  1. Wow... Let's recommend that jobless people buy cars from the domestics. That'll surely bankrupt them! Here's a novel idea: if you don't have a job, don't buy a f*cking car.... Do we really need to even think about this?
  2. It's okay to be scared, guys You're probably the same type that stares at me in awe or ridicules me when I walk through the door in a public place. Because I make you uncomfortable... I'm different and that scares you. It's the same reason people discriminate or refuse to be fearless in a city at night. I understand that we don't all have the same taste in cars. (And that's one reason Pontiac... The SOUL of what Pontiac was and is appeals to me so much... Because it DOESN'T appeal to you.) That said, I'm not going to trash a thread because of that insecurity.
  3. AHH!!! I love it!!! (You guys know that I'm a hot rodder, and hot rodders SWEAT THE DETAILS) Details are what make a design in my eyes. Oh, and after looking at the nose some more. I don't think the grille is the awkward part. I think the exaggerated area around the foglights is what throws a lot of people. I see a lot of Outlook in that lower bumper design (And that was one of the details I LOVED about the Outlook). My GF said the front of the Terrain reminds her of the Escalade "at first glance" Of course, EVERYONE in the media is ratcheting up the "badge engineering" bull$h! since that is GM's weak spot right now. Clearly, this is no more "badge engineered" than the Camry/ES. However, I'm sure they're trying to get Uncle Sam to convince GM to destroy yet another one of it's priceless brands.
  4. america... land of the greedy, home of the ignorant.
  5. And it pains me... LOL I'm just sayin' You and I are NOT the kind of people that will buy GM cars in huge numbers. (although I would buy this Terrain) GM must appeal to those people and I say go for it, so long as they still have a corner of the empire with the kind of cars I will buy (Corvette Z06, CTS-V, G8 GXP, Solstice GXP, Camaro Z28, HHR SS, H3 Alpha )
  6. I love trading stuff like this... Around here, people trade car stuff for services all the time. The first work I had done on my '73 was in trade for my labor around the shop. LOL, memories...
  7. God, I'd love to go to Detroit... My GF an I go "urban exploring" here in old industrial complexes. It's something that is very popular with architectural students across the country. problem is, you can get 1) injured and 2) charged. We'd have a BLAST in Detroit!
  8. Sorry to hear that, man... I always take the loss of pets a lot harder than the loss of people. (unless it's an immediate family member) I feel that people can control their own destiny and know that something bigger awaits. Not to mention, pets are so loyal. You gave her a loving home and a great life, I believe she's in a better place now.
  9. I gotta disagree.... I think the new Equinox, Terrain and SRX (and 9-4X) are an EXCELLENT sign of things to come from GM. They're 1) volume focused 2) VERY competitive on efficiency 3) VERY competitive on price 3) Appealing and UNIQUE (although I would've liked more differentiated interiors and powerplants. Apparently EVERY GM division will share the same 3 powerplants going forward and 4) Nice enough and substantial enough to attract import intenders. I think the Equinox will be a home run, the Terrain will be a huge hit and the SRX will eventually build the volume that Cadillac apparently desires.
  10. I love the chrome wheels.... Also, have any of you noticed the resemblance to the Yukon with the big grille? That's likely the 'idea'
  11. Yeah... The market isn't migrating to crossovers, and smallER crossovers at that, at all.... The more I look at this thing, the more I like it... It's MUCH better looking than, say, a CRX. It also reminds me a lot of the Nissan Xterra current and past. (Which means it'll be an even bigger hit) RE: Dodge Journey and Nitro I love the Nitro as well... The Journey... Well, it is so bland that I didn't even notice it until 2 months after it hits the streets. I thought Journeys were just Caravans (which are already bland-tastic enough) The Journey would've looked great... In the 90s.
