  1. Compare an XT6 and a BMW X5, there is nothing the Cadillac wins on. Not styling, not interior, not technology, not performance, nothing. The BMW is better and that is probably the worst interior out of Q7 and GLE. Cadillac interiors are all plastic below the elbow level and the shoe center is plastic and faux leather wrap to cover up whatever GMC Acadia parts are under it.
  2. You can say all that but an A6 or E-class is nicer than an Escalade, so if Cadillac wants to compete with those Germans, they better step their interior game up. This isn't new, it has been going on for 20 years and it is largely why Cadillac is where they are, and why Audi, BMW and Mercedes are where they are.
  3. The same thing that makes RWD sedans better, makes RWD SUV's better. 2.0L base is fine, the Q7 and GLE do that as do others, Cadillac didn't, but that V6 is weak as hell compared to a German 6. So I agree there needs to be a TT V6 option on XT5 and XT6. The Volvo XC90 has a pretty good interior, I don't think German level, but the XT6 appears to be more Acura MDX level of an interior, not even Volvo level, but I am only judging off pictures, I haven't been in an XT6 although I have been in all the others I mentioned. The Volvo looks better than the XT6, the XT6 isn't a good looking vehicle, I think a lot of praise for the Volvo comes from the looks.
  4. An Audi Q7 starts at $53,550, granted with a turbo 4, but it is a much nicer vehicle than the XT6. XT6 is $6k cheaper than an X5, but again, X5 is a much nicer vehicle. The Acura MDX starts at $45k, I feel like that should have been Cadillac's target with this.
  5. I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but Buick could be the crossover coupe brand, while GMC is the traditional crossover brand. Then each can build 4 crossovers that are the same, except for a sloped rear roofline on the Buicks. Seems like an idea the braintrusts that run most auto companies would come up with. These companies are so crossover obsessed, pretty soon they will segment crossovers out 9 ways like how GM did it with W-bodies in the 80s.
  6. Right, think of an airport off site parking shuttle company that runs an Econoline or Transit van/bus 50,000 miles a year or more at 10-15 mpg. Then compare to what an electric van would cost to operate. There are loads of applications for an electric van. As far as muscle cars go that was brought up, this has 1,900 hp, and I don't think an V8s are going to touch this Pinanfirina: Electric is the future.
  7. So will a Volvo Polestar model not have a speed limiter, but a regular S60 or XC90 have a limiter? That is total hypocrisy .
  8. China has massive pollution problems, it is only a matter of time before they ban gas engine vehicles in certain cities to control that. China is Mercedes 2nd largest market after the EU (who might also ban ICE vehicles in some places come 2030), so they are getting ready.
  9. This new Sonata looks amazing inside and out. Total home run here. The styling is great, and it isn't just some rip off of other peoples styling cues like a lot of past Hyundai/Genesis cars have done. Yes it looks a bit like an Arteon, but it looks way better in my opinion, VW's mostly look bland, even when they try to be bold. Interior of the new Sonata looks best in class. The 2011 Sonata was a game changer when it came out, it was a standout in the marketplace, then the current generation really dropped the ball and looked like a bland rental car, this is a total 180 from that, well done to Hyundai here. This to me looks like the best car under $40k and I bet it starts under $25k. Keep in mind the Sonata is probably $10k less than an Arteon, VW is screwed.
  10. So "saving lives" only matters on gas powered cars and not EV's? I think Volvo probably did some study that their buyers don't really care about performance anyway, and buy capping speed at 112 mph they can save some money by not having to fit cars with Z or W rated tires and they could save about $40 per car. But Polestar can't compete with Tesla and the Germans with a bunch of nanny devices restricting performance, thus to have any chance to sell Polestars they have to push the performance of them. This is basically like GM saying all cars except Corvette, Camaro and V-series Cadillacs will have speed limited to 112 mph because of safety. But the Corvette can can go 200 mph because safety doesn't matter on performance cars. You can't pick and choose.
  11. A V6 should be making in the 350 hp range now, that would be a lot for this car and push the price even higher. VW's V6 makes 276 hp, 8 more than the 4-cylinder. Since their V6 sucks, I think that is why the 4-cylinder is here. Plus I imagine VW wants to steer people wanting V6 power into an Audi to make more profit. Estimated base price of those car is $35-40,000, VW is insane. Correct, the Phaeton was a very well engineered car, but so was an A8, S-class, 7-series, Lexus LS, etc. They are all top end cars and only one of them said Volkswagen on it. Likewise with the Toureg, those sold really low because it cost as much as or more than a BMW X5 or Mercedes ML at the time they brought it out.
  12. It is front drive 4-cylinder car, it doesn’t need a V6 or rear drive it needs a lower price. People aren’t paying big money for a VW as proven by Phaeton and the CC had low sales too. Also the 2020 Sonata looks like a better version of this, in tax the Sonata puts the Arteon to shame, VW better have discounts ready to roll when the Sonata goes on sale.
  13. This sounds like a good powertrain. And well over the 100 hp per liter standard. That little 1.3 has some punch.
  14. It has some style to it but aren’t these like $40k? I feel like they will over price themselves like Kia did with the Stinger.
  15. Exactly, bad news when the banks flee London for Germany.
  16. Yet another crossover coupe vehicle. Problem is all these companies already have 3-4 SUVs, so now they have to make crossover coupe vehicles because there is nothing left as they kill all regular coupes and sedans. Plus once BMW and Mercedes did it, the other 30 brands needed to copy that idea.
  17. Not only should the UK kill Brexit, they should drop the Pound and join the Euro. Whoever thought this isolationist strategy was a good idea was horribly mistaken. All these companies can just go into the EU where they don't have to worry about the currency fluctuations and trade deals, etc.
  18. Pontiac thinks that is too much body cladding. I imagine the regular Crosstrek will be pretty tamed down, Subaru doesn't really make bold vehicles, they play it pretty safe.
  19. Looks nice, almost Bugatti looking headlights. The SUVs just keep on coming, although Alfa has so few cars, they need more product.
  20. I suspect Amazon, FedEX, UPS, etc will love these for city delivery purposes, especially in California, or European cities that frown upon gas burners in their urban areas.
  21. I like how the Model S looks. Polestar doesn't just have to worry about Tesla, they also have to worry about Audi and Mercedes. And I imagine most buyers will want one of the German luxury EV's over a Chinese made Polestar. We've seen how brands like Genesis and Alfa Romeo snuggle to get going, and Alfa is an old brand.
  22. I like the current Volvo styling, but I am not a big fan of this. The Teslas look better, they are on sale now, no need to wait and Tesla has way more brand cache than Polestar that anyone that isn't an automotive geek probably never heard of.
  23. I bet it starts under $40k, the more nicely equipped ones will be $50k, but you can spend $50k on a Chevy Blazer, or easily $50k on an Acura or Lincoln SUV, and this is a Tesla. They will sell loads of these.
