  1. LOL... Yep... Hell, they even try to give me links to Valium... (Too bad valium is used to treat anxiety instead of ANGER--which seems to be my problem) :rotflmao: LOL... Nah, who'd come to an automotive forum and name themselves after a defunct car company???
  2. Hey! It's that HORRIBLE town in "the rust belt" that we care nothing about!!! It even has SO many beautiful historic automotive buildings and industrial complexes that we're trying to destroy them as FAST as we're trying to destroy the last bastion of the automotive industry! Seriously though, from what I hear Detroit has some GORGEOUS old historic buildings (Most of them automotive related) that are being destroyed simply because people don't care about their history. (My girlfriend is an architect)
  3. I think it shows that GM *KNOWS* the W-Bodies need all the help they can get and is subscribing to the asian think AND 60's Detroit think of updating the cars every year or two. Which is GOOD news!
  4. GM marketing at it's best!!!! I liken it to those commercials where the ONE guy is having to share the office with a bunch of monkeys. Same concept.
  5. Only in a domestic does the real wood "not look real"
  6. Meh... it's a $h!ty, innacurate article by a non car guy... Go figure, it's CNN. (Especially the "not appealing to young BMW and Lexus buyers" as most people I talk to, which are young, LOVE the new Caddys) But it's not all bad. I mean, Cadillac does still have some challenges and I think Lincoln truly is on the brink of a revival... But, IMO Lincoln SHOULD be competing with Cadillac but is not and therefore that makes the WHOLE article pointless. Lincoln competes more with Buick. Oh, and P.S. Lincoln... That's right, follow the media's direction and reposition yourself to appeal to Lincoln/american buyers just like they're trying to get EVERY american division to do. Hell, it just helps them attain their goal of limiting cross shopping between domestics and imports (They're doing this by key comparisons/comments) They're carving out a piece of the pie for Japan Inc (Much like they did for Europe a long time ago) and now they're hedging it to protect those companies. Remember, after all, that Domestics cannot conquest import customers, yet imports CAN conquest domestic buyers according to the analysts. I guess this is their answer for those buyers who "Just won't conform" and "Buy an import" (Damn loyalists and logical people) Then, as you limit yourself to A NICHE of dwindling loyalists just like every other american company (Either by choice or force of the media) you can just die off or cannabalize each other until the weakest divisionS are killed every 5-10 years. The plan is simple and you help is greatly appreciated! (Sarcasm---BIG TIME)
  7. FIRST american car?!?!?!?!? I USED to respect Jordan... Not anymore.
  8. I'm pretty indifferent... I'd LIKE to see an SRX V-series... But an Escalade V-series would just be overkill IMO.
  9. WOW! I found an aqua blur one (with the chrome wheels) last year... BEAUTIFUL vehicle! I'm still in love with it!
  10. LOL... Now guys, I've been trying to post more from LOGIC lately than pure EMOTION which is very difficult for me to do. So, in that light, I'll just say that this article is PURE . This guy is throwing opinions around like a frisbee on the beach and claiming them all as facts. At least when I fling opinions, I ACTUALLY admit that they're opinions. L-A-M-E.
  11. Well... Looks like all that NEGATIVE media worked. (Remember, I told you the media would strike harder after 2 months of positive momentum... Hence, GM is down the most) GM and Ford = Screwed, because they're the only ones on that list CONSTANTLY destroyed by the media. Of course, Toyota STILL gained share despite being down (By design, of course) Honda is even after being sit up on a GOLDEN thone by the media for the past several weeks. You know... The BIG media blitz against Ford a few years ago REALLY worked. They've lost 6-7 points of share while the ever intensifying blitz against GM has so far only cost 2-4 points... But it shows the overall pattern, they attacked Ford and it worked, now the focus is on GM and it is working... Carving out those points for Japan Inc to suck right up, easy as cake. Did anyone else notice that Toyota passed Ford to take second place in share numbers... IT was EASY!!!!! That's what happens when you have the press working for you out of the goodwill of their hearts and the ATMs of your bank account.
  12. Good grief... I wish I could get one SOOO bad!!! (Nudges Camino) "Can I borrow $30K?"
  13. EXCELLENT POST!!!!!!! Of course, one could argue that at one time GM essentially did the exact same thing. (Something they should be doing again as we speak)
  14. Okay, first, I could definately see this. Secondly, our government will never take Toyota down because they are NOT an american company and simply put, Japan has bought so much of our currency that they own us anyway.
  15. SWEET!!!! I would like to support this if at all possible. NASCAR is a crock.... Plain and simple. And I'm not so sure that I would want THAT image for the Camaro and CERTAINLY not Pontiac. (Unless NASCAR were to change quite a bit) They now basically race a GENERIC car with generic drivers. I used to enjoy both NASCAR and Busch (I still have family in the business) ESPECIALLY when the Busch cars were ACTUALLY different like they're supposed to be. On a related note: How the hell is Toyota going to factor in to this?!?!? The CELICA replacment?!?!?! Last I heard, that wasn't RWD, V8 or large enough. But it is afterall Toyota... I'm SURE exceptions will be made and we'll all praise them for their amazing "less is more" approach while they dominate NASCAR. TWO MORE RELATED ISSUES 1) I'd LOVE to see Pontiac do a Formula 1 team and 2) WHAT is Pontiac going to use to compete in the drifting series now? The Solstice I guess? I certainly hope they don't just pull out of the competition.
