  1. A good way to boost Alfa Romeo sales would be to include a free Mercedes or BMW with the purchase of every new Alfa.
  2. As far as the Continental goes, if they want it to sell they should price it about $42,000 for the base V6 model, and $49,995 for the fully loaded twin turbo V6. I think so few people want a Lincoln sedan, that it could be nicer than an MKX and cost $10,000 less and still not sell.
  3. I think the 2nd tier luxury brands need to worry. Hyundai can offer a pretty temping value proposition in any segment. When you look at where Elantra and Sonata were 10 years ago to now, they made big gains. With a dedicated luxury brand, with rear drive platforms, a 3.3 liter turbo V6, a big V8, 8-speed transmission, they have the hardware to easily outshine Lincoln or Acura and give Infiniti and Cadillac a run for their money. Even the Lexus sedans haven't had any significant powertrain improvements since 2007, the RX and ES keep that brand alive.
  4. I think most diesels beat the highway estimate also. But for comparison reasons, you have to compare the EPA sticker. The Grand Cherokee could probably beat it's number just as easily as a Colorado could. $3,700 seems like a big price premium though, that might slow down the take rate.
  5. But it is a crossover, so it is the best thing evarrrrr!
  6. How much cargo do these CUV owners haul? Most of the time you see 1 person in the car, empty cargo area. I think it is ride height and some perceived level of safety, coupled with image of if you drive an SUV you are more successful than a sedan driver.
  7. Pretty good, would have been nice if the 4wd model hit 30 mpg highway. The Grand Cherokee diesel is 30 mpg highway with a V6, I would have thought the Colorado might be like 30 mpg with 4wd and 33 in rear drive. But still better than the gas engines.
  8. I still think they need their own unique look. The grille is Audi-like, the tail lights are like an S-class. The concept looks pretty good, but I think they'd be better off making something that stands out, rather than blends in.
  9. I read the Lexus RX can go 100,000 miles between oil changes or tire replacement and that the hybrid model's exhaust saves baby seals. True Story.
  10. But if Cadillac wants to go upscale and push their performance luxury attributes they need to leave the hearses and vinyl carriage roof Devilles behind. And if GM wants to make Buick more premium and not just a slightly nicer Chevy, let them have Cadillac's old market. And back to XT5, I assume they are going after Lincoln MKX and Lexus RX here and not the Germans. Which it would be nice if Cadillac could decide who they are targeting. The ATS and CTS want to copy BMW, the SUVs Lincoln, and the CT6 the Kia K900 I guess. Johan needs to get a plan going.
  11. Well then they'll get crap service, but it will be free with the gift card. So the quality will match what they paid. They do, I never have seen on on the road. But I think it gets over 40 mpg. They have had it a few years, but they seem to only advertise the TDI.
  12. I've seen XTS hearses, I saw one today actually. Glad they are getting out of that business. A hearse or Limo doesn't need acceleration, or handling her performance, which is what Cadillac sedans are supposed to be about. Let Buick serve that market.
  13. A pretty good deal, you can use the $1,000 total in life cards on maintenance at the VW dealer. Gives the customer a free year or two of service, keeps the dealership service bays busy. So that is a win-win. Give VW a chance to kiss ass of all these customers so they don't flee to another brand, even though they probably will.
  14. Crossover buyers don't care about performance, luxury sedan buyers often do. Plus there is a refinement issue that a V6 will in most cases be smoother than a turbo 4, and refinement should trump all in a car like the CT6. XTS is here for 4 years still?!?! I do think Buick should introduce a livery version of the LaCrosse and make the XTS $54,000 base price (make and standard), so the V6 XTS is priced more closely to the V6 CT6 and CTS. This way if the Livery market still wants to buy a Cadillac, they will pay through the nose for it and Cadillac will make huge margins, while slowly forcing the livery market to Buick.
  15. An RX 350 starts at $41,900, so what do we think the SRX will be? $40,995? Still not sure why the XT5 and XTS get standard V6 power, while Cadillac tries to peddle 4-cylinder power in the CTS and CT6. Why not just make every Cadillac standard V6 then.
  16. A convertible SUV is pretty much pointless, but it is unique and sometimes people like to buy cars that are pointless an unique. The Murano convertible tanked, but I think this will do better than that did.
  17. I wonder what the price will be. On dimensions it is the size of a GLE, so I wonder if they are going for X5 and GLE competitor, and planning a smaller XT3 for GLC, X3, Q5 competitor. Base V6 for the crossover, turbo 4 for the full size sedan, yeah that makes sense. Although maybe with Cadillac pricing strategy the XT5 will be $54,000 base since that is what a CTS V6 costs.