  12. I LOVE IT! I'd buy this over the Equinox anyday. And, the Honda Pilot seems to sell well (which is what it reminds me of the most) so whatever... I see a lot of Jeep in it and A LOT of Terra... I loved the Terra concepts, especially the Terradyne. (Finally, 10 years later, GM is delivering a somewhat cohesive and different from Chevy design language for the division) Me thinks this might be a small precursor to GMC maybe trying to fill the niche that Hummer will leave. It's certainly more Hummer-esque in style.
  13. Of course not... because he, and the rest of his mindset, isn't threatened by what Buick represents, only what Pontiac represents.
  14. I'm using it in a Sociological sense... Localite means a member of a community, but it is also a mindset (and one that is quickly fading) The localite mindset consists of caring about your community more than the world or global community in general. It is/was very common in small towns and had it's own merits and importance, despite what most say. (I think america will learn th hard way that the persecution of it's localite mindset is a very bad idea. This is all in comparison to cosmopolitan, which is a global mindset and tends to dominate very urban places.
  15. Once again... Fundamentalist Christians predict a global government from which the anti-Christ will arise with the approval of the people. The anti-Christ will then control everyone via finances.
  16. What scares the hell out of me is that he was so close to being hit by the train... It's like the fact that he was on a train track didn't even occur to him. Luckily, he got out just in time.
  17. Meh... They've said exactly the opposite since then. Not to mention, "last Zeta" in that article means introductions.
  18. I agree... But at the same time, Pontiac has the name recognition and clout that Buick does not have. That's what worries me about the whole thing. Pontiac, fleet or not, is volume. Buick, I fear, will never see volume again. (Unless someone who knows how to market the divisions properly picks it up post chapter 7 liquidation)
  19. Vibe GT, hands down... I think it looks good and could look even better with a few mods. Not to mention, it's more practical and since I've owned the Focus ZX3 I've had a sort of fetish for small, aggressive looking wagon thingys. Honestly though, I would probably buy an HHR SS over anything right now if I were in the market for something small.
  20. But according to those people no one wants a "redneck, cladded, muscle car, performance, bloated, tacky, anti-environment. PONY-YAC." It's simple classism... Pontiac (and Chevrolet until more recently) has always been a blue collar brand and possessed a lot of those traits. The "educated" people hate every aspect of the blue collar lifestyle. (especially the patriotism and localite parts) So they deem it 'uncool' and it dies. GM as a whole is experiencing the very same thing (albeit to a lesser degree)
  21. Now, now... Enough of that common sense... KILL, KILL, KILL!!!!
  22. Lets take a future perspective on this, shall we? Good! Will either be discontinued or forced to rot on the ancient W-Body. Dead... Remember, Pontiac wasn't any better than Saturn and it apparently isn't any better than Buick either... It makes no sense, but hey, Pontiac has ALWAYS been the black sheep at GM. Dead... Hopefully the Cruze can pick up the slack... You know, with less marketing, half of the trim levels and half of the body styles. Excellent! Hopefully the wagon and coupe can only add to the numbers. Dead... Remember; the american public doesn't want big, RWD cars or Pontiacs with "EXCITEMNET!!!!!!!!!!11111" Dead... It's just a piece-o-$h! Toyota clone, remember? Dead... Both in name and concept... GM, with no money to market anything will NOT only attempt to refocus the brand AWAY from the target demographic of this car. But also, they will attempt to lure Lucerne buyers into the newer, bigger Lacrosse which shares the same name with the smaller, cheaper, less capable car that everyone hates. SMART! Gamma II can't get here fast enough. We MUST kill Saturn though!!!!! AND THE G6!!!! *** This confirms, to me, more than anything that GM is circling the drain. The 'volume' models they currently have are so effed up and nondescript in the eyes of the public that I'm sure the next round of name/brand/purpose/audience changes will definitely kill the company. (especially when the media does all they can to belittle the product, just as they did in 2005 with the first round of "new" product)
  23. ORLY?! I seem to remember GM stating that the fate of the G8 would be directly tied in to the fate of the Commodore... So, umm... Yeah.
