  1. The 300 sold 10 a month, but isn't this car supposed to be what 'everyone wants'? Shows that the 'RWD resurgance' isn't as 'huge' as made out to be.
  2. Ugly numbers? Considering that they are going to replace two volume cars in the next few weeks, they are not so ugly after all. Also, Toytoa used heavy incnetives, no one buys them at sticker anymore.
  3. Sales up from incentives, and if GM did that, it would be 'awful'
  4. Some are thinking that as soon as they are sold, Mopar will switch back to all RWD. Dream on...
  5. Id be willing to bet the W will last longer than 2 more years. Maybe there will be 'classic' versions sold to fleets?
  6. When will they got to GM DW part 1000? "The Plan" would have bombed Mr "I sell buicks to GM employees & retirees so I know it all" I'd like to see you try to sell old A body Centurys as 'new cars' now. Get laughed off the lot.
  7. Maybe there will be a new 'Blues Bros' movie and they can wreck a bunch of Durangos, Commanders, and Aspens!
  8. Those that really remember would know that the '63 GP was the same bodyshell as the Catalina/Bonneville/etc. Some [younger folk] seem to think that the GTO and GP were the only Pontiacs sold in the 60's. Anyway, back on topic! I read in the Chicago Trib that the G8 will be made in Canada with the other Zetas. No word on any Australian imports. "Drive.au" is like Motor Trend, pure speculation. Like the Camaro rumors, believe the news when it comes from GM.
  9. Should prove anything like this with factual information. Hyundai is dumping into fleets. Also, Toyota's 25% is a percentage, look up the actaul increase in raw numbers and compare to GM. People think %'s are absolute. If a maker sold 500 last year and now 1000, they can scream "sales up 100%"!
  10. Oh go cry a river. The Toyota Corolla was RWD until 1983! So, no can't 'blame' them. And not everyone who drives is looking to drag race or 'zoom through the twisties'. GM is to blame if anything, and even then, only die hard primer paint mobile drivers still whine about it.
  11. Cars can have FWD and a 4 cylinder standard and be a 'home run'. But, it remains to be seen for real. 300C was a home run, but mostly in reviews, and it was only the top of the 300 line up. Now it is not really selling as hot its first year. Also, the 300c's 'aura' isn't offsetting all the unsold Dodge/Jeep SUV's. Or the unsold Magnums and Chargers. Heads are going to roll for the 'sales bank', for sure. So much for Chrysler being "the only Detroit makers who gets it"
  12. DCX's #1 'white elephants' are the Durangos. They are smaller than Tahoes, but get worse MPG. I see lots of unsold ones at local Dodge dealers. The Dakota is also a flop. The full sized Ram seems to be fading too, and with new Chevy trucks, will hurt more.
  13. Go back to 1981. Find an issue of Car & Driver that reads "GM's Front-Drive Compacts Blows Everyone Into The Weeds!" Look at the car on the cover and give us a call. 198438[/snapback] It was in spring of 1979, when the "First Car of the 80's" came out. The '80 Citation X11 was on the cover. [None were shown at Auto Shows of the time] There were also details of the other 3 versions. The X cars were great on paper, but we know the rest.
  14. FWD J, X, N, and A bodies are best left in the Auto GraveYard. GM's current Greek Letter cars are world's better. Next someone will be saying the Vega was a great car. Anyway, back to topic. Looks like TTAC and Bu-Boy are way off, GM isn't drowning in unsold inventory [Mopar], or switching leaders every day [Ford]. Hmm, looks like they are doing OK. And this is coming from a harsh GM critic, as you can see in the first paragraph.
  15. Some may have been prizes and the owners didnt want to pay taxes?
  16. This is being overblown. Headlines scream 'merger rumor' and it was just some talks, big deal. Ford ro GM will go with a foriegn partner before hooking up.
  17. Well GM Canada has had rebadged Chevys as Pontiacs forever and ago. Seems that the 'long term image' hasn't hurt it. Had PMD versions of Vega, Chevette, Metro, and Nova. And what is so bad about a nice compact sedan in this day and age? Pontiac is not 'just muscle cars'.
  18. GTO!
  19. Overated: Lexus LS Beemer 3 Honda Ridgeline Prius Dodge Caliber FYI: There is no more Chrysler Voyager. Plymouth is forever dead, DCX is going to C-J-D stores. Buyers may want to get their own rims, so hubcap cars still make sense.
  20. It shows that new product is the key. The saying 'an old car's tooling is paid off, so we should make $$ on them' is a myth. Unsold antiques like Cavalier and Astro cost more $$ to sell then quick selling new models like Cobalt, etc...
  21. First thing? I'd buy out Buickman's dealership and add Pontiac and GMC into it, and hand over to a forward thinking manager. Fire Buickman, and then sue for the copyrights to his screenname
  22. "2. The 900 SUV's have 60 day + supplies and are having production curtailed already. The Pick-ups may be introduced with $3 gas or $4 gas...you're only one Middle-east flair-up from $4 gas. You wanna bank on Mideast stability? See #1 for futher details." The oil companies use any excuse they can to rasie prices. Now that the flare ups of this summer have not turned into WW3. And, there have been no 'devastating' hurricanes. Prices are going down. There has been 'un-peace' in the Mid East forever. But when they threaten to withhold oil, they relent, reliziing they have nothing else! All the "we got to get people out of their cars" and "Kill Detroit" fanatics can keep wringing their hands, its not happening. And I will be glad to see gas prices drop.
  23. It is also to keep it out of other's hands. So that a Chinese car maker can't make a 'new Fiero'.
  24. Motor Trend is 'tabloid' to me. That 'new GP' pic is like 'Jen Aniston looks pregnent' pictures in the rags.
  25. It's not 'pre-assembled'. It is manufactured in Fremont.
