  1. But, this may mean 'bye bye' to some more 'cherished' brands. "Pontiac Lucerne"? or "Chevy Aura"??
  2. Well, the analysts were wrong, wrong, wrong in their 'gloom' predictions for Jan 06. They would be fired if they had real jobs. HHR was called "late to the party". Well, the 'party' is still going on and stronger than ever. HHR and PT Cruiser show no signs of a "fad" as some 'car experts' said. Another 'educated prediction' shot to smithereens. Who pays these people?????? And those that were worried the LeSabre name going away would be a mistake, look at the Lucerne sales. It was time for the 'Great Grandad of car names' to retire. Same for the Century/Regal.
  3. hmm, maybe the person is thinking of 'Freestar', the renamed Windstar. Anyway, the analysts who forgot about the Fusion and bashed the 500, in all the 'gloom' stories last month, can eat crow.
  4. The Freestyle isn't going to fleets. Most rentals are sedans or vans. Taurus is going to fleets yes, maybe they are stockpiling??
  5. Oh booo hoooo! Ridgeline is tanking, wahhhhh!
  6. It isn't re-designed, it's just a restyle. It is the same platform and body shell as before.
  7. Careful what you wish for, GM could be forced to cancel C&G's favorite brands and cars.
  8. Well, see what GM can do if they push hard? Some complained that dropping the LeSabre was a mistake, but here it shows that it was a good thing. If the new car had an old name, it wouldn't attact new buyers. And the name 'Park Ave.' may as well be 'Depends undergarmets' or 'Polident'.
  9. ".. he would propose meaningful increases in CAFE. He's not and he never will." If that happens, then C&G can kiss their dream of new large and sporty RWD cars coming back good bye!
  10. What's interesting is all over the net, there are people who say "Real Americans who are Republican buy US made cars". "Only wacko Libs drive imports" And look what their leader really thinks?? It's laughable.
  11. As long as there is some market for benches, offer it as option. Seeing a few DTS's in Chicago area, also.
  12. There is no way that GM can whip up a new "RWD Roadmaster" in 6 months, without any testing or news stories. And Holden would have told of any importing from AUS of new models. The Camaro was a 'surprise', yeah, but it is still a concept. Dealers only know how to sell cars.
  13. A bigger Malibu could get current FWD Impala buyers, and a RWD Impala could get truck buyers to switch back to cars. The W body is at the end of its life.
  14. The next GP is listed in news stories as a potential Zeta based product. But, I want to see it with MSRP stickers on the windows, before I believe it.
  15. The next car in line at Nissan for an update is the Altima, not Maxima. So maybe the 07 Alty will show, escpecially since the 07 Camry has been unvieled
  16. Well seeing how young you are, thinking there was a '69 is no biggie. It was a 1970 model car, but new in Fall of 1969.
  17. How can they re-tool a plant that is slated to close in 2 months? GM is pretty much set on all the plants that are listed for closure. The Oshwa theory for where the Zetas will be built sounds the most realistic. And thank goodness the Pontiac isn't called "G8'!
  18. Saab is now just re-badges and the "Born from Jets" area huge joke. Hummer should be merged with GMC. 'GMC Hummer H1, 2, 3'.
  19. From 1980-96 GM stuck with creaky platforms {Ciera}, noisy engines, and faulty FWD drivetrains. That caused Olds and the rest to lose customers.
  20. The 70-81 car still has that 70's 'kitch' image, along with Disco and Polyester. And yeah, I know the early ones had hi HP motors. But the biggest selling models were the late 70's cars, with mostly 2 barrel carbed 305's, in Lime green and Orange.
  21. No, a thousand times no, I say! Corvette should be THE only 2 seater Chevrolet sports car.
  22. Buyers do want roomy cars, with the growth of mid sizers into "large" cars, according to EPA ranks. {BTW, Impala is classed as large by EPA too} But, old car fans, don't expect big BOF cars to make a comeback. Zeta, the most likely platform for developing a new large GM car, is unibody.
  23. GM buyers now have to be trained that $4000 off an inflated sticker is just as good as $1000 of a real world sticker price.
  24. Someone who sold lots GM cars to GM employees is no 'master salesman', that's an 'order taker' or clerk. And keeping 15 year old car designs around and 'marketing the hck out of them' never works.
