  1. A lot of our clients where I used to work were Chevy dealers (MY job was completely unrelated to the auto industry) One of the Chevy dealers wives comes in one day to deposit some money and LOW AND BEHOLD what is she driving??? A brand new Toyota 4Runner. Completely subjective... CR is NOTORIOUSLY unreliable on their "fuel economy remarks" Wasn't it last year that they had a big mid size truck comparison and panned the Dakota for 18 MPG while a competitor also registered 18 MPG and nothing was said? I highly doubt that... The reason none of those companies said anything was 2 fold. 1) NONE of them faced ANY media scrutiny (Everyone in the press was so out to SCREW the domestics that they all seemed to "miss" the fact that no Euros OR Koreans made the list---Of course, it didn't hurt that CR EMPHASIZED the NO domestic POLICY. It was like lighting the bombing range for the media) and 2) Because none of those are VOLUME companies and subsequently none of them are being KILLED by the 'precious asians.' The domestics are where the potential is to GROW asian sales and therefore the domestics are the golden cow that the media is going to milk. PERSONALLY, I think CR is a little SCARED now that they've seen some future Detroit iron and THAT'S why they implemented the NO DOMESTIC policy in the first place. A last ditch, give 'em all you got to keep 'em down effort. But, as I reported earlier, SINCE I read that press release I've notice EVEN more domestics on the roads and almost everyone (That isn't ignorant) I've talked too about the report believes that something is fishy, regardless of automotive preference. As far as the Fusion vs. Camry war... I'll justify my opinion when others justify their "imports are better by default" opinions... THAT is the bullsh*t that causes the perception gap in the first place. Instead of being in the mindset that "those crappy domestics need to prove that they're better to me" MAYBE, just MAYBE you should try telling me why I should buy a Camry over a Fusion for once? It's the same sh*t, different day... Camry is better by default, IMPORTS are better by default and anything that's said otherwise is automatically "The funniest post I've read all day" THAT IS the IMAGE problem and closed minded opinions like that will be the reason WHY Detroit will never make a comeback.
  2. Did these people not get the e-mail or something?!?!?! The 6 speed will be ROLLED OUT to ALL GMT-900s
  3. Including you, you greenie, Honda humping douche... A big F*** you to the hybrid loving media... Courtesy of GM. Well, well... What cha gonna do now to try and accuse GM of bribing customers?!?! Here we go.... I can see it now. These companies will launch successful SUVs and everyone will once again LOVE them for their $$$. Then it'll get ugly when the new wears off. That's right... When you get KNOCKED DOWN, you get up and hit harder... THAT's the road to success! Cool. That "crumbling" supplier base?!?!?! You mean... ****GASP**** The Tundra isn't the only TEXAS made truck??!?! Could've fooled me (The average CR minded naive consumer) I'm sure we'll see the GREENIES come out of the woodwork condemning us for buying our "eessuvees" and tell us to 'consider their kids" eventhough I'm not having kids and frankly, couldn't care less about theirs. "Famous".... Not "GM heritage" or "Low tech" "Unrefined" or "Outdated" WOW!! I'm impressed. NICE!!!! You mean GM isn't dead yet???!?!? No "tragedy" or "deathwatch"?!?!?!? And these people doubted Wagoner.... (I know, not all is well yet: I'm just taking the opportunity to be a smart ass) WHY in GOD's NAME is this NOT ADVERTISED?!?!?!?!? And those potshots will only get worse, trust me.
  4. The Fusion is MOST CERTAINLY superior to the Camry and Accord, regardless what the media tells us. NOW C'MON GM AND FORD!!!! LET'S SEE A MAJOR MEDIA CAMPAIGN AGAINST CR!!!!!
  5. I AGREE ENTIRELY!!!! This is nice, but GM and Ford need to REALLY take CR to task. But then again, the media HATES GM... So why even try to paint a DIFFERENT picture than what THEY want you to believe anyway?
  6. I agree 100%... I was hoping SO badly that this would make MAJOR media coverage. Oh well, it's a start I guess, and it shows that people ARE starting to question the legitimacy of CR.
  7. I love the un-pimp commercials!! Excellent marketing! Oh, and that dude freaked me out in Constantine as Satan...
  8. SWEET garage!!!! How sad is it that the garage is the first thing I look at when considering a house??? Anyway... BV+FOG on the same block= One helluva heavy metal block party!
  9. NICE!!!!
  10. Reahcing on that one were we??!?! It's all about making money. Somehow "TAHOE" and "AGGRESSIVE DRIVING" don't logically mix in my mind.... Am I the only one with common sense? Yeah right.... I'll believe that when I see it. EXCELLENT NEWS!!!! This is MUCH needed $$$ It's not Consumer Reports so I don't believe it.... J.D. Power=fact, not YUPPIE opinion, so it can't be true... More credit that NO ONE EVER GIVES GM... MORE credit NEVER given to GM... ****This is an EXCELLENT article! It's obvious that the author did her research, actually drove the vehicle and wrote the article based on those facts and not a predisposed OPINION that she formed 20 years ago. AND if GM were to put this much work into ALL of it's architectures and vehicles, then imagine where the company would be now!!!****
  11. This thread is so funny.
  12. I refer you to this article: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/content/1...49391580627324/ Yes, I know. I read that. But, it's from the same source.
