  1. Additions SUVs are needed for a brand that only has 2 or 3. Mercedes is about to have 6 and 2 of those have a coupe variant on top of that, plus they make a station wagon. I think they are covered. I for a couple years have said they should have a V6 Sclass (although inline six would be better that the Euro model has) because the A8, 7-series and XJ has 6 cylinder models are are like $20,000 cheaper than the S-class. And that is probably the only way those cars sell, with the V6 S-class they can take away whatever sales the 7-series and A8 have left.
  2. Yep, that is enough for a GLC or Q5 or X3 with 1 option package.
  3. I think it makes sense to move it. Years ago, like in the 60s or 70s when auto makers showed the new models in this show, and then production units always hit dealers in the fall, it kind of made sense. But now new vehicles hit dealers at all times of the year. And buyers don't have to go to the big Auto shows in winter/spring to figure out what they will buy in summer/fall. They can see it all on the internet and do all the research.
  4. Jaguar’s worst nightmare with this car is this, which actually looks like an SUV and does impressive drifting
  5. They have a new GLA, GLB, GLE, GLS coming for 2019, that is 4 new SUVs. Problem solved. S-class got a refresh and a new V6 model at $89k to boost sales.
  6. C&G statement of the year! I agree on the iPace design, it looks like the roof is to squashed and the back window too sloped. So it doesn't have that crossover shape people want. Price is still the key, I think $60k range is where they need to start because a GLC43 Coupe and X4 M40i are $60k to start with similar size and performance, a Macan GTS is $68k. If Jaguar goes $75-90k they are over shooting the market.
  7. 3 out of 5 and look at Ford sales. The GLE and GLS are in their final model year, they have been around 7 years now, so some drop could be expected, the new ones will fix that and the GLC was on fire. But all the GLC gains seem to be at the loss of the C-class so was there some special on GLC's last month or something? This is their Best ever February, even with some SUVs down, the E-class and S-class are proving people still buy sedans, and the big margin SL, G-wagen and AMG GT are all up, so I think this is a good month.
  8. The exterior shape is a bit stubby, something seems off like it doesn’t look like their other SUVs, but the inside looks quite nice. The powertrain and performance specs look very impressive. Question is what will it cost?
  9. My last oil change might have been $127, I would have to look, but I don't have Costco, but I would still need to buy 10 quarts and a 5 Quart jug is $38.99 at Auto Zone (Advance is $37.99 but has it $10 off right now), so I need 2 of those and a Mobile 1 filter for $19.99,then tax and disposal fees, and I am over $100. If the dealer is $130 I think that is worth paying them.
  10. Buick sedans did well, but Impala lost about 4,000 sales. Cadillac sedans maybe have found a bottom and leveled off now. The Chevy SUVs and Acadia did well, while Ford struggled, but the F150 is beating the Silverado/Sierra pretty easily. I think Bolt overtaking Volt is interesting because it shows people would take an EV over a plug-in hybrid sort of car when looking at similar price and the same brand.
  11. Ford SUV sales down 12% when SUVs are what sell is a bit shocking, not shocked to see some of the cars slide. Lincoln is a disaster, those dressed up Fords aren't cutting it. Continental doesn't surprise me at all, they sold about 1,000 a month when it was new, and now people that wanted one got one, I wouldn't be surprised if they sold 500-600 a month next year.
  12. You could always buy 8 quarts of Mobile One at Autozone and change the oil, it isn’t being a Mercedes that makes the oil change expensive it is the $8 or $9 per quart Mobile One. i thought we were looking at around $10,000 and the Volt, Cruze, Verano andRegal of the 2011-2013 era came up.
  13. I think they sold over 200,000 of these in China last year.
  14. Right so the depreciation is over, and we were just talking about $40,000 Volts from 2012 that are now $11,000, this is the same thing. And every pre 2013 car is out of warranty now. This checks a lot of boxes, fits the size and price range, and has AWD for the New York winters and is better built and more solid feeling than a Cruze.
  15. I pay like $140 for oil changes at the dealer (I'd have to dig up my last bill to get the exact amount) and the V8 takes 9.5 quarts, the V6 isn't as much. And it lasts 13,000 miles, although I never go over 10,000.
  16. I think we can end this right now with a trip to Ohio. Auto Trader C300
  17. Looks like a strong contender for 2nd best German midsize sedan. Diesel engine? You aren't going to catch any fish with that bait, I imagine that is Europe only. And I would think the 2.0 TSFI engine will be standard in Europe, USA and China, they sell a ton of these in China. I am curious what kind of gas mileage they get with the 48 volt system.
  18. Volt doesn’t make sense if you aren’t charging it, might as well get a Cruze or Verano at that point. I still like a Subaru Legacy that can handle the NY winters with all wheel drive for this scenario. 2011 era Regals are pretty cheap too. Maybe a Fusion.
  19. Diesel? You aren’t going to catch any fish with that bait. That I bet is Europe only, they sell tons of these in China so I imagine the 2.0T will be used here and there. I am curious about the gas mileage of these 48 volt cars.
  20. I came across a 2013 33k mile Verano for under $11,000. Cheap ones are out there. Toyota unreliable? They and Lexus have pretty much been the gold standard of reliability for the past 25 years. I don’t care for their styling or lack of performance cars but I would put Toyota reliability over anyone.
  21. Could be that the big motor just won't mesh well with the smaller battery and in most cases, people that buy the upgraded engine on a car, buy the ungraded interior trim too, so probably most people that want the 200 hp will want the big battery and the leather interior, etc. I can charge a car in my garage, so range I don't care about. I'd like an EV if I had the money to get a good one.
  22. I would imagine about half of 200's on the market began life as a rental car, and I don't trust FCA reliability, the Volt is a decent idea unless the battery needs replaced. Buick Veranos are around the $10,000 mark that could be a good way to go. 2011 era Regals and LaCrosse are down there too, but those are bigger cars. A wild card idea is a Pontiac Vibe, I think 2009 was the last year, but they are under 10k and they have the Toyota Camry 2.4 liter engine so they will run forever.
  23. Even if the 200 hp motor eats up the smaller battery and you get 140 miles of range vs 180 miles, some people wouldn't care. This whole range concept is kind of odd since no one goes to buy a Camry and asks how many miles can I drive it before it needs gas.
  24. Why is a sports car brand making a diesel anyway? Give it up and move on.
