  1. www.thecarconnection.com has pics of the red one in their Camaro story. I think GM wanted to make it a surprise, which is why they tried so hard to cover it up the past year. Will it be Zeta or Sigma lite?
  2. The last cars with portholes, before recent times, were on the last RWD Park Ave's in 1984. I think the last LeSabre with them was 1982? {Or, were portholes still on the RWD Estate Wagons into 1990?}
  3. Well, I know I made some mad not beleiving it, but now that they finally unviel it, I certainly am glad. As for whether it's better than the Stang or Challenger, it's apples, oranges and bananas. All are good cars!
  4. It's great that is has not been 'softened' and 'dumbed down' for Mall-rats. Will mop the floor with the RAV4.
  5. It's great to actually see it, and not just rumors!
  6. Doom and gllom for gas prices have been predcited since 1979. Gas was supposed to be $3 a gallon in 1983, not. Adjusted for inflation, $3 gas now is $1.50 in 1981. If gas goes over $4, the drilling crews will hit Alaska faster than a comet.
  7. These days, "one size does not fit all". See Detorit News article about Future Cars, makers cannot cater to just one kind of look or customer. Young kids may want all futuristic cars that edn up out of style in one year. So, makers have to diversify and appeal to many niches. And so called "retro" is not going anywhere. But then neither is anything else that looks good.
  8. That is an interesting statement, until one realizes that Ford has never had a name for their pick-ups. Also, Chevrolet trucks did not have names until 1999 Silverado [previously they were C/K pickups, and had trim names]. Dodge didn't call them "Rams", until the 80's.
  9. According to today's Autmotive News, they say "of course it [concept] will be called Camaro". Check www.autonews.com
  10. It has been stated a few times that the LaX is outselling the Cent-regal lines.
  11. They were removed from [mid sized A body] Skylarks in 1968, and were never on any 1973 up Centuries and Regals. {GN not inc.} They had them on the RWD X body Apollo/Skylark from 1973-1979. Not on the FWD X cars.
  12. I doubt that there are any LaCrosse CXS cars to rent. The agencys buy in bulk, and GM isn't going to give away loaded cars.
  13. It reminds me of the Pontiac T1000, [or many other cheapo rebadged GM cars] just a Chevy with a Pontiac grille. What's the point?
  14. "Youth" ends up getting used cars anyway. And most are looking for cheap transportaion, not sports cars. Not all "youth" buyers are male car nuts.
  15. A agree that they will sell well, since large SUV buyers will have a good reason to get a new one. High end buyers want the latest styles, and will want to get these.
  16. "Wasn't Buick supposed to be getting billions for new development?" Didn't most of that go down the drain with the stock price plunge, and the "legacy costs" of the past few years.
  17. "...that interior is bad. its like no better than it was in the 60's." There were no Dodge Challengers before 1970 model year. Also, muscle car buyers are not "Honda Fanatic" sissies who nit pick interior parts to death.
  18. Re: Pontiac's 'performance roots' Since 1926, the first Pontiacs, they were 'a step up from Chevy'. It wasn't until the 57 Bonneville, and then 64 GTO that they were the 'sporty division'. From the 70's to now, they have changed 'images' often. Also, if the sales numbers were addd up over the years, the 'average' Pontiacs far outnumber the 'sporty ones'. Point is, that Pontiac is and always be the 'mid price line', not ALL performance cars. Still, GTO should continue, along with mainstream Pontiacs.
  19. "There should be a re-badged Aveo for Pontiac" When will some got out of 1981? Just like that rebadged Chevette, eh? GM cannot and should not resort to such useless cars, anymore.
  20. "Why no higher MPG"? People demand all the features that add weight these days.
  21. Names that evok images of shuffleboard and nursing homes, or 70's platform shoes and polyester disco suits. GM has to sell to people who live in this century.
  22. "Monte Carlo sales have been far more steady.. " Then how come MC sales are way down? It's going the way of the other big tuna 'disco era' coupes. "our GM rep has told us that the Monte Carlo and the Impala will be gone after 2008 and replaced by a new sedan, 2dr coupe and convertible, wouldn't say what model. " Yeah and ''Big Foot'' is going to be on Jay Leno next week, too. How can GM kill the current Impala after only two years? If this so called RWD replacement is coming for MY 2008, then it would have to be ready to market in 12-18 months [spring-fall 2007]! They would be in the running prototype phase by now. Where are they? If and when GM decides to build Zeta or Holdan RWD based cars, where will they build them with all the plants closing?
  23. For every one new Caddy sod with a fake drop top, there are 100+ younger buyers turned off at the sight of it and go, "eww I ain't getting no Old Man's car". And GM wonders why they are losing buyers? Sticking to old timer float mobiles is one reason.
  24. For all the work you do, you deserve it!
  25. The current Mali' i only in its 3rd year, I don't see it being a 4 year car. Unless they keep it as a 'fleet only car" like the old N bodies? GM's future plans change daily, so who really knows? I am at the point where I don't believe it unless it comes out of Lutz' or Wagoner's mouth.
