  1. Yessir... It's about an hour from my parents house. The Saluda grade has been closed for several years now. I've been meaning to walk it one day but never have. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saluda_grade Another interesting tidbit: http://www.polkcounty.org/saludagrade/trains/Article.html We used to go see it (when I was a kid) when we would go to "The Junction" in Landrum for Sunday Lunch.
  2. From what I gather, Magna just wants to profit from this, maybe? Why else would GM keep Ople/Vauxhall integrated into their product plans unless Magna just wants $$$?
  3. In regards to "Gary" it sounds like he is going to get screwed... (Might've been a bad choice of words) I've always thought the "cry rape" laws were a crock of $h!. But then, I can't really come up with a better solution and I can't imagine how horrible it would be to be raped, so I guess they're as good as we as a society can do. That's always an interesting discussion... Here in NC, if I'm not mistaken, once said female is over the legal limit (doesn't matter who bought her the drinks, as you mentioned) it can technically be considered rape, consensual or not simply because said female is in an altered state of mind. With that in mind, TECHNICALLY even a wife could charge her husband with rape with not much effort or sweat. Is it right? I dunno... Just glad I don't have the burden of having to decide.
  4. Thank you american public! (from the bottom of my heart) See what buying Toyotas without even looking at domestics will get you? That's right, we'll enslave YOUR KIDS and destroy their future financial health. (This is not an anti-Detroit post, I'm being extremely serious.... I love it!)
  5. And the anti-Pontiac bitchfest continues... Anyway. I've always found the G6 coupe to be very handsome. Too bad the sedan and convertible were so dull. Oh, and of course the Malibu & Aura are better cars, they're fresher.
  6. NICE! I adore old Linkin Park. Most of their new stuff is too soft and pop for me though. Chester is amazing. He's one of the only people that can scream and actually sound bad ass. Most 'screamers' sound either stupid or cliche. (This is of course in opposition to the more appealing 'yellers and growlers') Hybrid Theory FTW!
  7. nah... New American Gospel is a bad representation. And Redneck was on Sacrement which was a good album but indeed very mainstream. Their best work (what hooked me) was/is As The Palaces Burn (their 2nd release) and Ashes Of The Wake (3rd release) absolutely some of the best stuff I've ever heard. Randy Blythe is an amazing songwriter and his voice is one of the best I've heard. Keep in mind that I love very distorted and raw vocals. (Hell I even liked the vocal quality on Demo Magnetic better than Death Magnetic) Stylistically, LOG reminds me a lot of Pantera.
  8. "rainch" as we say it in the south. LOL. I also eat Italian and, if I'm feeling frisky, French.
  9. I'll certainly bite on this topic when I'm not posting from my iPhone. It's too much to type the whole thing on here. I've been listening to a lot of thrash and metalcore lately. Some Cash and bluegrass and this one techno CD that I am obsessed with. As far as metal goes; I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think this generations MetallicA (if there is such a thing at all) is Lamb Of God. I think they've 'got the gift' to be metals next major ambassadors.
  10. My friend... Once you go Apple, you'll never go back. I defected a few years ago and don't regret it a bit.
  11. The long awaited ad: http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=41337
  12. One of the computers I post on. Holy cow!
  13. Shelby KR or Jeep Willys for the win... (I'd also take the GN)
  14. Dr. Pepper (Oh, and I can't think of anyone who wears depends when they get out of bed..... )
  15. Not bad... I would've preferred better shots of the cars. But over all, it's a good start. Now for those Buick commercials....
  16. Now all he needs is a giant wing on the back "for better gas mileage"
  17. This... As for your car... If it's through the paint, then I'd recommend a touch up. (No need to spend $500+ on getting the clip repainted and the fenders/hood blended) If it's not through the paint, then any good polish will work wonders. (The Adams stuff looks very impressive!)
