  1. GREAT REVIEW!!! Maybe things are changing at GM! caddycruiser, please HURRY UP!!! GM needs you! :AH-HA_wink:
  2. Maybe GM could take a page from Nissans book on this issue... Offer a maintream SUV like the Pathfinder (Although I know it's still BOF) then offer through either GMC or Chevy an Xterra type vehicle for the guys that just have to have an affordable (Which leaves Hummer out) BOF SUV.
  3. That's a very nice break down!
  4. Meant as sarcasm? Certainly not impressive when the new Camry is within 10 hp...
  5. Yes, but they're still selling almost 350,000 of these things a year. To abandon ship entirely, or let your products rot and lose your foot hold in the segment would be dumb IMO.
  6. So basically GM made the same FUNDAMENTAL design mistake that they made on the U-Bodies.... How about a little bit of COMMON SENSE in Detroit?
  7. I agree 100%!! The devil is in the details, ESPECIALLY on a relatively subdued design like the G6.
  8. GOSPEL!!! Another excellent post, I agree 100%
  9. This made my local news as well. Good story, LOTS of good exposure and shots of the 500 and especially Malibu, although they didn't mention the Saab-GM connection. GM (and Ford for that matter) needs to promote this! It's a great accomplishment!
  10. IMO, the current SS vehicles are very strong and very nice vehicles. But, should they be SS? No. (With some exceptions) In my opinion, a lot of what are Chevrolet SS features should be standard on Chevrolets and I think that would "go the extra mile" in curing GM's image problem.
  11. The 360's are one of FEW modern GM success stories... Think about the presence of the Jimmy, Bravada and Blazer compared to the monumental strides made by the TB, Envoy & Rainier.
  12. I agree to an extent... I'm just tired oof seeing GM constantly re-trench and I DO NOT want to see them completely kill the GMT360s. They need to try and maintain as much of the market as they can. The difference I sense here (and based on earlier discussions) is that GM is ASSUMING that GMT360 demand will falter and is pinching the lifeline on the trucks, instead of letting the market slowly determine. GM has always been much too hasty to abandon segments or niches based on their assumptions only to see competitors gain ground. I'm probably way off base though (hopefully) Thank you very much AH-HA! My sentiments exactly... Same mistakes, different decade.
  13. LOL, The O.C. and the press seem to run hand in hand. <_< GM should hire him as a consultant! Oh, and BTW: :Toyota:
  14. It reminds me of the MazdaSpeed 6 here. Interior looks nice though. The BEST kept secret in the entire industry there..... My Camry rental WAS NOT at all impressive interior-wise.
  15. Mazda-ish, except with a touch of ugly thrown in.... Is this 'T-face' because I was beginning to warm up to the Avalon, but I certainly don't like this. Kinda reminds me of that Opel concept from a few years back as well, you know, the one that was supposedly based on Zeta.
  16. LOL, because then you'd be a loser because you drove an inferior domestic!
  17. LOL, imagine that.... A joke about AMERICAN reliability from a BRITISH source....LMAO and to top it off, it comes on the eve of European marques proving to overall ONCE AGAIN be the least reliable cars on earth. (Consumer Reports/J.D. Power anyone?) Well, these first lines pretty much destroy what little credibility (If any--it is theUK after all) the author had. And what makes me sick: at the bottom of the article is a link praising the new Lexus IS. So, these idiot brits won't give an American car a fair review, but LIKE AMERICANS they'll surely let their once enemy, Japanese friends come in on a free ride and destroy their workers jobs?
  18. I'll second that.. I wanted to do it as my senior trip in high school, just a road trip with a bunch of friends, but didn't have the $$$.
  19. I think this is bad news... The GMT360's still sell well and they have established a name for themselves, not to count GM doesn't seem to have anything in the pipeline to replace the TB at Chevy. Yet another once successful GM offering that will wither on the vine and secede market share just because GM doesn't seem to *think* it's a worthwhile investment. I'm sure Toyota will appreciate the increased 4Runner sales as will Honda with the increased Pilot sales, however SMALL they may be. I'm just tired of hearing about GM "giving up" all the time... I thought we we're going to try and hold our ground in the truck market, yet as usual, GM introduces a rare successful pack of vehicles and then abandons them while competitors gain ground with newer offerings and GM gets yet another bad name in another segment for poor, outdated offerings. Same story, different day GMT360 needed to be redesigned or updated last year, and GM continues to be one of it's own worst enemies. I'll stop rambling there....
