    Infiniti is dead is it is, what is the difference? And what have Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura and Lexus done? Gotten sales of crossover versions of Escape, Equinox, Rav4, etc. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Cadillac XT3 within 3 years based on the Trailblazer/Encore GX. The Q50/Q60 are basically fleet luxury and lease specials for people that don't want to pay Lexus or BMW prices. The QX80 will never compete with Escalade, Navigator or the big German SUVs there are far superior and the QX-Pathfinder isn't competitive since the Pathfinder isn't any good. Only place Infiniti can compete is in the $30-50k crossover segment, where there are a ton of entries but it is a big space.

    Infiniti’s turn around will come in the form of a badge job Kicks and Rogue. Slap some leather and wood trim and a big touch screen in there with a VC turbo and you have Infiniti QX20 and QX40 that they can sell for $29,900 and $34,900 respectively and they can fleet them out to rental car companies.

    Carlos Ghosn is on his way back to save Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault, he can run all 3 out of a bunker in Lebanon. Turn around expected!

    Nissan and Infiniti can't stop the bleeding. That company is in big trouble because they don't even have new stuff coming or any desirable product. FCA outside of Ram is looking pretty weak too, I imagine PSA will make changes.

    But a hybrid V8 is still a lot of emissions. Something like a Corvette, M5, or an AMG needs a 4 cylinder and 1 or 2 electric motors. Sure for really expensive you could do a V8 but the V8 in a few years is going to be like a V12 of the 2010s, reserved for quarter million dollar cars. AMG does have a plan for a 2 liter turbo 4 hybrid with over 500 hp. And I suspect they could easily get over 500 hp from the inline six if they wanted, and add an electric motor to that. But this is all low volume cars, the key really is to get the mainstream stuff down.

    AMG is not dying, big loud V8s are dying. AMG will always find a way to make performance. I'd trust them more than others given how tough some regulations are because they are committed to "Driving Performance" and have the engineering and racing know now. Keep in mind a Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost emits 122 g/km of CO2 so even that would fail Europe's 2021 standards and lead to fines. So AMG is basically tasked with delivering today's performance at Ford Focus level emissions. And so is everyone else, no Camaro or Corvette in Europe because they can't meet emissions, BMW M5 puts out 245 g/km of CO2, so how do you get that to 100? Of course these are going to be fleet average fines, the quicker Mercedes and flood Europe with EV's the easier it is to save AMG's 6 and 8 cylinder engines, but AMG has already said the current V8 is the last one they will have.

    Climate change is real, regulations are going to come hard to combat it. I am not worried about AMG’s ability to rise to a challenge. Everyone has the same rules to follow.

    RWD hybrid everything, outside of A-class based cars like GLA/GLB. Technically, the E-class, GLE and GLS are hybrids now, plug-ing hybrid AMG GT, GLS, S-class are likely coming. They have stated all 275 AMG Ones will be delivered in 2021. Rumor is the next C63 is going to use a turbo 4 with an electric motor. They will hybrid everything in the short term, post 2030 I think they want to be all electric.

    Do you know what Corolla and Camry sell Because those names have been around for 50 year, people know what they are like Pepsi and Coca-Cola. No one will know what a K5 is or what brand even sells it.

    All the 53’s are mild hybrid now and the V8s starting on 2020 model year are switching over to that. AMG One is hybrid, that is their short term future, full electric is longer term. This effects every one though.

    Sergio was sentimental and sympathetic to Fiat and Alfa, while the Chrysler guys feel the same about Dodge/Chrysler. Tavares has no sentimental feelings to either, so they have to perform or go.

    Agreed on Sergio's dream and I have to imagine some stuff gets consolidated or some factories closed in time. Tavares didn't take dead weight like Opel and Vauxhaul and turn the PSA operation profitable by not making tough decisions and wasting money. 89% of revenue from North America and Europe, and China is the largest market? I imagine they will look to change that and grow in China, maybe another partner coming.

    I imagine the PSA platforms and powertrains will take over, and commoditize the running gear of all the FWD/AWD cars and crossovers. Stuff like Promaster City and any commercial vans will all be one vehicle with multiple badges. Obviously Ram pickup is unique, and the larger Jeeps. The 300/Charger cars could end up on Georgio or a PSA platform or dead, that is basically a 1 market vehicle in a shrinking market, PSA is going to want global product.

    They do have a lot but Mercedes 7 SUVs span $100k compared to the 7 at Hyundai that span $20k in base price. But either way I think it is a method to overwhelm consumers.

    Right it is an Accord V6 with 2 turbos and a hybrid system, it can’t cost $150k to make so they should sell it for less money

    NSX does have turbos and a hybrid drivetrain. I would say it is more advanced than a Corvette, but the NSX is a total rip off as far as price goes. Also doesn't matter if NSX makes money or loses it, I think they should price it at like $90k, even if they lose money on every one sold, they need to push that more as a halo product to promote their brand image which right now is pretty lack luster.

    I bet Acura loses money on the NSX because they sell so few of them. Or maybe after so many years of it on market it will break even as they recoup R&D and tooling costs. With Corvette it seems only the low priced ones will lose money, but I suspect when all the special trim ones come out that cost over $100k they will clean up on those and make a nice profit on them. Much like the $35,000 Tesla Model 3, they probably lose money on that but make money on the $65,000 performance model.

    Cadillac doesn't have a convertible or sports car, doesn't have an performance SUV, doesn't have any thing over $100k, and they moved CT4 and CT5 down market of where ATS and CTS were because ATS and CTS couldn't get German car pricing and I think Cadillac made the correct move there. But Cadillac isn't top tier until they have top tier product, where is the $200,000 Cadillac? "Small volume" is an excuse for poor sales, I am sure GM would love to sell twice as many Cadillacs as they do today, especially if the profit margins are better on Cadillacs than they are on a Chevy or Buick.

    VW has 2 EV’s on sale now and many coming. But I haven’t crapped on GM’s EV efforts. I said Cadillac doesn’t have the image of other luxury brands so they can’t sell on status. I said Cadillac needs really good EV product. I think real names is a good idea but the vehicles have to be really good and arrive soon before the market is flooded.
