  1. Well, CAFE has to be 27.5 mpg. And adding V8 and RWD cars witl bring it down. With noises being made to raise it o 40, a 'new RWD Nova' will never fly. The new Camaro is enough. Hot Rodders buy used cars anyway, too.
  2. 2 points I disagree with is the G6 isn't a 'compact'. And the BMW 3 Series isn't 'small'. A 'realistic dream': Full sized, Zeta Grand Prix. Mid sized, Epsilon II G6 with more interior room Compact - [whatever platform works] Vibe wagon and G5 2 door Sporty - GTO, Solstice [keep existing plans]
  3. In the compact class, profits are thin, so don't expect a 1970 GTO Judge.
  4. 'Statesman' is good name, and no legal squabbles. Roadmaster and Park Avenue have same cannotation as Geritol and Depends. Invicta too 1950's, and sounds like name of washed up Glamour queen.
  5. Would like to see: Official Press Release of production decision Announcement of what plant gets these cars Spy photos of test mules JOb 1 dates Pics of cars on tractor trailers Pics of owners picking up thier new Zetas And, good sales figures.
  6. $1000 today is $250 in 1981 money, nothing to even get worked up abput. And so far, no major quality problems with the LX cars.
  7. The 1968-77 A body 4 doors and wagons, and Monte Carlo/GP were 116" wb. Just an FYI, others besides the MC
  8. Hmm, just when is the PT Cruiser going to "die off" as the "experts" predicted will happen "any day now"?? Shows that 'know it alls' know nothing!
  9. Well, the Torrent is doing better than expected. And i actaully know somone insterested in one, and he would not look at the Nox. [at Auto Show]. People were mad that it didn't fit Pontiac's 'muscle car' image. But back in Pontiac's 'hey day', maybe 5+ Catalina Station Wagons and 4 doors sold for every one GTO.
  10. Yep, not impressed at all. Just GM employess getting theire 'cheap car'. If they were not GM owkrers, they wouldn't bother. Id like to see 'Buick Man" try selling in CA or AZ.
  11. As long as there is CAFE, there will be limited numbers of RWD cars. By the late 70's, the Nova was outdated. The 1978 -83 A body Malibu was the same size outside and more room inside. The RWD X body had no where to go but away. Keep dreaming if one thinks GM will switch to "all RWD cars".
  12. Welcome to 4 months ago, when it was a news story. So many people still think the 1970's were "a few years ago", and "everyone remembers them". Like the 22 y/o above he doesn't and couldn't care less.
  13. The luxo coupe market today is tiny, not at all like the glory days of 70s/80s. The Monte Carlo is pretty much it now. Not too many Solaras or Accord 2 doors either. Price gouging hurt the new GTO, at first, and the exchange rate, too.
  14. I didn't realize the new Toyota Tundra's were "economical sharp designs" that get over 30 MPG?? Some idiots still don't know Toyota actaully makes big trucks, and not all of their cars are 'sharp designs for young people'. Camry/Corolla/Avalon sure are not. Also, contrary to popular beleif, they do not ONLY make hybrid powered cars. And, 'hybrid power' is not 100% electricity.
  15. All these big ideas, like "all RWD", would take years to pull off. The products are locked in til 2009 at least. And where would GM get the extra $$$, after paying all the 'legacy costs'?
  16. I think people jumped on the "it looks like a Cavalier" to be part of the "In crowd that worships car rags". Park one next to a Cavi and no it doesn't. It looks like a Grand Prix, so what? The old GTO's were souped up Tempest/LeMans/Ventura cars. Also, old timers were expecting a 'Time machine' to make them young again. Well, hope the next one does better, and that there is a next one!
  17. Are the FWD Impala cop cars still called "9C1"?
  18. Would be nice, but 1969 is almost 40 [37] years ago. Zeta GTO 2 dr and GP 4 dr would be more likely, if GM doesn't run out of $$ with the UAW and all.
  19. It is near imposible to do all that in 2-3 years.
  20. Chrysler got the name when they bought AMC/Jeep, it was in the attic. With Concorde, Eagle, and Spirit.
  21. It is still too early to judge, I think.
  22. Last month, there were dire predictions of doom, then sales results were opposite. Wait for the real data, and then see.
  23. Well, the 2010 model year is 3.5 years away, and the 2009 Auto Shows, which will spotlight '10 models, is 3 years. Just like 10 years ago, when year 2000 still seemed 'so far away'.
  24. And when you buy a USED domestic because, "They $$ when you drive them off the lot".
  25. "Saturn never made money". Well, if the Cavalier was a single division, it also would not have made any $$$$ either!! Saturn has one small car for 9 years, and then the L series was a flop. Cutting a brand costs at least 1 Bill, any Saturn haters want to pay that? Or go to a dealer and say "you must close'