  16. This might sound dumb... But what exactly IS the UV8? I don't even think I've heard of it before this thread.
  17. I respect everyone here... I admit, I'm a type A personality so I ALWAYS love a good challenge! I harass people sometimes about their thoughts, but that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of whether I like/respect them or not, even when it gets a little personal. Besides, GOD KNOWS I'm not the LEAST bit biased, close minded, opinionated -or- obnoxious!!!! No.... Not TheF_O_G!!!!!!! Not at ALL! :AH-HA_wink: In fact, I think disagreement and conflict, especially in a community like this, is constructive and educational. It opens your mind for a different perspective on things. For example, just to pick on someone; The O.C. One of my favorite things to do is harass him about certain subjects, yet he's probably one of the many members I respect more than others simply because he IS so opinionated and doesn't hesitate to take me down a notch. Anyway, not to ramble, but we have a great group here for the most part; love us or hate us.
  18. Awwwwww.... It looks like a REALLY scared xTOASTER (xB)!!!! You know, like a baby Chihuaua during his first trip to the vet.... VERY huge eyes, a concerned look and all hunkered down and ready to jump off the table.. Scared Have you smacked YOUR boyfriend lately?
  19. L-finesse.... Didn't that used to be a shampoo??? Or conditioner???? Oh well, it was probably yawningly LAME too.
  20. I think AWD is indeed in the plans for the next CTS.
  21. This could be good and bad.... The GOOD is obvious... Better resale, less fleet, better model mix, better profits. The BAD: It's going to effect the numbers on share and sales, and the media WILL exploit that. It might knock the Impala out of the top ten sellers (Not sure) and it might limit exposure to the Impala (Less to rent--less exposure) Not a major point; I know. If those are ALL fleet sales being cut, then the more the merrier. I DO like what I'm hearing though... It looks like Chevrolet is really getting some strong momentum again (Despite what the media says) and so lives Chevrolet, so lives GM in a lot of ways. I also like how GM is so carefully micro managing the Impala and pitting it directly against the Camry. They need to CONTINUE aggressive marketing and initiatives to BETTER it position as a competitor, such as this. And then, when the new one debuts in a few years it'll be in an even better position to carry the torch. Impala must be KEY to GM's strategy and survival. Oh, and PUSH those SS too... I'm sure not everyone wants a 300 or Charger.
  22. While I haven't driven a G6.... I can testify to the fact that the Altima isn't that great... Sure, it looks decent, accerlerates like hell---I'll give them that and rides pretty smooth. But it's nothing to write home about like people would have you think... The way it was such a HUGE success: M-A-R-K-E-T-I-N-G. Plain and simple Nissan EFFECTIVELY marketed the hell out of the car. GM hasn't effectively marketed a car since.... well, who knows? Sure, the rags wrote good things... But they (As far as I have seen) were also pretty fair in pointing out it's flaws. In a nutshell: Nissan did an EXCELLENT job at making a Camry with a little bit of CLASS and EXCITEMENT. But they didn't make it SO exciting and classy that they alienated the "Appliance buyer" that buys the Camcord. And THAT is what's called a DOUBLE win. They won over consumers by not going too far and they won over auto rags by building something MORE appealing than your average sushi sedan. The G6, like SO MANY GM PRODUCTS of the past 5 years IS essentially a good 'spot on' competitor that is marred by OBVIOUS rough edges and compromises. Unfortunately those compromises are BLATANTLY obvious and that's why they get lukewarm to HORRIBLE PR (Depending on how much the writer hates GM) The G6 isn't a bad car, and the rags HAVE given it credit. But it also isn't SPECIAL in any way.... There isn't ANY reason to buy it over any other "appliance" in this class save for loyalty or price. And this segment is one of the ROUGHEST segments in the business right now. And we all know where americans buy their "appliances" that's right, in a Japanese dealership where they've been TOLD to buy them for 20 years... Unless GM offers something CLEARLY ABOVE the competition then they will continue to lose sales because they are starting from a NEGATIVE position in a lot of consumers minds anyway, so they have to not only work hard enough to break even, but also push even harder to UP THE ANTE and SURPASS the competition.
  23. I really dislike my Altima that I'm driving now... It has SO many flaws, doesn't drive well (Compared to my Focus, so this might be characteristics of it's larger size---I'm doing an apples to oranges Consumer Reports type of comparison here) BOTTOMS out EVERY frikkin' WHERE and while handsome, is generally bland to look at. I see they still haven't fixed one of my LEAST FAVORITE pieces of the car... The FAT ASS bumper on the rear... GOD!!! It reminds me of one of those 1980's actresses that has the "LONG ASS SYNDROME" because their Levi's are pulled up to their bra line. Anyway... A lot of the new Nissan's look like GM's... ALTHOUGH, because they're asian they're VASTLY superior naturally. (Well, actually french, but americans are too DUMB to know that)
  24. And that resulted in... ... ...WHAT advantage exactly?????
  25. IMHO, CR only has GM by the balls because GM allows them to. GM should SERIOUSLY refute their findings with investigations, facts and major media. I applaud Lori Queen as loudly as the next pissed off GM fan, but fact is, she probably only made things worse. I bet anything CR writes about GM this year will be overtly negative (Much like Dan Neil since he took a slap on the hand) It's blatantly obvious what agenda C.R. and people like Dan Neil have. UNFORTUNATELY, that agenda is shared by A LOT of the media. It's time GM fights for itself instead of being the Politically correct, POLITE, fair competitor that it is... You can't fight fair in a boxing match if the competition is beating you about the head with a wooden plank. It just doesn't work and GM is losing/WILL lose. TOO BAD they don't do something about it... And I don't mean "Build product to convince people otherwise" These are ADMITTED and BLATANT GM/Detroit haters, they enjoy seeing GM and Detroit bleed if for nothing else than to prove their own superioroty.
