  1. I am sure the GLE and X5 are more than up to the task. Just as the GLS at the end of the life cycle outclasses, out performance and outsells the Navigator. And the X7 will outsell the Navigator too.
  2. So what will it cost?
  3. So, Mustang GT and Aviator GT? I do give credit to Lincoln for trying here, with a rear drive chassis, big power and torque. This shows the guts that Cadillac, Acura and Lexus lack. Question is what will a Aviator GT cost? We've seen Kia or Hyundai/Genesis try tho sell an expensive vehicle, and no one showed up to buy it.
  4. But will Lincoln get it right?
  5. I thought the previous Mazda 3 had the best interior in segment, this looks even better. And I think the Mazda 6 has the best interior in the next segment up. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to cars. I hope everyone that used to buy a Ford, Chevy or FCA sedan heads over to Mazda because they have good product.
  6. I think it looks good from the back and side, although something about the front seems a bit off to me. It almost reminds me of a Kia. The inside looks nice in pictures, I wonder how the actual materials and build quality are. I also wonder how it will drive, because I feel like all these Lincolns at the end of the day are a Ford underneath and Fords don't drive very well.
  7. The R and Pro models should have more power, I don't know why they limit torque to 516, when this car could be 600 hp and 627 lb-ft like the S63, unless there is crazy wheel spin, but I think they could up the torque on those top models. It is cool though that they have a near race version of the car for the track enthusiasts. 7:04 Nurburgring time on the Pro, but maybe it could break the 7 minute barrier with more torque!
  8. So Mercedes should sell the Unimog here? It has 8 forward gears and 8 reverse gears, what's this HD truck have, 6 forward, 1 reverse?
  9. Same way Tesla has stolen a ton of business away from the luxury sedan market. If Rivian can build that truck and not have a 1 year back log of orders and the production problems Tesla had, then I think they would do well.
  10. If Rivian can get off the ground they will steal a lot of pick up truck sales for sure. It is hard for a start up in the auto industry though. Really Toyota should just buy Rivian out and use that truck design with their manufacturing capability.
  11. Tesla needs to get into the pickup truck game and put these people in their place. I feel like the full size truck market, which is rather large, is just ignored by a lot of other companies.
  12. I think this will do well. It looks better than a Traverse or Pilot or Explorer, appears to have a better interior and Hyundai usually prices pretty aggressive plus a big warranty. This will have a lot of appeal.
  13. That's really ugly, and why is the hood so tall?
  14. They should put the V8 in the CT4-V. No holding back, if you have it, then use it. GM should also make an inline six and kill all these V6's because any over 300 hp vehicle should be sending power to the rear wheels, and any sedan or crossover at Buick or Chevy can use a 4-cylinder/turbo/electric combo powertrain like Volvo does on their line, so no need for a transverse V6. Also XT5 and XT6 should switch to Omega and get the V8. This is the V8's last hurrah before electric takes over, I say V8 all things.
  15. A Volt SUV would be $40k base, look at what other SUV’s cost. Most car makers don’t care about the entry level, they want to sell high margin SUV’s only. Then they can cut the workforce that builds the cheap cars and save even more money.
  16. MB should scrap the SLC. The only other low sellers globally are the SL and AMG GT and those aren’t going anywhere. They have to do something with the SL to improve sales which is hard when 2 seat convertibles have very low demand.
  17. The A8 with V6 mild hybrid is about 900k to 1.2 million Yuan in China. It looks like China only has the turbo 4 and the 3 liter V6 CT6 for China, which do run much cheaper than the A8 in the 400-800k range. But the A8 is a better car also. I feel like the CT6 will exit the American market, unless they import Chinese made ones, but maybe they cancel it over there too. I suspect GM made a decent amount of investment on CT6 because it was a new platform, that 3.0 V6 is only used there also, this 4.2 V8 is only there for now. This isn't a good economies of scale car, they could be losing money on it, and even if it turns a small profit, I can see GM just scraping it.
  18. They were up this month, down 6% for the year, but still the #1 selling luxury car. E-class up 9% is a good sign, maybe some people do still want sedans. Dated GLE/GLS that are probably out of production hurt there, the new GLE isn't at dealers yet. Look at the G-wagen!!!
  19. I imagine most Audi’s sold in China are 2 or 3 liter. Their V8 does come in under 4 liters to avoid that top tax rate. But I bet the great majority of A8’s are V6 in China
  20. I don’t know why GM decided on a 4.2 liter V8 when China has a displacement tax threshold at 4.0 liters, unless they don’t plan on selling this engine in China, then it doesn’t matter.
  21. The same reason that Rolls-Royce or Bentley don’t do that, they are the brand. “Cadillac” should be the hot brand people want. That is GM’s fault for trashing the brand image over the past 30 years.
  22. They might, Mercedes is building a new factory to make the S-class am EV’s while the current factory will continue making other models. But I think GLE’s from Alabama go back to Germany and people buy them.
  23. I think they should have 2 tubes of this V8 and put it in everything they can. If the XT5 and XT6 were not front drive then it could have been there too. I would put this in the ATS replacement too. Cadillac needs something to stir up some excitement. They have other issues too but an exclusive V8 would help.
  24. The majority of segments are dominated by 3-4 players. Full size pickup you have the Detroit 3, mid-size pickup, Toyota, Nissan, GM, minivan Toyota, Honda, FCA, luxury car is Lexus and the Germans, etc. If you aren’t one of the top players in a segment it is hard for an automaker to justify staying there. That is why GM and Ford don’t make minivans, FCA has very few sedans, Ford will have no sedans, etc. Mid size sedan, small and mid-size crossover has enough volume that 8-10 brands can play in that sandbox, but in other segments you better win or you won’t last. That is why Ford made cuts, GM is making these cuts and someday GM will realize that they don’t need 3 luxury SUV brands when Buick and Cadillac quit making sedans and one of those brands will get cut.
