Thre words: GM has "TOO MUCH OVERHEAD" So what in the hell do these people suggest GM do?!?!?!? Any suggestions?!?!?! No, that's what I thought, just detremental CRITICISM. VERY GOOD POINT dsuupr.... This is nothing more than more GM smear propaganda from the street... They got the whiff that GM sales might be up for February, so they put this 'study' out to try and kill the momentum... It's simple. And trust me, you'll see A LOT more of this if GM reports positive sales for February. Nice that they started out by dumping all over the GTO (Told you the media would) LOL...Ummm. Okay. First of all DELAYED Zeta was supposed to replace the car. Secondly, anyone who knew anything about the current car KNEW that it would go on hiatus when Holden made the switch. Okay, so the street bitches because GM has overcapacity problems, then the street bitches when GM closes plants too?!?! Same story, different day... GM is damned either way and THAT is a perfect, wrapped in a red bow, example of MEDIA/ANALYST BIAS. GM needs to kill 2 divisions... NO, NO, NO, wait!!!! GM needs to develop MORE product!!!! PICK A SIDE!!!! At least then you'll SEEM credible. And this matters.... WHY? As long as the product is good, then what's the problem????? I don't see 100 articles on how Toyota is introducing a fullsize truck 50 years later than GM in that segment. So THAT'S what this report is about: RECYCLED GARBAGE. (For those of you who remember, ML also put out a report like this last year stating that ALL of the big 3 had this problem.) Wow!!! A statement of subjective GARBAGE passed off as fact, what a surprise...
-
LOL.... And here we go again... The media/analysts are FENCING OFF the imports and trying to get the big 3 to cannabalize each other. This must be the newest fad, as it is happening in articles, comparisons, and general reference. LOL, GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! It's like a days work!!! ***Looks like GM is doing this for purely competitive reasons, which is a good thing. And the incentives are small, another good thing. I don't like it though.. Maybe, just maybe GM is doing this as a REACTION to Ford and Chrysler raising incentives.
-
WOW...This is lame. No offense man, but this has a lot of subjective aspects to it. And what's worse is that cars aren't even the majority of automotive sales in America anymore. Yet still, we're subjected to this... A *FIXED* measure of Toyota's success in comparison to GM and Ford and a tongue lashing about how Toyota is so much better. GM and Ford are perfectly right and justified to advertise the best seller titles and I don't even need to justify it's benefits with an explanation, meanwhile, the worthless press luckily isn't smart enough to be able to stack the deck like this to 'make' news. What is Toyota affraid of???/ There will be no backlash. They along with their worshippers in the press have helped to turn 30-50% of americans AGAINST Detroit. Where's the backlash in that?????? Furthermore, I'd like to see a source of where these numbers came from. Somehow I find it hard to believe that Toyota, especially the brand alone, gained 116,000 sales in one year, especially when they had NO significant introduction, and phased out models. Chevrolet has been GAINING ground, not losing ground. Albeit that might be on the truck side, but it's highly doubtful given the fuel crisis and it's impact on sales as well as the growth of new models such as Cobalt, Aveo and HHR to mention a few.
-
That's laughable. I'll wait to see the article before I comment. To see if they actually gave it a good review or begrudgingly 'passed' it.
-
That's a sweet car man! I've always loved the Riviera's, they have so much personality. Really classy with a lot of sport thrown in.
-
**GASP!** You're selling the Camaro?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Dude, you can't! It'll be okay. It just takes time, that's all
-
I think that is a VERY good point.
-
Since the media is making the big PUSH to increase it's sales. ***Positive mention here, positive mention there, hide the production cuts, give it a couple of awards...PLANT the seed*** The Lucerne is an AWESOME car, no matter WHAT you're told. If I were in the market for a sedan, Lucerne is probably the one I would buy from GM.
-
See what happens when you actually ADVERTISE GM?!?!?!? GREAT NEWS!!!! Dan Neil---who?!?!?!? Does this mean either 1) Dan Neil is an idiot nd has no basis in fact, since each of the domestic cars he has chosen to 'dump on' have ALL sold well (500/Montego, HHR, G6) or 2) He just randomly chooses STRONG entires from Detroit based carmakers to pick on so that he can slow their momentum... BOTH, I think, which equates Dan Neil to an IGNORANT, BIASED FOOL. LOL... Still that same pessimistic, defeatist attitude coming from the ALL KNOWING 'analysts' Of course, I'm sure it isn't easy when you're SUPPOSED to know what you're talking about, yet are forced to eat crow. I know there isn't any way to tell whether or not the GMT900s will keep their momentum at this point, but still CREDIT is DUE to GM. Especially when the 'analysts' for whatever reason told them to do the polar opposite and in retrospect it looks as if that wasn't wise or intelligent advice... Maybe, just maybe there were ALTERNATIVE motives at play in the 'analysts' minds. I calls 'em like I sees 'em. Sales of the redesigned Explorer also suffered because 1) it wasn't different enough, 2) The media had already successfully ruined the Explorers image, 3) Because of YET ANOTHER pleathora of BAD reviews and 4) Because buyers shopping for an Explorer sized vehicle usually aren't in the same income bracket as Tahoe buyers, hence why the gas prices weigh more on their decisions. OF COURSE!!!!! hell, after that GIGANTIC media slurping, Honda BETTER have sales increases. And just to think, all this past year Honda had been LOSING ground... Coincidence? Hell no. That sucks.... Hopefully Chrysler isn't losing steam. But if they are, I'm sure all the new small utes they have coming will help. I thought Ford would do well, especially on the back of the success of the Fusion/Milan/MKZ. ***Hopefully, the buyers base for the big three hasn't been NARROWED (By the media) so much tht they are only cannabalizing each others sales now.*** Oh, okay... (Guess I should've read ahead a bit) Chrysler doesn't worry me, they have a WHOLE lot of new stuff coming. Ford on the other hand, worries me. The damage has been done there--the job is done; hence why the negativity is NOW focused at GM Not good. Probably.... Remember; nobody buys domestic anymore... That's so un-cool... Oh wow! We're back down to sub-20 now... I guess all those negative editorials from January took hold. (You know, the one's I TOLD you all would surface after the positive sales performance--SEE: Janury sales thread) Not a surprise, the press all but finished them off a year or two back.