  18. LOL. That must make me really two-faced then, because I'm usually bumming wireless on our MacBook Pro or my iPhone. (My GF has an iPhone too, we're an Apple family) I gave my GF so much hell about getting an iPhone because I hate how trendy and "holier than thou" Apple culture has become (even though I like the MacBook Pro a lot) But then I started using it and became addicted. I almost hate how trendy it is, but it's so damn cool and does so many awesome tricks that I can't put it down. Now I can rant at you guys from ANYWHERE, LOL. But see, that mentality you touched on (not held by everyone, I know) is exactly what I'm talking about. All those Mac loving, Prius driving, designer wearing, soft rock/trendy music listening people that don't accept others simply because they CHOSE to be different or live their life differently. It's the sort of thing I rebel against with passion because I consider it the epitome of sheep mentality. And it's INCREDIBLY BORING, if nothing else. "Eww, he's a CON-servative?!?! eww..." "Eww, you drive a domestic?!?!" "Eww, you like heavy metal?!? What, do you worship satan?" "Eww, you're not wearing D&G glasses?" It's called FEAR. And I guess I'm so sensitive to it because I've had this FEAR shoved down my throat for the last 4 years by all of my GFs architecture friends. They don't like me personally because I'm different from them. (Okay, okay... You guys know me, I enjoy screwing with them as much as I can) And GOD FORBID an ARTS based architecture school teach ANYONE to be an individual and do their own thing, it's all about what the instructors think and "how you should act as an architect"
  19. Yeah.. right... I know a lot of "race team crew members" here in Charlotte that don't even know what a torque wrench is. Racing is as much a business now as anything. THERE'S the problem... Not only is he a ricer (and potential fan of Japan Inc.) he's also a Porsche snob. LOL... Actually, I'm a loft dweller. FOG has prejudices against everyone.... Even though my comments were meant as a joke, I'll take the bait and make a few more friends. FWIW, I just don't like hypocrites. And 99% of the people that fit the stereotype I posted are the biggest hypocrites in america. "Do as I say, not as I do." In my opinion, the "coffee shop culture" is symbolic of the disgrace that america has become (which is why I hate it). EXHIBIT A: Instead of waking up at home, INDEPENDENTLY making his own coffee and enjoying the success. The typical coffee shop dweller gets up, exports the work (drives) to another location. Once at that location, he pays FAR TOO MUCH for another entity to prep the same (imported) hot water and same (imported) beans that he could've made himself. Then he hangs around and feels a 'metropolitan' sense of community with all of the other hypocrites and pretenders. In fact, the coffee shop itself is a metaphor for what america has become. A place where it looks like a lot is happening and people are being very productive. However, at the core of it all, the place/people are merely servicing imported goods that have little value or impact on life in general. And all the fuss is about nothing, because it only serves to hide what is truly happening. A GIANT RIP OFF AND WASTE OF TIME. But I do enjoy the smoothies at Ritazza... In that case... I take everything I said back. He seems like a cool dude! LMAO....
  20. Being a Pontiac man... This is CERTAINLY a Buick that would have me back in the showroom. Problem is; this will NEVER make it to the states. 1) GM could never make enough on it to justify the price and 2) GM could never make enough on a small Buick to justify the price.
  21. Meh... He pretty much slams every car on there. Probably just an urban yuppie piece of sh*t that doesn't even own a car and wrote this in a coffee shop next to his "loft"
  22. Thats AWESOME! I had no idea he was even looking. I did notice the sweet 2nd gen on the commercials. Too bad my Camaros are 2 hours away at my home. Papa Johns has always been my favorite major chain and this just serves to build my loyalty.
  23. Excellent write up... I've been cruising the dealerships and still haven't seen one of these or an SRX. (Seems like they'd be out by now?) I mean, I don't expect the Terrains or CTS-W to be out yet. Ford already has the Taurus on lots.
  24. I'll post the info later. A friend of mine is looking to shed his new Audi. It's a gorgeous car!
  25. Agreed on the HR issues. If I were reg, I wouldve been highly pissed as well. I'm a bit annoyed at this whole concept today. I've been looking for work for 6 months now, had a promising lead, and was subsequently profiled out of the job because the firm apparently thinks that selling is an innate trait as opposed to something that can be learned. ... Sigh ...
