  1. An excellent and accurate piece.
  2. Number 4
  3. This is why Pontiac needs equally sexy and more capable coupe and sedan versions of Kappa. B) Oh and BTW, while 8 out of 10 is good. Just think, that's the same rating the new DTS got. The DTS is impressive, but not nearly as damn impressive as the Solstice. Sounds like bias to me..... GM "cannot be as good as the asians" As for the Prius, well that's pretty much BS just like everything else pertaining to the Prius. To bad we can't line a bunch of them up and run over them with H2's. <----TheFOG's idea of fun http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif
  4. That's a very good question. One I wish I had the answer for.
  5. Geez.... 4.2 seconds... Either they must not be able to drive very good or this must be a BRAND new Z06 that hasn't had a break in period. AKA: The Z06, written off by another magazine. (Told ya so)
  6. Looks like GM caved... Not cool.
  7. I'll second the chrome bar, I thought it was classy if done right.
  8. I agree. I use my cell phone a lot though because my GF lives in a different town most of the time.
  9. You can honestly say that with a straight face? GM has MANY more desirable vehicles than Toyonda. P.S. Oh and if you're UAW then you're obligated to buy UAW produced vehicles or otherwise don't bitch when you job gets outsourced or terminated
  10. Jeez Louise man... When are our worthless government and "do gooder" scared of everything parents in this country just going to fess up to the fact that our driver's ed system SUCKS!!!!!!!! instead of imposing impossible to enforce bans and countless LAME restrictions of freedom on our POOR teen drivers. Do these idiots actually think ANYONE drives at 100% while using a cell phone? Do they think that just because they're OLDER they're a better driver while talking on a cell phone, or they can handle their SUV better or that they can drive better with more than 1 person in the car?!?!?!?!? Especially when we factor in LOSS of motor skills and slower reaction times with age?!?!?!?!?!?! Gimme a friggin' break. Do you want your teen to drive better????!!!!! Do you want your teen not to DIE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF HIS/HER CAR??!?!?!?!?!?!? Then DO something about it you bunch of lazy "do gooders" IMPROVE THE TEACHING METHODS!!!!!! Teach the children HOW to drive defensively and how to react in tense situations and HOW to avoid others without killing themselves. Teach them HOW to handle this 1 ton 300 horsepower weapon they're about to be unleashed with! Don't complicate their lives with undue stress and STUPID restrictions that sap the fun out of everything. Hell, before long teens WON'T be able to drive in this country. And guess what... Car related fatalities will STILL be about the same. All your work will have been for NOTHING because an inexperienced driver is just that INEXPERIENCED, reGARDless of how old they are or how many DUMB laws they have to (or have to act like they) obey
  11. Definately manual transmission. All of the others are just different flavors of performance.
  12. Another very good argument that has me second guessing some of my logic.
  13. That is a good point and something I had not considered. I doubt it, they've probably all been brainwashed into "superior automobiles" or either ridiculed for being an "ignorant domestic driver"
  14. Buy GM or don't park in a GM parking lot.... It's as simple as that. Loyalty aside (Which is why I would buy GM) These people are pulling a paycheck from General Motors. They should invest in their job security, ESPECIALLY if they are a part of the UAW and it's naive standards that it holds GM to, which are killing the company. The LEAST a UAW-GM worker could do is buy GM. Working at GM and driving something different could be considered hypocritical by some (like me) just as driving an import and sticking an American flag on it is considered hypocritical by some (like me) It isn't an uncommon practice to force employees to buy their company's product (As they should feel obligated to do) Budweiser does it... (At one time you couldn't even smoke Marlboro cigarettes when at Budweiser because RJ Reynolds, Marlboros parent company, had a stake in Miller Brewing) All the major super market chains do it, Beverage companies do it (RC, who is actually cadberry, Pepsi, Coke) Hell, even the fast food joint I work at as my second job does it. We can't be on the premises with any other fast food. I would be hard pressed not to confront this guy in a very angry manner. At the very least I would make smart ass comments at him and dare him to say something back. I don't think I would vandalize his ride, but then again if things keep getting dirty between the PR wars and GM keeps losing I might have a change of heart. I'm NOT suggesting or condoning this behavior in any way, I'm just saying how I feel and we all know I'm not all peace, love and happiness and I'm not a saint either (Or at least everyone who has been here for a while knows) EDIT: Before all the flames start flying: I'm just being honest folks, this is my opinion and no one has to believe it or like it but me..... and I love it.