  18. Not everything needs a V8, but a full size Cadillac needs one. For 90 years Cadillac was know for having V8s. A full size, rear drive V8 is classic American sedan, and in a good way, not like the Town Car. BMW has gone soft, they want to make carbon fiber boxes with batteries, and I am all for electric cars. I think Teslas are amazing with how much power and torque they produce. BMW i3, not so impressive and I have driven the i3. BMW also makes the best six cylinder engine on the planet, but that engine in their 4,500 lb overweight SUVs and 7-series isn't quite as good as it is in a 3,500 lb car. Mercedes makes the most powerful production 4-cylinder. Yet you don't see them putting that in any of the mid-range products because they know what luxury buyers want. I do think Mercedes has taken a long time rolling out the 9-speed, but GLC and GLS, CLS, S-class convertible and coupe have it so it is working through the line up finally.
  19. I forgot the Veracruz even existed. If you told me all 9 of those vehicles were discontinued I would believe it, and probably most are still in production.
  20. Oddly enough, Hyundai builds as many V8 sedans as Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti and Cadillac combined. They should put some a turbo or supercharger on the Tau V8, they need a V8 sports coupe for sure. It would be neat if they did a crossover off the Genesis sedan platform, rather than trying to dress up a Santa Fe. But then again the Lexus RX is a dressed up Highlander and people think Christ jumped off the cross to build it.
  21. 0-60 time isn't the top priority of the S-class, luxury is first and foremost with that car. Cadillac chose to promote the CT6 as a driver's car, and not an isolation tank like the S-class is. If they are going to tout how sporty it is, they shouldn't have a 4-cylinder in there. The CT6 doesn't even compete with the S-class anyway, the top end CT6 is $10,000 below the cheapest S-class, and most of the public won't even know what a CT6 is, they'll think it is a CTS V6 or CTS long wheelbase or something. Drew, you have one good point in look at what Cadillac can do with a 4-cylinder. They could have a sub 6 second 0-60 time. So imagine how much better the car would be with a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 making 500 hp. I'd be fine with the 3.6 V6 standard. The SRX has a standard V6, but the flagship (for now) has a 4-cylinder? Doesn't make sense.
  22. Then I will compare luxury car to luxury car. Cadillac from 1915 up until 2010 used a V8 in the mid to full size cars (Seville, Deville, Eldorado, etc). Granted by 2010 the 320 hp Northstar was past it's prime, the 290 hp FWD Northstar was way past it's prime, but they never replaced it. They just left the Northstar to die on the vine, and now we have a 2.0 turbo as the volume Cadillac engine. Sad. And I will add that I am not happy Mercedes dropped the E550 sedan either. You can still get a V8 in the E-class coupe and convertible, it is still in the CLS, but they don't make a V8 E-class sedan right now, unless you go to the AMG model. The new straight six is coming and with electric turbos should have plenty of power, but I still hope they bring back the E550 sedan. Thumbs up to Mercedes for using a V8 in the C63, but thumbs down for no E550 sedan.
  23. An ATS 2.0T does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, and that is a 3,400 lb car. I would think the CT6 comes in around 6 seconds when the magazine tests come out. Regardless, I'd say the CT6 2.0T is more Genesis V8 competitor, which is 5.2 seconds 0-60. The Equus, K900 and LS460 are slow. Lexus's V8 is from 2007, that thing is way over due for an enhancement. And there is more to it than just 0-60 time anyway, there is engine refinement and smoothness. A V8 is going to be smoother and more refined than a 4-cylinder and a V8 is going to sound better under full throttle than a 4-cylinder, a V8 will have a better exhaust note. The same arguments hold true for the Corvette, why isn't a 3.6 turbo V6 in the Corvette, and scrap the V8? Both would yield the same 0-60 time, but you want V8 noise, V8 exhaust note, that V8 smoothness, and it fits the car, Corvette is know for having a V8. Cadillac was the pioneer of the V8 back in 1915, a V8 fits their products. The S550 is also the slow S-class, they do make an S63 that does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds for those that want it.
  24. I think this is a good idea and they'll be able to compete with the 2nd their luxury brands. Splitting off into the Genesis brand will make the cars more appealing and make them stand out from Hyundai. Horrible naming scheme though, G70, G80, G90? That is boring and just copies Infiniti, which is boring as it is.
  25. I don't think offering a V8 in a full size Cadillac is a big ask. LS460, Equus, K900, Panamera, XJ, 7-series, S-class, etc all offer a V8. And if the CT6 has the lowest weight then great, they'll be lighter and have a V8. Chevy has 6 models with a V8, Cadillac has 2 and one of those is because it is mechanically a Chevy truck.