I've wanted to put those 17's on for years and finally got the money last summer. I got the idea from the Hotchkis F-71 Camaro. A '71 Camaro Hotchkis built, equipped with the same wheels (except wider) and a WHOLE bunch of other goodies including their suspension set up (Hotchkis is a suspension company, for those who don't know) My next mod will be the suspension package that lowers the car 2" in front and 1" in the rear.

First of all... Fihian: that's priceless! Secondly, 68: I love that avatar! Third, Petra: I know you were my friend earlier, but I had to bomb the account when some software messed it up and had to start anew with friends, hence the new request. And last but not least; I sent friend requests to all of you who I think like me and to the others, if you want to be my friend then that's great. (I just know that I annoy a lot of people here, so I figured I'd play it safe )

Thanks guys. They still need some work, trust me... But so far, this is the fruit of my labor. All those hard days working 2 jobs; and it's such a slow process. I've had the '73 for going on 8 years now and I've had the '68 for going on 6 years now. Just this past year I was finally able to work myself into a decent daily driver. The green Focus was my first 'driver' that didn't cost under $1000, oh some of the JUNK I've driven in order to send the money toward these cars... LOL, anyway, It's taken a lot of sacrifice (some intentional, some that I regret in certain ways)

I posted this in my thread in the lounge but thought I would post it here to since I've been meaning to for a while anyway... The album includes a few good pictures of my '68 Camaro SS and my '73 Camaro Z28/RS. It also includes a picture of my daily driver; the Focus ZX3 before it got smashed and as a bonus, the pictures of the infamous camry rental from a year ago. Not pictured: Our 1999 Silverado Z71, our 2001 F-150 and our 1982 Toyota Starlet (beater) http://uncc.facebook.com/album.php?aid=201...5ee&id=36614241

