  1. They should make an I-6 gas in a final death blow to the 3.6 V6. Anything front drive can get enough power from a 4-cylinder especially with electric boost as an option. So if 6 cylinder is only in rear drive then it should be inline. Side note, they should put the in-line 6 in the Tahoe also.
  2. They should kill that brand . Daimler has better places to spend money.
  3. Moblie One (0W-40 I believe). Changed once a year, I have a 10,000 mile interval and don't drive that much a year generally. I have never had to add any oil in between changed either.
  4. I was thinking 3 liter turbo as the base in CT6. Turbo 4 base in CT5, and turbo 6 optional.
  5. They should drop the 3.6 also. I imagine this 237 hp unit will be the volume engine of the CT5.
  6. Detuning the 4 cylinder for fuel economy, in a luxury car that is $60k doesn't make any sense. Maybe it would make sense if there was some great NVH improvement, but 7.5 seconds is slow. Granted the old folks in Florida taking it to Cracker Barrel won't care, and there is a more powerful engine for people that do care. It just seems like more bizarre GM decision making, that isn't based on customer demand, but rather supplier issues, manufacturing costs, parts bin inventory, bean counters, etc.
  7. Cadillac issues aside, GM probably doesn’t have any transverse mounted engine with over 300lb-ft other than the soon to be dead XTS V-sport. So if they made one 9-speed transverse mount transmission it could be used in everything from a Sonic to a Traverse . Better economies of scale that way. Then in rear drive maybe you have a couple torque ratings for a regular duty and the high torque outputs.
  8. One day the Chinese will own both these companies anyway.
  9. Seems like a typical GM move, and why Cadillac is where they are. I don't see why they don't make a better FWD transmission that can handle over 300 lb/ft with 8-9 gears or whatever they deem they need.
  10. They do, and I had to look it up, VW owns 52% of Porsche.
  11. They make a lot of revenue and have volume off those SUVs, but the 911 has some crazy profit margins, so I don't think Porsche would have been dead, just small. Also remember Porsche owns 30% of the shares of Volkswagen. Owning 1/3 of maybe the world's largest automaker gives Porsche some money.
  12. If you wanted a "more athletic" Cayenne, you could just get a 911.
  13. Great info and research on that. The science explains their thinking.
  14. AMG gives you more power. This is one of the better looking crossover coupes. It seems that there is no end in sight to crossover coupes or calling every thing with 4 doors a coupe.
  15. The C-class has air suspension as an option, V6 or V8 as an option and you can get it with or without the driver nanny controls and the materials are the best in that segment and better than a lot of cars in the next segment up. Not sure what else they could do in that segment.
  16. The CLA, C-class and SL are all between 182.5 and 184.5 inches long, if you rear seat room is the need then get theC-class.
  17. Oh good, because there aren’t enough 4 door coupes on the market. What BMW should do next is make Grand Saloon versions of all their 2 door coupes .
  18. I believe there will be more consolation in the auto industry, there are just too many brands really and too many companies. Like airlines, pharmacies or banks, all these things merge and consolidate. Good news is Carlos Ghosn is out of jail and can be hired at CEO of the new PSA/FCA then lead a takeover effort of Renault/Nissan.
  19. The C-class is closer in size to the ATS. The A-class is 179 inches long. If CT4 is smaller than the ATS, then they are going to have to go under 180 inches in length, and still have the same interior dimensions of the current ATS with shrinking the exterior, seems like a tall order for GM design. I don't think the CT5 will be a C-class competitor, nor do I think CT4 will be smaller than the ATS. And it probably doesn't matter because there is almost no market demand for Cadillac sedans. Maybe in China there is some demand, but not much in the USA, and zero in Europe or other parts of the world. Probably what they should do is price the CT5 at $39,995 and play the value leader game. It is their only hope.
  20. But that seems to have been fixed. the A-class sedan has 41.8 inches of legroom in front and 33.9 inches in the rear. ATS sedan has 42.5 inches in front and 33.5 in the rear. So the ATS's total legroom is .3 inches more than the A-class which is smaller. I don't think the ATS is too small necessarily, but most Cadillac buyers aren't looking for a car that small. But the ATS has other issues other than size that stopped it from selling.
  21. Which A3/A-class size cars don't have a lot of volume to begin with, those are mostly in existence for Europe. Cadillac buyers think the ATS is small, I don't know why they would go smaller, at a time when sedans are not in demand.
  22. I have heard that was the plan. We really need to see some dimensions of this car to know how it is sized, in and out. At least with real specs which I imagine will come in April then maybe we know what they are going for. I get they hold off on pricing until the fall though.
  23. Oddly enough, Car and Driver is stating the CT5 is a 3-series/C-class competitor, although it looks way bigger than those cars. C-class pricing of a CT5 is probably a good idea for Cadillac to pursue though.
  24. Maybe Cadillac should copy that.
