  1. 7 different car models with a V8. C-Class, E-class, S-class (CL-Class merging with S-class in 2014), CLS, SLK, SL, SLS. Cadillac has 1, Chevy now has 3. Cadillac needs some more love in the high performance area, or even just mid-range V8 luxury sedan, Hyundai makes more V8 sedans than Cadillac.
  2. Anyone else think it odd that the full size Cadillac sedan has 300 hp and the full size Chevy sedan has 415? The ATS, CTS and XTS all get a 300ish HP V6 where at the V8s? And the CTS-V is hardly a sufficient offering when Mercedes has 7 passenger cars with an available V8.
  3. I don't think they need a manual because few people buy them, and this car isn't going to sell in much volume anyway, if they offered a manual they might sell 300 a year, it isn't worth trying. The styling is really bland and it looks closer to a Buick Regal than any Chevy product. I see it has the same bubble trunk as the Regal, Malibu and Cadillacs, I am hating that and don't know why GM is putting it on every car now. The 2014 Impala looks way better than the SS. The Interior of the SS is okay, looks like the Impala's. Chevy managed to make a car even more boring and with less character than the Hyundai Genesis. The Genesis has 429 hp and an 8-speed though, and probably weighs less.
  4. It looks too short in overall length, gives it a roller skate kind of look. Otherwise I don't mind the look of it, but I haven't seen it in person. Needs more motor though, for $25-35k and calling itself "premium" it shouldn't have the horsepower of a Hyundai Accent.
  5. Engine and transmission are a start, then chassis and suspension improvements are needed, longer wheelbase, better exterior design, more interior room, more refinement, better build quality. Basically make a whole new car.
  6. I'd rather see Cadillac use sharp edge rear ends, the original CTS and the XLR had good tail end design, far better than this current crop of cars they are coming out with. Imagine the original CTS back end with more expensive looking LED tail lights with red/clear/amber. Just look at how good the back end of a 2004 CTS-V looks even with old school bulb taillights.
  7. Fuel economy is a small factor, the Malibu doesn't sell because it isn't any good. The Malibu could get 50 mpg and the Camry will outsell it.
  8. The problem with designing it to fit multiple brands is it doesn't look like it came from any one brand. It is just too generic looking. Does look a bit more Buick than Chevy though, it doesn't have an American looking design, it looks like a blend of Opel and Asian.
  9. Those price cuts won't be enough to move more cars. The segment is too competitive and the Malibu is not up to the task. There are several problems, one the car doesn't stand out. The 2013 Fusion or the 2011 Sonata when it came out had "Wow" styling that grabbed a ton of attention, this allows them to bring in new buyers, plus they both have full hybrids and Hyundai/Kia launched with best in class base fuel economy and their 2.0T crushed the V6s on fuel economy. So those cars made a big splash and got recognized. Second problem, the Camry and Accord are both new designs, and both have bullet-proof reputations. Like it or not, people will buy Camry and Accords just because of the name and their mind can't be changed. So some % of buyers will never give a domestic car a chance. Third problem, the Passat dropped in price, there is a new Altima, new Mazda 6. There is more competition than ever, and I feel like the 2008 Malibu was at least competitive when it came out, but this 2013 car launched already way behind the pack. This car is struggling now, imagine 5 years from now when it is still on the market how dated it will be, better get the fleet sales ready.
  10. The ATS looks a little bland to me, they could have done a more upscale grille, and I don't like the ATS trunk with the bubble, bangle butt thing. It looks worse on the next CTS. The ATS has good proportions though, the current CTS has a high belt line and looks chunky on the back half. The ATS looks good from the side, but I think could be better from the front and behind.
  11. The '75 Seville looks better than that CTS, maybe they should bring that back instead. I can't find one good thing about the back end of the CTS. The Bangle-era 7-series survived with a bad back end, but it was also established in it's class and at that time few strong competitors to bring it down. The CTS is not established in the $50-70,000 price class and there are several strong competitors there already. I had high hopes for the new CTS, and from the front it showed promise as the grille looks sharp (although not a fan of the headlights), but the back end ruined it for me.
  12. Agreed with ZL-1, they need an ATS coupe and a convertible would be nice since Infiniti, Lexus, Audi and BMW have on in that segment. I also don't like the new CTS rear end, it looks worse than the XTS and poorly proportioned and like it was designed for 80 year olds. The front grille of the new CTS looks awesome, but that back end is terrible.
  13. The exterior is bland and looks like too many other cars. Sort of looks like a Chrysler, looks like a Hyundai from the back. The styling just doesn't give it any character or personality, it is as if they designed it to just blend in and be forgotten about.
  14. I love the diesel engine, I just think they have it priced too high. A Passat TDI has a base of $26,225. If GM had a Verano or Malibu diesel for $26,200 I'd think it was a good deal, I think north of $26,000 is just too much for a Cruze.
  15. I thought it might top 42 mpg, but that is what the Jetta is rated at, and diesels usually meet or beat the epa rating, where as gas engines tend to fall short. I bet this diesel beats the Cruze eco in real driving, plus you get over 100 lb-ft more with the diesel, the diesel is an awesome engine for the Cruze. I don't like the price however, over $26k with destination charge for a Cruze is too much. The Jetta TDI is $23k and VW has a better brand image than Chevy. Sadly I think the Cruze diesel will need rebates of $3k to sell, which will make GM not want to make more diesel cars.
  16. Although how many cars did Cadillac, Lincoln, Infiniti, Acura, and Lexus sell in Germany last year? Or in Europe all together? The German luxury makes may have fleet sales, but at least they have sales.
  17. Agreed on the VAT, it adds about 20% to the price of a car.
  18. The Bentley SUV looks terrible and is a bad idea. It is about as stupid as a Rolls Royce SUV or a Ferrari SUV.
  19. Not sure where the $13,000 comes from as the only manufacturer offered deal on an S-class is a $1,099 a month 30 month lease with $6,000 due at signing. According to KBB.com there are no incentives on the S400 Hybrid and a 2.49% financing offer on the S550. Truecar.com has the average S550 sale price at $87,491, BMW 750 at $75,833, and Audi A8 4.0 at $77,448. The S-class sells at a price premium over all competitors and still outsells them al despite being in it's 7th model year. What excites me about the diesel A8 though, is a diesel A6 with maybe 1-2 mpg more will probably follow. And then Mercedes will look to up the fuel economy on the E350 Bluetec and S350 Bluetec. Then BMW follows, then Cadillac when the LTS comes out knows they need over 400 lb-ft and 36 mpg. I like the competition and how these huge luxury sedans can get better mileage than a 4-cylinder Camry.
  20. That's pretty awesome fuel economy for a huge car. Heck, that beats a lot of family sedans with 180 hp 4-bangers. I hope the next-generation S-class can match that mpg figure.

    MKZ commercial

It isn't bad aside from showing a 90s Town Car. Why remind people that you used to build what is now a joke. The Lincoln Super Bowl commercial is really bad, hopefully this MKZ bombs and we can just close up shop on Lincoln and be done with it.
  22. Looks like an 80a car, I also was thinking Chrysler Corp. But perhaps an Eagle product like a Talon
  23. Speaking of flying, just think how much better flying would be if planes were designed by AMG. You'd get there in half the time and in extreme comfort.
  24. There should be an Alpha platform SUV, since the GLK and X3 are rear drive. That would make a better small crossover from a driving standpoint. Making a midsize FWD suv for $35k though sells to the sheeple.
  25. Nice, the V6 was the correct choice. Always buy the big motor.
