  1. Caliber is too big to compare to thie others. Again, glad I cancelled the rag.
  2. The last Taurus is to be built on Halloween [10/31] this year.
  3. DCX should chime in and say what about the Challenger? I never waste my $$ on MT tissue paper.
  4. Lucurne is doing well, despite those that claimed losing the PA and LeSabre names would hurt Buick. TO me it was time to ditch names that reminded people of Geritol, Depends, and Preparation H.
  5. Some facts to clear up about old Mopar 'bail out' and Lee I. 1. Chrysler enver declered bankruptcy, only was nearly to that point 2. The US Gov't did not 'hand out' $$$ to Chrysler, they merely 'co-signed' for loan gaurantees, that were paid back in full earlier than planned.
  6. Hughes is already sold off. Chrysler is owned by Daimler, would have to declare under German laws.
  7. ''Sending Nissan and the rest of the cronies back to Asia where they belong.'' Keep dreaming, and keep enjoying your imported computer, home entertainment, clothes, shoes, and GM auto parts.
  8. They made the downsized B and C bodies before 1980, 1977-79. Sure looking back some get misty eyed, but to most car buyers, they are 'old school'. Also, the current Town Car and Marquis don't have tufted pillow seats. The best thing about these cars is the basic solidness, I had a 78 Impala beater in the 80s. But, with CAFE gas mileage the law, they had to cut back. Maybe the Zeta cars will reflect some of the good qualities. No pillowy seats please, but some solid road manners.
  9. It's brand new for XXX's sake Looks like some [who claim to know about cars] still believe the myth that a car is "preserved" if not driven. From somone who knows: "I'll bet all seals in the major components are rotten and it will need major mechanical work to run right. No way this is collectible. " I know of a few instances in my family where a low mile old car was bought thinking of it as "like new". Well, how about valve jobs from dried seals? How about driveshafts breaking from old age? Those $1 million dollar 'never driven' collector cars are never driven for the same reasons! Anyone who buys this, to drive daily, would have to replace many parts that wear with aging.
  10. Less rentals, less of the "rental image". Even if the Impala was pushed, they'd have to dump into fleets to get some higher figures. Look how well that has worked in the past, not.
  11. The 'knuckle draggers' who think that import brands should just be 'outlawed' got to wake up and realize that the good old days of 1972 are never coming back. And no, chrome bumpers, wire wheel covers, floaty ride, and padded vinyl tops are not what 'real Amurricuns' want.
  12. Now, supposedly Ric W called CR and apologzied. Obviously, GM can't rattle their cage, or they will write even worse articles. Looks like CR won after all.
  13. The plant where NA Zeta's are made would have to be retooled like NOW, if "2007 40th Ann. Camaros" were to be built in less than a year. Sure, it would be great if GM could whip up all new cars in days, but still be realistic.
  14. Has MT ever been correct?
  15. Statesman or Electra 225!
  16. Lucernes are doing well in Chicago, seen quite a few. And Lacrosses too. Someone complained that the 'replace 2 for 1' was a flop. No way. Comeon the PA and Regal were selling in the hundreds. Who really misses them other than "hobbyists"?
  17. The unit # would be for all big Chevys, including Impalas.
  18. Buickman would have had GM making the A bodies [Ciera, Century], forever. With fake convertible tops, wire hubcaps, and velor bench seats. Yay, say some of C&G, but why not just bring back hand crank starters and wooden wheels? Meanwhile the Real World couldn't care less about old dated cars. "Marketing" is all the matters? Like buyers are so dumb all they need are huge rebates and free T-shirts?
  19. Alot of that is the 'fiefdoms' who think they are better than the rest of GM, and have to do it 'the Brand X way'. It shows throughout C&G, with the "Pontiac only", and "Buick should get more $$$', and especially "Saturn %&$&". As Mr Lutz says GM is one company, not 'cliques' that think they are solo companies, and want to be #1 and steal other GM division buyers.
  20. Maybe the new Camry's interior was shrunk to sell more Avalons?
  21. Now that GM's new big trucks are coming sooner, will the engineers 'put their pencils down' to get new cars out sooner??
  22. IMHO, in 1993, the A body Cutlass Ciera should have been replaced by a W body "Cutlass". A decontented CS, much like the later W body Century, and it would have sold to loyal elderly buyers, too. Keeping an over 10 year old car that looked as modern as a straw hat turned off younger buyers in the mid 90's, and hurt the image that the Intrique tried to capture. Just like Bunkie Knudson said "Can sell a young man's [person's] car to an older man, but not .[vice versa].
  23. uh, I think it's pretty obvious! PT Sales are up this year, while who has even seen a 2006 'revised' NB? All the naysayers who claimed the PT was "dying" and the HHR was "late to party" and will flop, where are they now???????
  24. Zeta RWD car [statesman], Lucerne [still a big market for FWD large cars], and an Ep2 LaCrosse. No Delta/Cobalt based car at all. Go to Chevy.
  25. The Internet is wayyy more fun to read than the fading Auto Rags. Even Autoextremist says they are on a 'death watch'. They pretty mcuh all say the same drivel for what I call 'casual car fans'. Those that only care about image and media sound bites, and wouldn't know anything about what's under the hood.
