  1. Cadillac needs to spend their efforts on the interior, both in materials and technology such as a voice command assistant and autonomous tech. All wheel drive should fix the traction and handling issue, although they might want to look into a mild hybrid system or some sort of electrification for the 2020s.
  2. $35-40k ??? They are nuts. The appeal of the Miata is it being a low cost sort of no frills roadster. $40k puts it in too high a price tier.
  3. I wonder how much they will charge for beefed up suspension, knobby tires (that will be crap on road) and some body cladding? And who is going off roading in a RAV4? But if they can sell a couple thousand of these option packages a month it is probably a pretty easy profit grab. The 2.5 liter 4 in this makes 40 more horsepower than the 2.7 liter in the Tacoma. Why isn’t this engine in the Tacoma? Does Toyota not know what engines they have in house?
  4. The outside badly looks different but Subaru has a pretty loyal following so they probably don’t want to make any big changes. The interior almost looks Cadillac XT5 like which I think will be very competitive in this segment. I like the turbo option too out of the gate. Mazda dragged their feet on that.
  5. Those engines and transmission are ooooold. How about an update Toyota, like using the 2 liter turbo from Lexus or the 310 hp V6 you already make.
  6. Only if they make a CX-10 Grand Crossover coupe with 3 rows of seats, RX-8 style suicide doors and luxurious appointments. ?
  7. Should have used the 640 hp/ 630 lb-ft supercharged 6.2 V8 they already have on the shelf, much better than a new 6.6 liter with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft.
  8. It is nice that the price has dropped, these were selling like crazy before the price cut, so I expect they will continue to sell fast. I think this shows too that EV costs will drop over time.
  9. Mercedes Trucks do have a 155,000 mile powertrain warranty, a bit longer than what you get a Chevy or Ford, and Unimog has to hit the Euro VI emissions standards too, which probably play a role in engine tuning. But we are comparing commercial truck to retail/personal use truck here. The Merceds Actros has 3,000 lb-ft of torque, granted it is a 15.6 liter engine, but Mercedes has no problem making torque out of their engines. Daimler is also the #1 commercial truck seller on this side of the pond too, they know trucks better than anyone. Daimler invented the truck after all:
  10. Diesel. My point is Ford made a new engine that will likely be weaker and thirstier than if they Ecoboosted the 5.0 V8. They spent more money for a worse engine, makes no sense. Unless the specs of this V8 are amazing which I doubt since they didn’t release them.
  11. Because they are turbocharged. Which is why Ford could have turbocharged their 5.0 V8 and had a better engine and saved development cost.
  12. Even a torque monster should put up big numbers. The Mercedes V12 is a torque monster and that makes over 100 hp per liter and was doing that 10 years ago. And a high rev engine should be more in the 200 hp per liter range. I bet this engine also makes peak torque at 3400 rpm, too high for a puller.
  13. I get the feeling that the 7.3 liter V8 will put out about 50 more hp and torque than the 3.5 liter V6 in the Navigator. I think it sad if any engine isn’t over 100 hp per liter so that V8 better make at least 730 hp and 730 lb-ft.
  14. Me either. Why not just twin turbo the 5.0 V8 they already have? I don’t get why they still isn’t an ecoboost V8. And it can’t be fear of turbo in a pick up because the F150 is mostly turbo and the diesel in the heavy duty is turbo. I also thought that V10 died in 2010 that engine was old 10 years ago.
  15. Good for them to put some excitement and performance into a crossover. 340 would be more horsepower than any Acura, Cadillac or Infiniti crossover I believe, since those 3 brands feel like a 310 hp V6 is MAX power for a crossover.
  16. They probably couldn’t sell all 999 at the price they wanted and this would have been a money loser. The end must be near if an SUV coupe isn’t the hottest thing...
  17. The subscription service only works with autonomous cars that can drive themselves to another subscriber when you aren’t using it. Then you split the cost of that car up among 4 or 5 subscribers and it becomes much cheaper to do that than own a car.
  18. Cheap crossover = many, many sales units. Americans love crossovers and they love Wal-Mart pricing.
  19. Batteries will get better and so will the charge network. If there was a better charge network people wouldn't think they need 250-300 miles of range, which adds cost for a lot of battery you aren't using. 0% of buyers buy a gas powered car based on mileage range, because gas stations are all over the place. If there is more electric charging stations, people would probably be happy with 150-200 mile range electrics which would help get cost down. Also "electrified" could mean a hybrid Sierra. And really, why wouldn't you do some form of hybrid on every gas engine you have? Adding electric to any engine makes it better.
  20. Is the Land Cruiser better than a Yukon or Expedition or Navigator? If not, then time for Toyota to make an update. The G-wagen didn't really have completion other than maybe a top end Range Rover for all those years, and people still bought it over the Range Rover.
  21. Hey now, if Ghosn is found not guilty there is a job opening for him!
  22. It is not a matter of IF it is a matter of WHEN. One day batteries will be cheap, that is how technology works. I think one day an electric will cost the same as a similar horsepower gas car. We just don’t know when that day is.
  23. It looks better than the Silverado, but GM styling has been coming up with a lot of misses lately. Silverado doesn't look good, XT6 is pretty forgettable. I am not a truck person at all, but I think Ford and Ram have better trucks than GM right now, and probably 10-15 years ago I would have said GM has the best trucks.
  24. But Toyota leaves a lot of stuff out to rot on the vine, the Tacoma and Tundra had 10+ year model runs, ditto for 4Runner, Lexus GX, Lexus LX, etc. And also, G-wagen sales rose consistently from 2009 through 2017, the older it got the better it sold, LOL. Mercedes constantly put out other new product, with the G-wagen they were building what those buyers demanded.
