  1. Don’t hate on me, hate on Cadillac for not building a better car. A maxed out CT6 is cheaper than a base model S560. The S560 can go over $150,000 with options and that is before you get into AMG or Maybach. 7-series can go over $190k for a 760. Cadillac isn’t alone, the Lexus interiors trail behind any of the Germans too and the GS F is slow and the LS has no engine upgrade. They are just as bad and uncompetitive. I seem to remember a Motor Trend comparison of a CT6 and an E-class and they knocked the CT6 interior, if it can’t beat an E-class it is no S or 7. Plus there are people for who a 400 hp V6 isn’t enough, CT6 stops at a level some won’t even consider, they fixed that with the V8 for the 2019, but even still you can’t get a refrigerator in a CT6, you can’t get Level 3 Autonomy like an A8 has, 7-series has hand gesture controls, etc.
  2. If the CT6 interior was as good as a German car, and it costs $30k less, why do the 7-series and S-class outsell it here and even by wider margin in China? I have sat in a CT6 it was at the auto show probably a mid grade one, but it is not as nice as a 5-series let alone a 7. CT6 interior should be what Cadillac has in mind for the CT4 and work up from there.
  3. I would prefer that if it had a shorter hood and a pick up bed like a 6x6 G-wagen. That is just impractical.
  4. Lexus has an F-sport package on the RX and it is the same thing, a lame wheel and badge package. Call it appearance package or something, because it adds no sportiness. Although most actual sports cars or performance cars don't put "spot" in the name, that is more reserved for family sedans or Ford Edges.
  5. Yeah, this is a lame trim level/option package.
  6. I agree, too much dark gray and black in the performance trim interiors on any brand. The E53 actually has more interior color choices than the E63, which doesn’t make a lot of sense.
  7. You need both. The CT6 interior is about A6 or C-class level, CT5 needs to be a level above the CT6 interior to have a chance. An E63 or M5 or RS7 has an interior better than the standard car plus performance.
  8. I watched the Autoline After Hours when Sandy Munro was a guest and he went over the tear down of the Model 3. Yes the build quality as far as panel gaps and things is not up to par for what it should be, but he said the electronics in the Tesla are light years ahead of what any other car has. He said how no other automaker is even close on the electronics/software/hardware/batteries, so that has to count for something.
  9. The Tesla haters that can only crap on them for range are just afraid or jealous that Tesla makes a better car than many of the gas options. Every car has some sort of compromise, I don't hear people saying the Corvette or 911 sucks due to not enough trunk space or back seat room. Or F150 owners complaining that it gets 17 mpg, or people bashing the Prius because it is slow. All these vehicles have a flaw. The Model 3 has range limitation yes, it has a plain interior, but it also has positive attributes too, like technology and performance. You have to compare what you get in a Model 3 vs an ATS, Q60, C-class or other similar priced car.
  10. Cadillac needs to spend their efforts on the interior, both in materials and technology such as a voice command assistant and autonomous tech. All wheel drive should fix the traction and handling issue, although they might want to look into a mild hybrid system or some sort of electrification for the 2020s.
  11. $35-40k ??? They are nuts. The appeal of the Miata is it being a low cost sort of no frills roadster. $40k puts it in too high a price tier.
  12. I wonder how much they will charge for beefed up suspension, knobby tires (that will be crap on road) and some body cladding? And who is going off roading in a RAV4? But if they can sell a couple thousand of these option packages a month it is probably a pretty easy profit grab. The 2.5 liter 4 in this makes 40 more horsepower than the 2.7 liter in the Tacoma. Why isn’t this engine in the Tacoma? Does Toyota not know what engines they have in house?
  13. The outside badly looks different but Subaru has a pretty loyal following so they probably don’t want to make any big changes. The interior almost looks Cadillac XT5 like which I think will be very competitive in this segment. I like the turbo option too out of the gate. Mazda dragged their feet on that.
  14. Those engines and transmission are ooooold. How about an update Toyota, like using the 2 liter turbo from Lexus or the 310 hp V6 you already make.
  15. Only if they make a CX-10 Grand Crossover coupe with 3 rows of seats, RX-8 style suicide doors and luxurious appointments. ?
  16. Should have used the 640 hp/ 630 lb-ft supercharged 6.2 V8 they already have on the shelf, much better than a new 6.6 liter with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft.
  17. It is nice that the price has dropped, these were selling like crazy before the price cut, so I expect they will continue to sell fast. I think this shows too that EV costs will drop over time.
  18. Mercedes Trucks do have a 155,000 mile powertrain warranty, a bit longer than what you get a Chevy or Ford, and Unimog has to hit the Euro VI emissions standards too, which probably play a role in engine tuning. But we are comparing commercial truck to retail/personal use truck here. The Merceds Actros has 3,000 lb-ft of torque, granted it is a 15.6 liter engine, but Mercedes has no problem making torque out of their engines. Daimler is also the #1 commercial truck seller on this side of the pond too, they know trucks better than anyone. Daimler invented the truck after all:
  19. Diesel. My point is Ford made a new engine that will likely be weaker and thirstier than if they Ecoboosted the 5.0 V8. They spent more money for a worse engine, makes no sense. Unless the specs of this V8 are amazing which I doubt since they didn’t release them.
  20. Because they are turbocharged. Which is why Ford could have turbocharged their 5.0 V8 and had a better engine and saved development cost.
  21. Even a torque monster should put up big numbers. The Mercedes V12 is a torque monster and that makes over 100 hp per liter and was doing that 10 years ago. And a high rev engine should be more in the 200 hp per liter range. I bet this engine also makes peak torque at 3400 rpm, too high for a puller.
  22. I get the feeling that the 7.3 liter V8 will put out about 50 more hp and torque than the 3.5 liter V6 in the Navigator. I think it sad if any engine isn’t over 100 hp per liter so that V8 better make at least 730 hp and 730 lb-ft.
  23. Me either. Why not just twin turbo the 5.0 V8 they already have? I don’t get why they still isn’t an ecoboost V8. And it can’t be fear of turbo in a pick up because the F150 is mostly turbo and the diesel in the heavy duty is turbo. I also thought that V10 died in 2010 that engine was old 10 years ago.
  24. Good for them to put some excitement and performance into a crossover. 340 would be more horsepower than any Acura, Cadillac or Infiniti crossover I believe, since those 3 brands feel like a 310 hp V6 is MAX power for a crossover.
