  1. A Suburban is not a 3-box design. The Cadillac counter to this would be a 4 seat Escalade with a 63 Corvette inspired split rear window glass behind the 2nd row seats and a small trunk behind that.
  2. The interior is very nice and they can put a fine china tea service with heated trays in any car. Some of this is just stuff to put in a Maybach S-class or GLS for the Chinese market because that is where Maybach sells. I think there is a chance that they make a 3 box design SUV just to be different because when you look a Bentley Bentayga it has the shape of a Q7, the Escalade has the shape of a Tahoe, etc. This is unique and the Uber rich like having what no one else has.
  3. I read in addition to the Defender, Land Rover wants to add 3 more vehicles, so a pickup could be one. They make 4 or 5 Range Rovers, they could make 3 Defenders and 3 Discoveries and Freelander is supposed to come back.
  4. Hyundai definitely needs to build this, I said that when the concept first came out. I am sure it won't look like the concept but they need a pickup. And I think a unibody design that has the same towing and weight hauling ability of a Santa Fe is fine, because for a lot of people that is all they need. I also think there are people that may want a pick up (and possibly a lot of females) but don't want something so truck like and high off the ground or with a 10,000 lb tow rating since they will never tow. The current pick up trucks are almost the SUV equivalent of the 3-row SUV, well not everyone needs a 3-row or can afford it, so all these small SUVs exploded onto the market. Small pickups can make a rise too, and I mean smaller than a Colorado or Tacoma.
  5. I don't think they will build this, but I did get a 1930s vibe from it when I first saw it. They are going to do a Maybach trim of the GLS. If they do a standalone Maybach model, no way will it look like this.
  6. I am on board with the front half of this but I have no idea why an s-class coupe trunk is on an SUV. Mercedes needs to pass on this body style. However, if they built this, at least 5 other car makers will build an SUV with a trunk to copy this.
  7. Why don’t the use a turbo V6? Oooorrrrr, wait for it....... inline turbo 6 with electric assist. That would be much more refined and quiet.
  8. Exactly. This is a fancy Enclave/Traverse, with the corporate 3.6 V6 and transmission. I don't see them doing anything exciting here, at most an optional turbo on the V6, but Lincoln already does that, and to quote Kurt Angle "who did they ever beat, where are their gold medals?"
  9. Looks like a Toyota, which is another way of saying, it looks ugly.
  10. I think just Formula 1 now and next year they are doing Formula E. I think they gave up all the touring car racing stuff to focus on EV racing. But Formula 1 is the #1 Motorsport globally so that is where to be.
  11. I bet they could put leather seats in the back of a Unimog and pass it off as some sort of luxury wilderness exploration vehicle and sell them for $500k here as a Rolls Royce SUV competitor.
  12. It is actually Mercedes has the best racing team Mercedes is the standard everyone is chasing Sales figures are everything and Mercedes is #1 in luxury sales
  13. Not a fan of that grill still. Looking like the LS is good since you could sort of confuse the 2 and think this car costs more than it does. But to me it is still a Toyota Avalon with an ugly grille. I guess it would stand out which is a plus, compared to the forgettable styling of early 2000s Lexuses.
  14. I have not, the most expensive Escalade costs less than the a base model G-wagen. The G65 was like $250,000 in it's final edition. It is ridiculous to compare them on price. I know, I just brought it up because the CTS is now bigger than the STS was when it was here, and a complaint on the STS was it was too big, too heavy, not sporty enough to take on the smaller, more nimble Germans. And Cadillac killed the STS, only to make the same car 4 years later, but with the name of their entry level car. Horrible product planning. That would be like killing the Malibu, only to make the Cruze a mid-size Camry/Accord fighter for $25,000 in 2022 and then wondering why it doesn't sell.
  15. Very good point, is he good or a corporate Yes man that will push the GM agenda and we get big discounts to move old metal. I imagine the XT7 will be out as fast as they can put Cadillac badges on an Enclave.
  16. Because the G-wagon is a mid size SUV it has the same length as an XT5. It isn’t suppose to be a full size SUV.
  17. If Johan didn’t come up with the naming scheme they need to fire whoever did.
  18. No need for Cadillac to worry, when the Maybach SUV goes on sale next year Lincoln will be giving $10,000 off on all Navigators with 0% financing.
  19. There is size creep in all segments, but the CTS is larger than a 5-series. The CTS-V is 197.6 inches long that is bigger than the STS. The 3-series sedan is 184.5 inches long, it also doesn't have a sales problem like the CTS has.
  20. Looks like GM fired him, but did him a solid by not saying he was fired just that he is leaving to pursue other interests to make it seem like Johan's choice to leave. I have said from the beginning that this guy was not the answer, Audi has done better since he left, Infiniti did better since he left, Infiniti's QX40, QX50, QX60 name scheme is just as stupid as Cadillac's XT4, XT5, XT6. This guy is clueless, and was lucky to be a market president of Audi when Audi got their act together at the home base, it wasn't like he was in charge of product planning, he just had to sell what Germany gave him. As far as Cadillac goes, I think the problem they have is every few years there is new management and they blow it up and start over. It is like the Cleveland Browns of the car world.
  21. Dealers are already selling out of their Urus allotments and the thing doesn’t even arrive for 6 months. It will be their best seller for sure. The CTS thing is exactly my point, the CTS should have stayed a 3-Series fighter and they should have had a new product above it. Same with Escalade, it should stay at its current price and a new SUV should go above it.
  22. Could be, I think they will build it but the cost will be high and sales will be low and it will be a one and done.
  23. Car and Driver claims the mid engine Corvette will have a 5.5 liter DOHC flat plane crank V8 that revs to 9,000 rpm with 600 hp as an option. They do want to copy a Ferrari 488 it seems.
  24. They'll top 1,000 Urus's easy, I think Lambo will double their worldwide volume of 3,500 units, Urus will easily be their top selling model. Ferrari is going to make an SUV too, Bentley has one. The Escalade needs a $10k price cut to compete with Navigator, but they are going to magically raise the price $20,000 for the new one? That is in effect $30k more than the current sale price. I don't see it happening, they tried to push the CTS up 20% in price and sales collapsed. I think a model better than Escalade is needed, leave the Escalade where it is. But if they want to make a base Escalade $125,000 with a $200,000 V-sport to go against the G-wagen bring it on. And good for Cadillac if they do it, if you can take a Tahoe and charge and extra $70k then take the money and run.
  25. Not going to happen. The ZR1 is about 600 lbs heavier than the AMG and that is before you putt batteries and electric motors in. The Bolt's battery pack is 960 lbs, even with 1/3 of it you are talking 320 lbs of battery. They would need to take 1,000 lbs of weight out of a current Corvette to get the weight in check before adding Secondly, the Corvette has road car suspension (finally dumping the leaf springs for coils in the mid-engine model), not Formula 1 car suspension. And the AMG can generate 500 lbs more downforce than a 2019 Corvette ZR1with the huge rear wing. And the AMG has active aero and DRS because it doesn't have a fixed rear wing. Thirdly, even with the new 5.5 liter DOHC flat plane crank V8 with turbos the horsepower is about the same as the AMG 1.6 liter V6. And the Bolt's EV motor spins at a max 8,810 rpm, the AMG electric motor spins at 50,000 rpm, so Chevy has some EV motor work to do.
