Somebody go through the pinned topics
Sal Collaziano replied to Sal Collaziano's topic in Site News and Feedback
I hear ya. I think it's been a couple of years since this place really thrived with conversation. Just know that at this point in the game, only a good marketing plan attached to a healthy budget will bring success. Gone is the time where you "build it and they will come" on the Internet. Prove me wrong, and I will be as happy as you would be. Let's see where we are in one year from now. Hopefully, not yet another year behind... -
Somebody go through the pinned topics
Sal Collaziano replied to Sal Collaziano's topic in Site News and Feedback
Will anybody step up? Or is C&G doomed to mediocrity for good? This isn't a personal attack and should not be taken that way. Honestly, everyone (?) in charge should be happy us regular members care at all. -

I don't remember getting a rejection to the idea of buying the site. I could be wrong. In any event, it needs funding to be successful. Somebody should step up. -
Somebody go through the pinned topics

I've contacted the owner and admins a few times but more often than not, I don't get replies. I see a lot of potential here but I honestly believe the people who ran this site so well in the past have lost interest. Maybe not all interest, but at least the portion needed for a site to be successful. There are so many things to be done here.... Somebody throw a number at me. If I have the money, I'll buy the site and do what needs to be done to make it competitive again. If I don't have the cash to buy it, than maybe somebody else will. At least give the domain the opportunity to regain its past glory... -
Somebody go through the pinned topics

I remember a time when C&G and GMI were running toe to toe.. It's painfully obvious who dropped the ball.... (I don't get two seconds to edit a post without a notation in my message?) -
http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=26343 This is old news and should no longer be pinned.. There are plenty of other examples. Let's clean this place up. Or sell it to somebody who cares enough to maintain it. Thank you, Sal C.

Someone fix the header....
Sal Collaziano replied to Sal Collaziano's topic in Site News and Feedback
Much better.. Thank you.. -
The header is broken at the top of the screen. I don't have Internet Explorer, but in both Firefox and Safari, it's broken. The header is the "face" of a website. Please fix it...

wierd 'suspended' error page
Sal Collaziano replied to Robert Hall's topic in Site News and Feedback
In case this happens again, there's a way to pause the backup when the CPU is straining.. This is not normal and should not happen. -
When thread views (and other things) are set to update in real time, it's a drain on the server...

I've been driving an '09 DTS for a couple of days, and....
Sal Collaziano replied to Chazman's topic in Cadillac
Hey O.C. Why aren't you selling Cadillacs on my Cadillac site? The massaging seats that come with the DTS are terrible, if you ask me.. Yeah, you can feel the thing working - but it does little, if not nothing at all. Try sitting in a Mercedes S550, BME 750i or Lexus LS460 and you'll see how massaging seats should work. If Cadillac still offers their massaging seats, they should just cancel that option and save their money. Otherwise, the DTS is a great vehicle - and I do hope Cadillac keeps it in the lineup - EVEN if it only gets the 3.6 liter V6. I love the smooth power of the Northstar - but it's not going to be around for very much longer. I wish they'd just go nuts making as many Northstars as possible to use them in the DTS for as long as it lives - but that's not going to happen. Still, I think the DTS will do okay with the powerful V6. I've been driving some pretty expensive cars over the past few years.. However, my DTS (sold) turned more heads than any of them. I REALLY hope Cadillac decides to keep a full-size vehicle in the lineup. -
Toyota gets attacked for worker rights abuses
Sal Collaziano replied to Intrepidation's topic in Toyota
Whatever, whatever, whatever. Toyota sees what GM is going through with the unions - so that's never going to happen. Maybe they'll just pay their workers a little better and take some of the weight off worker's shoulders.. But that's the most that's going to happen. Forget about a union for Toyota. Not going to happen. No matter what. -
Damn, that's a nice car! You sold it? How much? Heck, Clearwater Florida.. That's not far from me.....

How will this car survive a knife fight?

I actually like the Dodge Shadow. My wife had one when I met her and I drove it around once in awhile. It's very comfortable, actually. Surprisingly.. And, they're easy to modify. They can be pretty quick. In fact, the fastest ones back in the 90s were very impressive.. The Shelbys.. Post some pictures...

I don't foresee any Buick convertible at all.. Buick is the new "old" Cadillac. Traditional luxury vehicles. I doubt they're getting an XLR or anything like that any time soon. And a small convertible wouldn't fit for the demographic they'll be selling to.
-
There's too much overlap at GM. They NEED to kill brands. At least one. Pontiac is the obvious choice. Sure, there will be lots of crybabying - but what can you do? Buick needs to stick around because it's doing too well in China to forget about AND the new products are very promising... AND they're "being" exactly what they're supposed to be. Traditional luxury vehicles like Cadillacs used to be. There will ALWAYS be a market for vehicles that OLD people like. OLD people aren't going anywhere. There are more people BECOMING OLD than are dying (as people live longer and longer). Just look at the success of Lexus. Chevrolet? Of course Chevy isn't going anywhere. They can build Pontiacs just as good as Pontiac. Cadillac? They build second rate luxury sports vehicles (besides the CTS, which is first rate). The best built vehicles in America. So they're here to stay. Saab? Believe it or not, they're starting to come around here in the U.S. At least here in South Florida they are. Everybody is buying Saabs around here - especially young people. Here's your import killer brand. Use it. Saturn? Even with nice products, I still don't see anybody buying Saturns. Axe Saturn and Pontiac and use what worked at Chevrolet. The Oldsmobile Aurora absolutely should have moved into another brand under a new name. It was very stupid to entirely get rid of that car. Buick really could have used it. It was FAR better than the Park Avenue. So a nice rebadged Aurora to "Park Avenue" would have sold like crazy. HUMMER? Drop that crappy brand and build a GMC Hummer. GMC? I don't know. Make them a sub-division of Chevrolet and scrap the overlap. The Pontiac G8, the only Pontiac worth talking about, would do just fine as a Chevy.

People don't park XLRs next to anyone else. Anyone who does and takes a close spot at the local CVS is just nuts. Molding or not, cars still sustain damage when stupid people swing their doors opened.

This car is beautiful compared to a Sunfire! I hope it's at least a little roomy inside.. 40mpg is impressive...

I'd kinda like to know who runs the show around here as well.. I have a few questions to ask..

ALTIMA COUPE vs ACCORD COUPE 08
Sal Collaziano replied to regfootball's topic in Site News and Feedback
My choice is the Altima Coupe.. The previous Accord has nicer quality materials inside. This new Altima feels more expensive inside.. I also think the exterior goes to the Altima as well. The Accord Coupe is nice - but the Altima is nicer. All simply my opinions... -
Since when is 420 horsepower and RWD boring?!
-
If this goes into production, which I'm pretty sure it will - we'll see lots of them on the road. How many people are going to consider this a "mini viper"? People used to buy the Ford Escort GT and call it their baby Mustang (sad, I know). So I'm sure it'll happen with this...

Here's another version I just worked on..
-
First it was the really nice Buick being sold in China - and now the STS that should have been - China's SLS.. Has GM ever given any explanation as to why this is happening? Maybe it's payback for us Americans allowing the foreign brands to take over.. Like it was our fault in the first place...