  13. Cadillac-Hummer-Saab has always been a sort of GM P.A.G. That's why the dealerships are combined in some places... Personally, I think Saab should be sold with Saturn and Hummer with Cadillac or, more radically, Buick. "PURE American cars, PURE American trucks at your local Buick/Hummer dealer." Anyway, this is a good move... BUT, we must not forget about the corporation as a whole. The sheer massiveness of it is a seling point in and of itself IMO. In a way though, I can see how the "divisions" were merely reduced to "models" in the old GM advertising.
  14. It's more for image than anything else... And RIGHTFULLY so IMO... Ford should have a similar campaign. Most people don't even know what E85 is or that the domestics have been producing these cars for years. I recently asked a co-worker, who drives a Taurus and aspires to own an Outback, if she had ever ran E85 in her car. She said "What are you talking about?" I said; "See that emblem on your fender? That means Flex Fuel Vehicle and means that you can safely run E85." She was clueless... It's just YET ANOTHER technology that GM and Ford have been screwed out of their credit for IMO.
  15. LOL... That's the attitude that got us into this mess... But go ahead, SLAY those LAST few corporate giants... Then have fun unionizing Wal-Mart cashiers when we're all out of a job while the executives are getting fat 'n happy outsourcing to China.
  16. GMC is not the problem in the first place and should not be brought into this... GM's problem is not VOLUME or division related per se, I mean sure, ULTIMATELY that's what the whole business boils down to and what it's all about BUT, they STILL sell 1 in 4 cars in the United States. The problem is FIXED costs and PROFIT MARGINS, hence why DESPITE huge criticism, the GMT900 program was rushed ahead and is so essential to their survival.
  17. I agree... It could use some work. BUT, it is an excellent car overall! GM would be doing excellent in their turnaround bid if they had 4 more "hits" that were the caliber of the Solstice.
  18. First, I thought you actually had to own the car in question for CR to send you a survey. And secondly, I've heard that Toyota has ALL of their dealers subscribe and fill out the surveys. WHY doesn't GM do the same thing??? It's common sense..
  19. LOL... Either way the union is screwed so they might as well just agree. Either they can suffer a few cuts NOW or get IMPLODED in a few months when GM and Ford file chapter 11.
  20. "Solstice....stil isn't up there" ??????? The Solstice is an EXCELLENT vehicle and the DEFINING turning point for GM. He was reffering to the concept.
  21. While I tend to agree, keep in mind that the Camaro was based on the '69 Camaro which is quite possible one of the most recognised and memorable muscle cars ever built.. I'd venture to say that the Impala plays the retro game a little safer an more discrete. I agree with whoever said that it needs to be like the current CTS in that it BORROWS cues from classic Chevrolets (Cadillacs) but isn't a clone.
  22. LOL, yep, as usual our resident insiders are "laughing mightily" at us with their condescending attitudes because they know the agenda and what is happening to Detroit. Then you get the import people laughing along with them (Simply because they're winning by default---I mean, hell when you've sealed the 'insiders' or press/analysts up then you've pretty much got Detroit by the balls) And it all becomes one arrogant ball of "Hey, I'm better than you" and "Wow, you guys are dumb, AS IF" And that; is the essence of these ONE LINER posts that contribute NOTHING to the conversation other than to reinforce their false superiority. AND, I might add, the very essence of owning an import in the first place and subscribing to that culture. Those people seem to think they're better simply by default, and this is reaffirmed by the slurping circle of people who SHOULD know what they're talking about. :twocents:
  23. I think this is GREAT!!!! and a 'no brainer' Think about the potential Saturn has now!!!!! MINIMAL product development, HUGE growth potential and HUGE $$$ potential!!! Could this mean that the Saturn division becomes more like the Hummer division in America, or to a lesser extent GMC???? As in, it becomes one less "Suffering" division to prop up because of the very nature of business and it essentially BEING Opel???? Therefore, more $$$ here for other "damaged brands"
  24. Anybody read this drivel on the stands yet??? The VERY FIRST page has an editorial on how CR is NOT anti-domestic and in it points out several examples of Japan Inc. building cars here and Detroit outsourcing.... (Which set decent with me, because it was fact and NOT really a smear campaign) So why did they put this piece out front??? 1) Why so defensive CR?!?!?! Guilty conscience???? 2) To teach the hippie idiot CR readers how to defend their own clueless asses when they run into people like me that are ITCHING to set them straight??? 3) To hype the "Buy Japan to support America" campaign???? 4) To defend their ever crumbling credibility???? YOU decide!!!