  15. It's not a recall yet.
  16. Not a bad write up at all, especially for what is basically a hot rodded 10 year old chasis. I can't wait to see the GXP on the streets. I hope GM starts marketing the hell out of the GP again. I think GM has really hit on something with these cars; the W-bodies and to a bigger extent the V8 W-bodies. If they can be this appealing and offer this wide of a range of elements that no other manufacturer can match, especially the stalwart asians then imagine what GM could do with a completely new architecture.
  17. I'd love to but I don't know how. (Or at least how to contact someone that actually cares and won't just give me lip service) The dealership used to be such a good one always stocked, nicely kept with a lot of nice people that I knew. Now, only 3 people out of the whole dealership are retained employees from the buyout, the inventory is so low that I can often count it on both hands or at the very most 2 sets of hands and most of the lot is used cars. They have NEVER (that I know of) received a Cobalt SS Supercharged, no regular SS as of yet and maybe 1 LT the entire time he's owned the dealership. Still no 2006 Impalas, the 1 2006 Malibu Maxx (Which was 1 of 2 Malibus on the lot--the other being an '05 sedan) no HHRs, no Uplanders, maybe an occasional Corvette, like 1 2006 Silverado, 1 Avalanche, no 2006 Trailblazers, 1 Equinox... It's pathetic... The place has just wasted away. He has these fire sale tent events for the used cars in front of the Ford dealership right next door (Which was part of the deal--owned by the same family) every weekend and when he does he locks the doors to the Chevrolet dealership and hangs a sign up to go see a dealer at the Ford lot (Which at first was in good shape but is now also starting to wither). One of my contacts said that when the new owner bought the place he only wanted the Ford dealership anyway and was pretty much forced to buy the Chevrolet dealership to get the Ford dealership. That same contact also said that a GM corporate person had drove up one day when the doors were locked and caused the owner A LOT of trouble and threatened to take the franchise away. But seriously, GM needs to come and look at this place. And to beat all it's an upscale town and these are the only 2 dealerships in the area, the next closest dealer of any kind is probably close to 10 miles away. P.S. Wow, even the LT's get those ugly indentions in the nose instead of foglights? And I really don't ike those wheels. But, if the ugly spattered front faces of the Accord and Camry will sell then so will this. WOW!, I had forgotten how pleasant the interior of the Malibu was when it isn't PR photographed in GM gray.
  18. Maybe they could even do an AWD version to rope in a few lost SUV sales. I like the idea of a modern day Bel Air, the name has positives connotations. But they better do it right if they do it.
  19. I agree 100% I love the nose on the new 9-5, I also am a big fan of the 9-2X and the 9-X/9-3X concepts.
  20. GM needs to up it's frikkin' capacity or find a second plant. Why not sell all you can?
  21. God I wish I could afford one of these..... This is truly the MIRACLE car GM needed and the historical comeback car we'll be talking about for years to come.
  22. DAMN!!!!!!!! That looks SWEET!!!! I LOVE those wheels!!! And just as I had writtn the GP off.... Too bad the media didn't give it a fair shake and GM didn't go far enough when it introduced the new version in 2004 As nice as all this is and as competent as the car really is, I fear it might be too little too late. GM should REALLY promote this line though!
  23. Actually, the original STS V8 write up was a very good write up. It was the comparison test, as always with promising GM/Ford vehicles where they say; "PSYCH, you suck because you're domestic" and put them down around 7th or 8th.
  24. Well, since my closest Chevy dealer has been bought out by a new owner and he doesn't care for it (even locks the doors at random times--I wish GM would jerk the franchise out from under him) our lot has only had 1 (Imagine that; No 2006 Impalas or HHRs, No Cobalt LT's, SS or SS Superchargeds, 1 2006 Silverado and the new Mailbu Maxx. The Maxx looked okay... It was a base model, I didn't care for the wheels or the indentions in the front bumper cover where the foglights go on the upper models. I did however like the placement of the GM emblem and the new chrome accented side molding. Overall it looked good for basic transportation, but not something I'd buy. Does look like an Impala from a distance though. I've also seen 1 sedan on the road, it was a white base model and stood out nicely.
  25. Because they KNOW they have it made. They could NEVER find a "fat 'n happy" free ride like this anywhere else.
