1) My post wasn't about numbers.... Rather image and appeal. 2) Naturally the numbers are going to trend down since SHARE IS TANKING. 3) I'd like to know if the coupe is fully ramped by now and how much that affects sales (I'm sure it probably is fully up by now though) 4) How do the prices of the 2 compare? I'd be willing to bet that the Grand Am was comparatively cheaper. 5) How do fleet sales factor in? I know G6 sales to fleets, but in 2001 the Grand Am was already 5 years old and I'm willing to bet tht fleet sales were through the roof. And OBVIOUSLY, if the G6 IS appealing to people my age then Pontiac apparently DOES still build some sort of excitement in addition to the GTO and Solstice. LOL... Yep, I have my moments of bravery. But don't worry, when in relation to GM they're always followed by subsequent failure and misery. (Which is not at all always GM's fault) J/K

What, no; "Where are the people crying import bias when GM ACTUALLY builds product right and gets good reviews?" Looks like GM BUILT this one right, yet we get the same biased and WILL CONTINUE to get it until the common qualifier is; "I buy an import because it's just better...because." Yeah.. For people who haven't got anything better to do than rag on domestics.

I think it's ridiculous that the guy is that *Bitchy* For god's sake... If it's that big of an issue, go to BEST BUY and buy a $50 Bluetooth wireless headset. I think the owner of a $57,000 luxury SUV can afford that.
-
I agree.. I think he's done relatively well given what he started with. The product will (Hopefully) really start to connect and pick up (If the media will allow it) as the new 'no compromise' models hit showrooms. GM has SO much potential!

VERY NICE!!!!!! But, a word of advice... Take VERY good care of that nose piece, because the RS set up is OUTRAGEOUS if you have to replace it. I think the urethane nose piece (The little 3-4 inch nose extension on the grille--for those that don't know) alone is around $500 where I buy my parts from. And that's not counting the chrome grille surround, the upper AND lower valence, the RS "spoiler" and (In my case, mines a '73) the three piece grille insert. What does it have under the hood? P.S. "One More For the Road" Wasn't that Lynard Skynard?

LOL... I love those commercials!!!

I'm live and go to school in a college town (imagine that... apparently I'm captain obvious today too) I see MORE G6's than any other GM vehicle... They even out number COBALTS here. As we speak, there are 3 of them sitting in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Apparently it's a pretty BIG hit, ESPECIALLY among the young, COLLEGE set (Which are MOSTLY import influenced) Now I know this is just personal observation and that it doesn't mean jack in the grand scheme of things. But, it seems to me that GM has some positive momentum with the G6, especially in the audience that it is apparently appealing to. The coupe and convertible should only serve to further this. I'd just like to give CREDIT where it's due! (Unlike the "G6 is a failure" media) The G6 IS selling and Pontiac DOES hold equity with YOUNG people. GM needs to EXPAND on this and keep growing the brand now that it seems that they've got the peoples attention. This just goes to show that "Damaged brands" CAN fight the stigma and when good product is offered, (The G6 isn't as good as it should be but it certainly the best VOLUME Epsilon, as of now, that is) people will **STILL** buy and consider domestics. "DAMAGED BRANDS" ARE ONLY AS 'DAMAGED' AS YOU ALLOW THEM TO BE!!! The G6 conquests (however small they may be, or large, 11th best selling) and the Lucerne SUCCESS is PROOF of this! Anybody else notice this too???

LOL... Yep, to offset the 48 hours (in comparison) of BAD publicity.. EDIT: (I know, I'm just picking.... Sorry guys, Just ignore me)

At the Honda Civic Temple paying homage with the other "49 journalists who selected the Civic and Ridgeline as the Car and Truck of the year" (AS Honda would say)

I'm cautiously optimistic that we might be FINALLY seeing that product fueled revolution that GM has been promising for YEARS... If only GM can hold on long enough for these new products to take hold.... P.S. Oh, wait.. I forgot... The media will find *SOME* reason to shun them... Nevermind. [/random a**hole mode]

LOL... And unhappy kids turn into... Well, me.

Now c'mon guys..... You ALL know how this is going to go... The mags will slurp, slurp with ALL sorts of Kudos. And Toyota will sell a record 15,000000000000000000 of these things DESPITE BETTER cars being on the market and DESPITE it looking like a whale. And EVERY Grandma and Yuppie boomer will be parading these things around like the fattest HOG at the county fair awaiting their "social approval blue ribbon" But, this shows how COMPLACENT Toyota is becoming... Each generation of Camry becomes LESS innovative, LESS substantial feeling and LESS attractive... Too bad americans are so dumb though, and too bad GM will be gone by the time they realize it (If ever) P.S. And wasn't it Dan Neil that complained about the '1970's blue/green clocks in domestics'??!?!?! He better to hell be saying the same thing about this BLOB. (YEAH RIGHT!!! LOL)

I used to respect him when I had no knowledge of his HORRIBLE taste in cars. But now that I'm enlightened as to how big (pun intended) of an idiot he is; he gets NO RESPECT.