  20. Toyota HAS the money bankrolled and that's all that matters... GM has been (or will have been in a few years) milked dry. As far as GM being the biggest.... Well, I can't say that I've seen much of a difference here between GM and Toyota or Honda commercials... In fact, Toyota commercials seem to out pace GM commercials. Now that's looking on a purely bulk basis and I guess is flawed since GM seems to buy into the bigger promotional deals such as Super Bowl and the Emmy's Still, I think they're wasting their money and a WHOLE lot of fat could be cut in this area. For every 3 sh*tty ads they generate, Toyota has one good ad it seems. Some of the new Ford stuff looks REALLY good, but again not much presence IMO. Sad to see these numbers and then look at the state in which these companies are in and it displays the effect of outside factors.
  21. I think it was a pretty good review, especially considering the source. That said, it's also pretty obvious that he's still anti-GM judging by the stupid attempt at sarcasm and the OBVIOUS misquote of Solstice SS to confuse the consumer. (And this rhetoric is why I had a problem with him right off the bat) What exactly does this mean? If he's trying to imply that the Corvette isn't a classic then he's about as dumb as they come. Even die hard import owners covet Corvettes. P.S. I'm sure LA Times is reading this too :AH-HA_wink:
  22. I think GM should devote an entire team to fixing ALL of the Epsilon cars problems because each and every one of them has issues. The 9-3 is about 90% there, the G6 about 85% and the Malibu about 60%. Of course, it would depend on how soon Ep II came on line and how much $$ GM wanted to spend. In my opinion it's a VITAL part of the market in which GM should have some of it's best offerings and thus, the cars should be fixed.... But anyway, sorry for rambling.
  23. I dunno.... It seems too logical to align the Z/28 as the top car (Right Chazman :AH-HA_wink:) along with the Z06 AND it's original intentions as a race ready Camaro. This is especially true with the watering down of SS. So, I'd like to propose a relatively simple THEORY. What if the Camaro launch and proposal is like the Cobalt. As in, the base model and top performance model (Camaro and Z/28) are shown first and promoted first to be followed by a more affordable mid range performance version (SS) Remember, the Cobalt and SS Supercharged were intro-ed first and produced first then followed by the mid range SS a year later.
  24. EXCELLENT!! Why haven't we seen this anywhere else? Yep.... Wonder why we haven't heard anything (READ: Recants) about this?
  25. Nice to see this FINALLY factored in on one of these articles. Surely Subaru is not just going to stand idly by and let Toyota have their way by decreasing Subaru production? FOG predicted headline: "Toyota pulls in enough profit in one year to BUY General Motors!" LOOK AT ALL THOSE JOBS BEING CREATED!!! Nah, we don't need GM to employ people... That's because it wasn't.... As usual, it was self serving greed and was meant as a carefully calculated insult both via the BAD PR mess it caused and the principle of the "we're better than you" rhetoric that the asian companies share and the media promotes. Anyone else noticed that the Toyota PR department seems to "slip up" at the most APPROPRIATE times... I mean, out of every piece of CAREFULLY honed news they've released in the past 5-6 years I can only remember 2 "screw ups" and they both seemed to involve kicking the American companies in the teeth and reminding us of how much better Japan Inc is. And how opportune that the media not let EITHER die until at least a YEAR afterward. SCREW UP #1: "We're bigger than Ford now!" Ooopsss, we're Toyota, we were just using that "DISTINCTLY" beneficial way we calculate sales, and uh, actually *quietly* we're not as big as we thought. SCREW UP #2 "We're so much better than the American companies that we've decided to feel sympathy and help them out by FIXING the price of the market" Oh wait, did we say that?!?!?! Actually, we were just raising prices because we're COPYING THE DOMESTICS by loading our cars with more standard features. *quietly* of course. Seems awful funny to me....
