  1. What is "the media" anyway? Just because GM doesn't have 50%+ anymore isn't any one media outlet's fault.
  2. Looks like GM is really reading this website after all. It will take 5 years, so by then can shuffle some lines. Give the Vibe to Chevy, Torrent to GMC, and the Montana is already dead. I do agree that the G6 whould offer FWD as a base model, and then AWD. G5 should die when the Cobalt is updated. {Or only offer higher HP models} By 2011, most P-B-G dealers will be in place, then they can have G6, 'Zeta' Grand Prix, and GTO, along with Solstice.
  3. People here think that the B and C BOF cars are returning, as the car in 98's signature. But no, the Zeta is unibody and any new Buick sedan will not have velour seats, skirts, and coach lights. But it will have port holes though.
  4. Losing Century and Regal was like putting Edsel to rest. Name/logo/whatever changes have been going on over 100 years in the car biz, get used to it.
  5. Saturn is ditching plastic panels, all you dwindling SL hippies. So your whole point is moot. And that dash is a monstrosity. And want a real winter, go to Alsaka. When the last Ion is made, Saturn will be better off.
  6. One thing I know about Caddy fans, those who truly BUY new ones, they proudly call their cars CADILLACS. They don't say "I got a DeVille". Eldo was maby the only name that stood out. Sure DeVille goes back years, but true owners call the cars Caddy. The ones crying maybe drive a 92 Century or a 95 Cutlass and memorize trvial names and models. In fact, Cadillac is back to its true roots of model #'s, as they were when they were an independant car company in the early 1900's. So that is what matters.
  7. Proably not meantt o sell to public as a new car. only as used. And by the way, contrary to what some think, the LX cars are not Body on Frame, and neither were any Mopar RWD cars of 60's, 70's, and 80's.
  8. And Chevy can cover the 'inexpensive compact' market with Aveo and Cobalt. [Also there is Pontiac g5]
  9. " No just put our cheapest ones so we can save 100$ per car. Customers won't see the difference." Customers = Avis, Alamo-National, Budget...
  10. Needs all new platform, newer motors, and 5-6 speed automatics. And portholes too.
  11. Well, if the fleet customers are not money makers, like rental firms, yeah they should. Having more competitors in rental fleets will kill the bad 'rental car' image that the domestics got. Also, will bring down their re-sale. Sure people want to rent a car for pennies, but then someone ends up losing.
  12. Maybe the first couple of model years. But they sure wetre not making $$ on it the past 10 at least, with the huge rebates. And the cheapo equipment, like roll down rear windows, in a car with 'power windows'
  13. Umm, Jerry York is on the GM Board, it is Jerry Flint who made the claim. So, a moderator should correct the mistake on the heading!
  14. This was a feature test to showcase the Big 3. Just like a "Pony Car test" won't have a Nissan Z.
  15. Impala is a 'large car' according to the EPA. One can call it a mid size, but then what is the Malibu?
  16. I'm 90% sure that the Raider is going to the glue factory already. I heard production stopped, and it is pretty much dead.
  17. Plymouth started out as a cheaper Chrysler model [not even its own make] in the 20's. It was never a separate car company. There were never any "Plymouth engines", either. The roots of Mopar are Walter Chrysler and the Dodge Brothers. So, losing Plymoth was not the same as Olds. The egg crate grilles in the 80's and 90s were ugly, and Dodge is a stronger brand name. RIP.
  18. $$ talks, fans should put down deposits for cars, show that there is a business case.
  19. Should make GW drive some of the products he calls 'irrelevant'. And maybe GM should pull his Caddy limo back.
  20. GM refused to sell the Caprice tooling most likely due to product liability laws. Brand X could make new cars, but if their "generic Cop Car "gets hit and blows up, GM gets sued.
  21. Not so fast, GM sold plenty of excrement brown colored cars in the 'Glory Days', too. Penty of Buicks and Olds came in chocolat'
  22. Like it or not, getting 'street cred' is what Buick needs badly. It had it in the 60's with the GS, 70's with the 'Colonnade' [73-77] Regals, and 80's with the Turbo Regals.
  23. IMHO: Thing to fix on the GP: Get an all new car platform, Zeta or comparable!
  24. Well, most of the reviews have panned this 'new Echo'. And this is from so called 'import biased media' too. Looks like another Echo or last gen Celica again, flop-a-roo.
  25. People complain that it's not all new looking enough, but the current car still sells well. Ever heard of 'New Coke'? If something is working, maintain it and change what is necessary. Don't change for the sake of chnage to please those that won't even buy one. The 2001 to 2002 redesign was definitely an example of a needed radical change. Now, not so fast.
