Cadillac News: Cadillac to unveil the ELR in Detroit
yougojay replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Sure, no problem, let them make it. I heard J-Lo really wants one... They can sell 15,000 of them over 7 years like they did with the XLR, then stop production on it & blame it on the economy in 2020. Go for it (again) Cadillac -

Yes - Like the ATS & CTS - The new ATS is a NICE car, and the CTS is a nice car, the CTS Coupe is to die for good-looking & it is desirable (IMHO) as it is a rare coupe these days. GM (Cadillac) needs to come out with an ATS Coupe, it would be a great car I am sure -

Well, I feel the same way - I am sure it will be a beauty, but GM will never sell enough of them for it to be a well-known, popular Cadillac. I know the auto makers have to start somewhere with this electric vehicle thing, but the prices on them is a real buzz-kill. It is going to be a low volume halo car...it's a luxury car, so the price is justifiable. It's not a volume Chevy... They'll be lucky if they build & sell 5,000 - 10,000 of these. Build something that will sell to the masses, not to Hollywood stars & corporate CEO's -

You can watch drunk drivers on 'Cops' do a better job with the alphabet in a sobriety test than trying to figure out these new car 'letter' names...I finally figured out Cadillac naming (I think...) and that's from staring at this forum for so long... Took me awhile to realize "welcome to the land of Lincoln" exactly, Lincoln - what, MKZ, MKX MKOK- whatever, I feel so distanced from Lincoln cars, but back in the day you knew a Lincoln & you knew the name of the model...Continental, Town Car, Mark Series. Give the face a NAME

Yep - same platforms, same plant, glad the Camaro will be built in the States again - From the Lansing State Journal - General Motors Co.’s popular muscle car, the Camaro, is racing toward Lansing. The Detroit carmaker said today it will move production of the retro sports car from Oshawa, Canada, to the Lansing Grand River assembly plant. GM officials said in a statement the company decided to move production because of lower capital invesmtnet and better production. The Chevrolet Camaro will join the Cadillac ATS and CTS lines at the Lansing Grand River plant, which has roughly 1,500 workers. The ATS and CTS, like the Camaro, are rear-wheel drive vehicles. The Canadian Auto Workers union said the production shift will come in late 2015 or early 2016. GM officials would not discuss timing of the move or whether new jobs would be created. Local GM spokeswoman Erin Davis said the carmaker expects to save money because the Lansing Grand River plant is tooled for rear-wheel drive vehicels, while the Camaro is the Oshawa plant’s only rear-wheel drive model. She said it was too early to determine if jobs would be created or how much GM will invest in the plant to prepare it for Camaro production. The Oshawa plant has 2,200 workers who make several vehicles, including the Camaro, Chevrolet Equinox and Impala, the Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal. Lansing Mayor Virg Benero was predictably pleased with GM’s decision. "Bringing the Camaro to the Lansing Grand River assembly plant is incredibly good news and another major leap forward for our city and for the entire Lansing region.” Bernero said in statement. “It is further proof that ... Lansing, Michigan, continues to be the best place in America to build cars, thanks to our world-class workforce and the strong partnership between the UAW, GM and the city of Lansing.” The CAW blasted the decision. “General Motors has once again shown a complete and utter disregard for its workers and also Canadians in general, whose tax dollars kept the company out of bankruptcy,” CAW President Ken Lewenza said in a statement. Later, during a conference call, he called the production shift “an assault on Canada.” In addition to GM jobs, Lewenza said, moving Camaro production to Michigan could cause the closure of several auto suppliers in the Toronto area. GM has sold 78,544 Camaros this year through November. That’s down 3.6 percent from a year earlier.

These Hybrid Silverado trucks have a 40,000 base price - the 1500 Silverado has a 23,000 base price. To me, it's a no-brainer... the Vortec V6 is rated at 15 & 20 mpg, while the hybrid is 20 & 23 mpg.....OH, and 17,000 more in price. Plus all the extra techie stuff on the hybrid that will most likely fail after years of use.. WAY too expensive & most likely, too expensive to keep for the long term...especially after the warranty is over.

Will this re-design include 'looks' ? -
Yes, Wouldn't that be great? What happened to getting in a vehicle & actually driving it? Wow, seriously, actually focusing on shifting, staying in the middle of your lane, anticipating conditions around you.. Driving education won't work...people in class rolling their eyes thinking, 'yeah I know, I know, I'm not stupid" then getting behind the wheel and doing the same things (eating a bowl of cereal, texting, blabbing on the phone, changing their underwear, putting on make-up, reading the newspaper, playing with a computer tablet, refinishing the coffee table in the back seat, performing open heart surgery, yeah, the usual stuff...) It will never change. Maybe add all the safety features and cut out all the extra junk? What's wrong with manual windows, manual door locks, NO Air? All the fancy stuff stops working and you end up spending 100's of dollars to fix it. That will never happen because people are spoiled & used to those conveniences. SO, they will eventually add all of this safety stuff, and vehicles will keep going up & up in price.

I'll bet Rhode Island is really happy there are bids on this... -
Icy Cube? Dash is kinda cool - like the front end, but the shape is like a rounded off shoebox. Love the HHR's, was impressed on how solid it (HHR) felt when I first drove one.

Cadillac News: 1,200-hp Hennessey Cadillac CTS-V Coupe offered
yougojay replied to G. David Felt's topic in Cadillac
Sheesh! That coupe sounds like a jet...! I would be completely happy with a stock V6 coupe, I've never been one to run a car hard or race around all the time. IMHO this Caddy Coupe is the best looking car to come out in a long time. Really miss all the coupes from days gone by. It is great to see the Camaro & Caddy Coupes on the road, very, very good-looking cars. -
This is such good news, love to hear positive news in regards to GM and their sales.
