More proof that our culture demands CONFORMITY.

*sigh*..... I can only dream of what might've been had this become the new GTO. Think of how amazing a line up of Camaro, CTS-V coupe and GTO would've been.
-
Wow... That red one in front there is gorgeous. I think I remember reading that GM would only make roughly 1200 coupes. And that off the 1200, only 400 or so would be RPO Solsti. (As opposed to GXP) There is NO WAY that this WONT be a collectors item.

When GM had all its domestic brands, which was your favorite?
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to trinacriabob's topic in The Lounge
When GM had all of it's brands: 1) Pontiac 2) Chevrolet (A very close second) 3) Buick (A lot of it has to do with what Buick MADE and their amazing concepts) 4) Saturn -- new line up (could interchange with GMC, but gets the nod because I'm more of a car guy) 5) GMC (Love GMC, but I'm just not a truck enthusiast.) 6) Cadillac (Love it's history and the CTS and Escalade are hella nice, but aside from that caddy is highly overrated) 7) Oldsmobile (Not that Olds isn't cool. I dearly miss it. It just didn't appeal to me as much as the other classic stuff. And their is no really new stuff to compare with. NOW: 1) Chevrolet (Eventhough MOST of the new stuff is too bland for me) 2) Buick (Buick could pass Chevrolet if Chevy continues to forget about affordable performance and good design) 3) GMC (again, only this low because I'm a car guy. Could climb if they keep making stuff like the Terrain) 4) Cadillac (see above comments) -
Cars that people like that you can't stand...
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
Japanese "supercars" Japanese cars in general. 90's Chrysler "cab forward" stuff. Pretty much ANY vintage european car, especially the "cute" cars like Triumphs and MGs. a lot of 80s and early 90s GM stuff Hybrids V6 "muscle/pony" cars... Although I will admit that the new Camaro V6 is starting to change my opinion on that one. Just off the top of my head... -
Actually... When I was promoting the car show I did for Relay For Life this year, I spotted a beautiful GXP coupe in the wild. I quickly pulled the car over and stuck a flyer inside their car. (It was at a park and the windows were down) Not only did they participate in my show, they're now avid car show attendees in the area. Here's a picture that's in the gallery from my show: http://www.cruisincarolinamagazine.com/con...-nc-6-13-09-041

1) Corvette 2) Camaro.... Of course, I'd probably sell them both and get a Z06 or G8 GXP (Assuming that GM does what I figure they would do and gives me the base model of each car) Yes, I'm a snob, I know. I will take nothing less than a Z06 Corvette and nothing less than an SS Camaro.

I could do it... As long as it's local. And I do spend a fair amount of time driving, with the 2 hour (each way) commute from my apt in the city to the house in the mountains.

holy cow! I'm very envious. That's almost too much metal! Someday I'll have the money to go to Europe and see a festival. You guys certainly have better shows than us.

This was hands down the most amazing show I have ever been to. I've seen MetallicA 3 times now and this was by far their best appearance. I have NEVER before witnessed a band so tight as this one. Death Magnetic has really breathed new life into this establishment. Everything was amazing... From the intense laser show that kicks things off to the pyrotechnics, to the falling and rising GIANT coffins, to the beach balls at the end. James voice sounded phenomenal and he has once again mastered singing in a higher octave (like the old stuff) This show was double the pleasure for me because Lamb Of God (One of the openers) is my second favorite band behind MetallicA. Even though I did almost pass out from heat exhaustion... My dumb ass thought it would be a good idea, being already dehydrated from work, to not eat or drink anything all day to avoid having to make a 'pit stop' during the show so as not to lose my prized space on the fence. Could've pulled it off had I not already been dehydrated from working the night before. What an amazing night.. I'd pay the hundreds of dollars and stand in line 5 hours again tomorrow if I had the chance. Needless to say, we now have a MetallicA beach ball and 2 new picks on display at our APT. (I already had one pick from Summer Sanitarium 2003) Setlist: (Notes in paren) 1) That Was Just Your Life (The heartbeat starts right after The Ecstasy Of Gold concludes, then the whole stage is a giant laser and smoke show throughout the song -- see the pics) 2) The End Of The Line (Toward the end of this one, during the 'chops' you get your first glimpse at how tight this band really is... Unbelievable) 3) For Whom The Bell Tolls (Felt so good to here this song... Classic MetallicA attitude and angst) 4) The Four Horsemen (A pleasant surprise, this is usually where they break into Master Of Puppets or Creeping Death) 5) One 6) Broken, Beat & Scarred (dedicated to the fans -- probably the best 'performed' song of the new stuff. The riffs are so sharp and cutting. James really seems to enjoy performing this one) 7) Cyanide 8] Sad But True (dedicated to Gojira, the very good french death metal band that opened. Charlotte was their last date on the tour) 9) Turn The Page (Seger cover -- I was very excited to hear this. Nice to see a classic redone with such taste) 10) The Judas Kiss (One of my favs from the new $h!. Just as good live. This is where I started to pass out) 11) Kirk Solo #1 12) The Day That Never Comes 13) Master Of Puppets (Excellent as always) 14) Fight Fire With Fire (VERY, VERY excited to see this live! One of my absolute favorites!) 15) Kirk Solo #2 16) Nothing Else Matters 17) Enter Sandman 18) Encore Jam (The beginning to Frayed Ends Of Sanity -- Pretty cool and the crowd was really in to it. But alas, it was a Metallijoke as they announced the homage to Motorhead) 19) Too Late, Too Late (Motorhead cover -- Didn't think James could pull off vocal duties on this one too well, but he did an excellent job) 20) Phantom Lord (Dedicated to Ron McGovney who was in attendance -- I was super excited to see this performed live, given how rare of an experience that is) 21) Seek & Destroy (Had fun singing and hitting beach balls around the place) Interesting stats: * Only the second time that The Judas Kiss has been played in the USA * The first time Too Late, Too Late has been played in NC and only the 6th time MetallicA has played it live since debuting the track in 1995. * The first time Phantom Lord has been played in NC. * The first time in 11 years that Fight Fire With Fire has been played in NC PHOTOS: Courtesy of my lovely girlfriend MetallicA photos start about halfway down the page. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2240...mp;l=7f07903068

I entered the web 2.0 marketing contest and received notification that I have been chosen to receive passes for Nov 4-5. Too bad that I probably won't have the $$$ to fly out, pay for a bed and pay for 3 squares a day. I'd love to go, but we'll see. The GF is hellbent on making me take the $$$ and go.

Crazy question: Do you listen to your engine with the window down?
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to trinacriabob's topic in The Lounge
Absolutely. I never miss a chance to tach it up in the Camaros. Not so much in the Focus. I will start it up and open the hood and listen to it isle though. -
Agree 100%. is this the "landmark" decision that Fritz rushed through? Verano is almost as bad and cheap sounding as Viva. And Encore will constantly be confused with Enclave.

GM Confirms the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Is a Go
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Justin Bimmer's topic in General Motors
Sounds nice... But the T2 car BLOWS this car away in the looks department. -
AB-so-LUTELY!!! (But I'm an impulse guy, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me... )
-
NICE!!!
-
Which is VERY disappointing.

I agree and disagree. I like some of his ideas, but the execution is too over the top IMO. I love trick lighting (my apt is basically like a rave at night, but you can't tell in the day) and I'd like to do some trick lighting on the Camaros. I just haven't found a way to do it tastefully yet

I'd buy an older Jeep Cherokee. Those inline 6's are INDESTRUCTIBLE. We had one in our family as well as a Commanche and both were great vehicles. A friend has one that is at around 300,000 now.