It's a sad, sad day...
-
This needs to be exploited and MARKETED to it's fullest!!!! Too bad the media NEVER reported on this... You know it'd be all over the front of Forbes & Co. if it were Toyota. Maybe GM should RETAIN the Ion name with the Astra... (On it) Or maybe, hopefully not, the new Saturn direction will alienate these buyers (No appliance-like, plastic cars) ***THis reminds me of the Aztek... Awesome execution (ideas) BAD wrapper. Or maybe it's just the media bias...
-
I agree... And I think it's intentional... I think GM sometimes intentionally spreads false news to throw competitors and critics off. **It'd be cool if 2010 was actually the timeline for the Pontiac and Buick models and the Camaro/Impala were here MUCH sooner.***
-
I'd love to see a 69 inspired Impala companion I don't like that GM is committed to the 3.9L though... Imagine a nice mid level Impala with a HF engine and an AWESOME budget performance Camaro with a HF V6 in addition to the V8 versions. But alas, I guess the HV 3.9L would be fine AS LONG AS GM refines it more!!!!!!! As for the Buick and Pontiac versions... God, we need them NOW, if anything, even BEFORE the Chevrolet versions. And NO HV 3.9L in those PLEASE GM!!!!! Edmunds DOES pose an interesting question (assuming they're right, which I DON'T) Hopefully the Camaro won't be another GTO (styling-wise) or T-Bird; too little, too late.
-
WOW! Too bad Buick seems to have a brighter future in China than in the U.S. THAT car should've been HERE. I just don't understand why GM and Ford (especially) produce all of these GORGEOUS, IMAGE CHANGING cars for China and Europe yet can't seem to bring that same pizazz here to SAVE those very divisions. Sad.... The answer is, as usual, right in front of our CORPORATE noses.
-
GREAT.... Didn't GM say 2010 as well?!?!?! I bet GM will be beaten to market with THIS technology as well and they had SUCH promise...
-
The GTO was ALWAYS meant to halt production anyway around this time... I just hope the media doesn't make a big deal and call it a failure... Meh, who am I kidding, they'll try to nail Pontiac's coffin shut with this piece of news.
-
LOL... PERFECT.. Everyone bitches at me to no end about how "I think GM is a charity instead of a company" Yet, then I make comments like this and the rebuttle is that; in fact, Toyota is a charity HELPING GM because they are after all, perfect, saintly good hearted Toyota. Toyota is in it for TOYOTA and the KNOW what they've done/are doing to GM and Ford. As much as they try to put the icing on the cake, it's still blatantly obvious. BTW, this post wasn't directed at haypops, he/she is a very respectful poster. I'm just making a point in general.
-
Yeah, yeah.... We all know.... GM WILL die one way or another, everyone has made it PERFECTLY clear that SOMEONE (either the media, the street, the competition or the UAW) will pull the trigger. Right now, they're all just enjoying flipping the coin over it. Oh, to hell with that This is GM, not Honda..... So basically... Once GM gives in to the media war and bows it's head and backs down by reducing it's size and surrendering in the war to remain as the number one automaker in the world, they'll build a LIMITED number of good cars.... How stupid. GM isn't and never has been a novelty car maker. If I were GM management, I'd RUN THE COMPANY INTO THE GROUND before I'd GIVE UP and GIVE IN to this 'force' that has almost ousted the company.
-
Hmmm... If that's the case then it's funny the car sold so well in the most IMAGE concious city in America... LOS ANGELES. I think it's demise was based on a lot of things.... Piss poor marketing, a BIASED media that begs GM into situations only to milk money from them by BELITTLING them into failure (GTO...SSR...Aztek....etc.) The fact that the public HATES domestics, ESPECIALLY Pontiacs and the fact that it's styling wasn't all that exciting... I wouldn't have bought one and that's because of the styling... So, I guess, in essence I agree a lot with what both z28 and samuel said.

Has this guy been under a rock for 2 months?!?!?! See, this is the kind of FABRICATED, INNACCURATE that shouldn't be excused... This guy MADE the news and now, many unknowing americans will take it as gospel. ALL opinion, which shows his bias... and not ALL accurate. "Sharp designs" I haven't seen any... "Low price points" Yeah right! Declining and disappearing are two different things.... It's all about the margins folks... More GMT-900s at a higher selling price = a healthier GM, regardless of whether or not the market is "declining" so long as the bottom doesn't fall out. EVIL GM!!!! Trying to "bribe" people to buy their stock... Yep, and these are the people we trust to form our opinions for us and analyze and advise us on stocks. Yep, so Toyota can SAVE all those truck buyers too. Hence why the anti-Detroit drum beat hasn't let up.... Detroit can still come back.

Yes, I have. "What's the matter kid? Don't ya like clowns?!?!?" Personally, I liked House better because it is less of a slasher flick. Well, that and I'm a HUGE captain Spaulding fan.. LOL. The part on the DVD before the movie is ESPECIALLY funny!