Here we F***ing go again.... LIMIT the buyer base! NO cross shopping because we all know that IMPORTS and DOMESTICS are bought by different calibers of people...RIGHT?!?!?!?!? Yeah, because the previous gen Escalade had NOTHING to do with that... I mean, it was after all, the FIRST angular ART & SCIENCE Cadillac. (Sarcasm) AS USUAL... "GM STILL can't do it right." FWIW I think the Denali's interior is twice as nice as the 'Slades. STU-PID..... Okay.... So... Because you "Don't LIke" the award winning feature provided on this vehicle because you're a whiney little b*tch. WE'RE supposed to listen to you complain about it?!??!? The feature was there, YOU SUBJECTIVELY CHOSE NOT TO USE IT. STOP whining! Oh, Jesus Christ..... More of this Car & Driver-esque nitpicking bull$h!.... GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Not ALL luxury cars feature this technology, and it'll be here in 7 months, so GET OVER IT!!!!! Just another LOSER trying to find ways to screw over GM.... Crying about stupid $h! like an express up button. And what's more, he ACTUALLY made the rep defend these things... I would've given the guy the FINGER and said crawl back in your press room. Once again... LIMITING the buyer base. Care to justify that with facts?!?!?!?!?! Nope?!?!?!?! That's what I thought. ****Overall, a BEGRUDGINGLY good review**** Oh, and I love how all these IDIOT journalists play the Escalades popularity off like it's some kind of BAD thing or HORRIBLE image... It seems to me that having the most ELITE and INFLUENTIAL people in America (Hollywood) enamored with your product would be a GREAT thing that would translate wide scale success. But, then again, Cadillac is a successful american division... I guess they're all just jealous that IT slipped through the cracks. (Eventhough the popularity WAS considered a good thing not 4 or 5 years ago, I guess they're "Past that now") Well, either that or they are doing the typical liberal elitest thing of looking down their noses at those who are different. I don't see it being thrown in Honda's face that their new Civic is the WHITE TRASH posterboy for mavens of Ricerville. I don't see it being thrown in Toyota's face that Toyotas and Lexi are bought mostly by SELF RIGHTEOUS yuppies that actually know NOTHING of cars/car buying facts yet only buy them because they're TOLD to and because of their need to affirm that they are right, righteous and liked at all times by the "onlookers" that they're trying to maintain their precious 'holier than thou' image for. (READ: MEDIA---They're the type that buy Toyotas and Lexi) I don't see it being thrown in Subarus face that their cars are the mode of transportation of choice for BURNED OUT flower children who shave their dogs more often than they shave their legs, or lame coffee shop types that are so out of touch with reality that they might as well go HUG THAT TREE since that's about all they're worth. NO, NOPE.... Don't see those COMMON stereotypes (That could also be considered positives if worded differently) ONLY the domestics suffer "STIGMA" in THIS country/media. And ANYTHING/EVERYTHING seems to BE a stigma! The ELITE of AMERICAN are enamoured with Cadillacs yet it's now somehow a STIGMA! I'll stop short of a complete rant here.

Agreed 100%!!!

Escalade is a guranteed hit and Cadillac is already strong on the truck side. DTS: Yes, but, not where it should be (And I happen to know of when it will be replaced) The jury is still out on the SRX refresh as to whether it'll be just smoke an mirrors or actually have substance. CTS is a given, STS is still foggy and will not serve it's purpose unless a new interior is grafted in. And I would hardly call the XLR enhancements a new interior. Besides, I'm talking on down the road.... 2010-2012.

Feds May Overhaul Fuel Standards for Big SUVs
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Variance's topic in Industry News
Because ALL of the do-gooder, over the hill yuppies and bark hugging hippies seem to think that they can impose their lifestyles on everyone else. People whine about christians forcing their agendas then ignore these types... One day I'll have an H2 and it'll say one it (F*** you hippie, I don't CARE about your kids, I'M not having any!) -
Feds May Overhaul Fuel Standards for Big SUVs
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Variance's topic in Industry News
GM will be fine... By then the SUVs will probably be able to meet or beat any proposed ratings anyway (Remember, this will get watered down just like any other 'plan') If anything it'll seal the thirsty imports out of the niche because their more thirsty designs won't fly (Not that they're in the segment that much as it is, but you know they want to be) The headline about GM is just that; another "Die, GM, Die" headline. -
With all the talk of a new Saturn and Global RWD for most of GM's other divisions. Not much has been said about Cadillac's future. They've got a good line up now but they CANNOT afford to sit on their laurels. Are all of their replacement programs on Sigma still on track??? I just think it'd be a crying shame if GM began ignoring Cadillac again and the brand started regressing AGAIN.

Cadillac Eyes Super Vs and Tuner Vs à la Saleen,
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Variance's topic in Cadillac
First of all, I think working with an outside tuner sounds EXCELLENT But, ditch the Super V Just make the IMPROVEMENTS to the current V-series line up, and (here's a revalation) CALL THEM V-SERIES. Then the original V-Series traits could filter into the base models. -
Now we're microanalyzing minutes???? I guess it's suspenseful build up. The press probably has a bet going as to who can guess the minute in which GM goes under. (THanks to them among other things)
-
Well, the street and the analysts are FINALLY getting what they want. Striping GM of it's assets to make a buck. They'll continue to do this until GMAC is sold too. Then they push GM on off the plank to rot at the bottom like the Titanic and Enron.

My GF has a Cavilier and it's been an excellent car! Utilitarian, but excellent. As for the Fit and Yaris: 1) I love how EVERYONE is pretty much brushing the Aveo off now since this new trio (including the Versa) has shown up. Most of the time it isn't even mentioned as a competitor, the press are already thinking that no one will even consider it. 2) They'll sell every Fit they make simply because it's a Honda and if the press keep the full court charge on for this car like they have for ALL of Honda as of late, it'll do well.

It all boils down to this: The media WANTS GM and Ford to fail and they will tell THAT story irregardless of fact UNTIL they convince enough people and UNTIL it comes true... They're pulling for Toyota and Honda... Happy 100th birthday GM!!! (2008) Much like Ford on their centennial, you can be assured that NO ONE LIKES YOU, YOUR PRODUCTS SUCK and BANKRUPTCY IS CERTAIN! All courtesy of the FEW in the media who DECIDE for the masses. DETROIT, you are the PREDETERMINED weakest link.
