 90's. Either this FD is po-dunk or they're just lazy bastards. 'But FOG, what if they get stuck and get another emergency.' Doesn't matter... ISO qualifications (here in NC at least) require you to equip your fire department with at least 2 'Class A' pumpers just in case something like this happens. (Most rural departments have 2 Class As and a 3rd large pumper or tanker at least, not to mention a light duty 'brush' pumper) And even still, mutual aid agreements FURTHER ensure the safety of that set up anyway. There is absolutely NO reason this plane should've burned. I hope the Liberty Foundation launches an investigation against the department.
  17. Un-f@#kin-believable! Even if the field was too soft (which is bull$h!) 1) they could've attacked it from a distance and 2) they could've extinguished the flames, then towed the truck out of the field. It's not like we're dealing with something easily replaced here. If I were the chief of that Dept, I'd be doing everything in my power, including handing extinguishers to my men, to save this jewel. Firefighters these days are a sad example of what they used to be. It seems that insurance and bureaucracy dictates EVERYTHING they do... Here's a thought guys; YOU signed up for the job, now get your asses out there and get it done. So glad I got to see this jewel twice... Too bad I never had the money to ride in it.
  18. Delta does not attend strategy meetings in the Pentagon. They run a business. And?! 1) They violated a contract with probably one of their biggest and best customers. So they aren't running their business well. And 2) these people risk their lives so that Delta fat cats can stay rich and happy. They shouldn't be charged for anything IMO.
  19. Nice!!! Go fight our war... At your OWN expense!
  20. NO! Don't trust them to change your oil. I worked at a GM Quick Lube for about 2 weeks before I got fed up and quit. The lack of BASIC knowledge appalled me. "The Sup" claiming that Hyundais were Hondas "That's just their new logo" (about the Hyundai H) The oil gauge was broken too, so we had to figure out how much oil we were putting in the cars by "the number of clicks" and "The Sup" knew the capacities for all cars (no reference needed) "That's a Honda (which was actually a Hyundai); it's gets 4 clicks." It's very hard to find a good mechanic these days, especially someone who respects your $h!. I've had to fix things on my Camaros right and left from where one of my shops (and I actually knew these people real well) kept effing up the paint. Finally, my body guy (who I've known and dealt with for over 10 years now) offered to fix the last debacle for free just because he felt bad for me.
  21. That is what I'm shooting with now and I couldn't be more happy. (I'm not sure if you're my friend on Facebook, but some of my photography is on my page) It seems to take excellent pictures and has a Manual mode to provide more control. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to photography, but I'd highly recommend it. EDIT: Nice! I didn't realize this thread had been around as long as it has when I initially replied.
  22. Reminds me a lot of this And that's not a bad thing
  23. Somebody would get a MAJOR ass whipping if that were my car... In fact; I'd be parading my friends 'mr. baseball bat, 'mr. crowbar' and 'mr..45' over to HIS house to showcase the ass that we'd be whipping once he turned a sure and true 19 years old.
