Yessss...... Come drive a Lexus with us Flybrain....... Come drive with us...... Forever, and forever, and forever....... :P

Maybe because they aren't built this way.

The article is mixed (they have to mention GM's recent troubles), but the author really likes the car: But nothing quite compares, in style or as a symbol, with the Pontiac Solstice roadster that recently went on sale. Registration required

Front-End Repair? Maybe Just Throw It Away Registration may be required That's got to hit the resale values of these cars- why would you buy a used one if it'll cost a fortune to repair? How much is collision insurance going to be?

I thought the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof (or AstroRoof in 70's GM speak) was that the sunroof was metal and the moonroof was glass.

I'd prefer the LA auto show.

That must look really attractive....

Clarkson reminds me of that annoying guy from the Food Network, Anthony Bourdain: the Brits are smart enough not to export Clarkson, while the Food Network continues to send Bourdain out to annoy people in far flung places, seemingly waiting for someone to get "Suddenly, Last Summer" on his snarky a$$...

They lost me with the "screaming chicken" jab. What are they like 100? When was the last time Pontiac had that graphic? I can't say anything about the driving experience, since I haven't driven either one, but as far as the other points: The putting the top down experience- Miata definately wins. You can't do the Solstice at a stoplight. Having said that, I don't remember this being a huge issue with reviewers of the old 3 series convertible, and I notice that the person in the video was not doing this from inside the car. And I tried the old Miata at the LA Auto show, and despite years of yoga and bicep curls, raising the top was not the gentle tug that most reviewers write about. Cupholders: yeah, that's vital in a drivers car. The Solstice doesn't have 4? Why not bitch about the lack of LCD screens in the back of the driver's seat headrests? Trunk space: Miata wins. But, I've had my latest car for three years and have opened the trunk maybe six times, three of which was to deal with a flat. I really just wish that some of these reviewers would stop trying to reviews of cars that aren't rational as if they were. They aren't; they seat two, don't carry much, don't get great gas mileage and really don't make much rational sense. To be honest, even a back-to-back test drive is going to take a backseat to how the car looks. Since the Solstice has just about as good handling as the Miata, if I had 25k lying around, I'd have to go for the Solstice. For me, it just looks that much better. (edit)BTW- Balthazar- congrats on another great avatar. In a perfect world there'd be a yearly C&G award for the best avatar, with the prize being a Balthazar of champagne. That'd be a party...(/edit)

Cadillac had autronic eye in the 50's. Intellibeam is a better version of it.

Just my opinion, but I think it looks loke a cross between an X-3 and Bender from Futurama

No, what he's saying is that GM has not been good at massaging the media, and he's right. They let Toyota get the rep of being the "Green" manufacturer when they were the first ones out with electric cars, and have played it far too close to the vest with the fuel cell cars. I can see that the whole fuel cell thing is far away, but they really could have sold it a bit more- they had the HyWire (if I remember correctly) that was based upon the "skate": they should have done a few more bodies for it and had some drive alongs for the press: something to show them how easy it would be to refuel it, change the body, etc., along with hard numbers about how much better cost-wise it would stack up to a hybrid. They need to get people talking about this and pressuring for the infrastructure to support it- that was the way the first autos took off...

I agree- I had a V8160 for years and finally was entreatied by Verizon to get a new (heavily subsidised) V710. It can do all of the things you mentioned, but most of them I have to pay Verizon for, so I don't bother. But the Bluetooth is great: I'm one of those people who always forgets to take the phone out of my pocket and put the earpiece in (alright, I'm not that popular, happy? <sob>), so when I get a phone call, I can grab the earpiece out of the ashtray, press the button, and start talking. But if that's not an issue (I have a stick, and can't hold a phone and drive), then I say keep your StarTac. They are great phones.

We get loads of exotics in my neighborhood- there's a Ferrari, a Lambo, an Aston-Martin, and a Rolls dealership within a mile of me, and a Mercedes dealer right on the corner. I get more stoked seeing an American car from the 50's or 60's than I do from seeing a Ferrari- a few days ago I saw an absolutely cherry sea-green '59 4-window Cadillac. Just gorgeous..

I've been cruising by Martin Pontiac-Cadillac in West LA for a while now looking for one, and they don't have any.

Great. Thanks. Now I'll be going to bed, like, next week. :)

Oh what the hey, it can't be any more of a waste of time than match.com: I'm Tom I'm 6"2' I have lightish brown hair and light green eyes My favorite food is any really fresh berry (straw, rasp, blue..) I like driving around the greater Los Angeles area dissing the taste of people with more money than me. I would enjoy doing this with a man near my height. I would enjoy doing other things as well, but this is a family discussion board.

Lutz talks about a streched Kappa for Pontiac (MT)
tmp replied to Northstar's topic in Heritage Marques
I think that Kappa is the answer to keep Pontiac alive and well- they should make a 3 series killer out of it now: not the bloated, Bangled, burdened-by-electronic 3 series of today, but a lean, mean driving machine: and they should be able to keep it exclusive for two years, before Cadillac is able to use the platform for a more luxurious version to be the BLS in both Europe and the US. -
You need new girlfriends.

Jeesh, Pauly.. That's more than what I pay. Oy, I need to marry rich.....

Don't count yourself out yet. Guys grow more slowly that girls. My sister topped out when she was 15 years old. I didn't finish growing until well into my twenties. I was about 5'9 to 5'10 in high school, and I topped out at 6'2 1/2"

Could it be Arrogance's "Preying Mantis"? That's what I got doing a google search, anyway.
-
"original placement of the handbrake and shifter"? It's on the console, people. It would be original if they put it in the glovebox.
-
I've had the same thing happen to me. The last one was a long time ago- it wasn't a lot of fun, but I got over it. Sadly, we didn't remain friends. He drifted from just partying into serious drug addiction long about the time that I had decided that hard-partying just wasn't for me.

The video is a few years old too. I'm surprised Howard Dean didn't play it to people- it makes his whoo-hoo's look like he was in a coma.
