  1. Thanks for the input? I do moms. Send her over.
  2. If I were in the market, which I'm not, and were shopping for a Pontiac, which I'm not, I voted 'other' because of Hyundai and their Genesis coupe. This wouldn't change in the case that Pontiac doesn't disappear, however, as they do not have a similar offering. Otherwise... Ford, Mini, Mazda, Honda, and VW are likely to find me in one of their showrooms in the event of this hypothetical situation.
  3. Technically, Azithromycin is not limited to just one manufacturer. It's generic made available by many.
  4. Can I interest you in a Cutlass? Old, 4k miles per year, previously granny owned... and cheap!
  5. Hah... I suppose. The seats aren't terrible, just lacking in some support. My lower back doesn't agree with them. As Z said, there is no such selection. I wouldn't say the cars I've owned to compare it to were sports car by any means. I'm only averaging 2 mpg better than I did with my Jetta. It had much more usable gearing and even felt more lively in most situations. This transmission just needs to downshift more willingly and it wouldn't be such a issue. Usually, when you start up a hill, press the accelerator, and start to lose speed, a transmission will promptly downshift. Such is not the case and it becomes a constant nuisance having to counter more than a dozen hills on your daily route.
  6. It was only a 5-spd at first. It... transitioned.
  7. I've been holding out hope that it grows on me to a point where I'm not so indifferent about it. I honestly thought that this was a vehicle where GM got its act together with, to most degrees. Such inadequacies, to me, are disappointing. Especially in the case of that transmission. It's nothing more than the typical 4-speed slushbox, however... It befits a '90s Buick. It's so lethargic. It's the biggest detriment to this car. The rest of it is really quite decent. It's not terribly exciting or soul inspiring, but it works and works well. To note, I haven't actually driven a good automatic since the Millenia.
  8. Looking good. Certainly more exciting than a friggin' Cobalt.
  9. 1,145 mile update. The transmission is an absolute dog. It's horrible. Gaps in gearing the size of the grand canyon, a completely reluctancy to downshift, morbid response to throttle changes and a completely poor use of the engine's power range. Seriously, it is the worst transmission to use on a daily basis in hilly northwestern PA. It will bog down 10 mph before it will downshift, even after increasing the throttle to 50% or so. Around 70%, it will finally be forced to kick down a gear and once it does, it's a vast difference. Third gear is a much happier place for the engine. In fact, the Cobalt's third ratio is pretty much spot on for the Jetta's fourth ratio. It might be geared just a bit higher, but not by much. As such, once it's in fourth, there is no power. It's the definition of an overdrive ratio. The problem: It's stubborn, it will stay in that ratio until the variables that affect it are vastly different, making it utterly useless. Unless you're living in Kansas with the sharpest slope you travel rising a single foot for every mile, that is. The seats, I've found to not be that comfortable. They're not horrible, but they lack support, especially for the lower torso. Course, I'm used to seats that aren't designed to somewhat accommodate large, overweight Americans and frankly, VW knows it's seats. I also wish there were more of a natural lumbar support. Adjustable or not, it needs one as the seat back feels flat. After longer drives, my mid-lower back tends to take all the strain of the trip. Also, one odd thing I noticed is that only the passenger has a quick-flip lever for raising the seat back to enter into the back. Otherwise, there's not much to add that hasn't already been spoken of. The squeaks, random other rattles and whatnot are still there and I've yet to have the bushings taken care of. One of these days when I actually have the time... In conclusion, it's still a Cobalt.
  10. However many pages later... It's still ugly. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out every time I look at it. When is the last time someone called the Aztek beautiful?
  11. I like the big wheels... but not the car attached to them.
  12. Mmmm, yes. Subaru ruined another. I used to like them.
  13. It's hard not to see the Civic resemblance and I would agree with Siegen as far as comparing the two go. However, that's not to say it looks bad. It looks fairly nice. There are just a few design issues that effect the overall vibe it gives off. Certain cues could have been executed better. In contrast, the Civic, while somewhat frumpy, is a consistent design in coupe form. The sedan is another story.
  14. I'm pleasantly surprised. It's classy and muscular with a very nice interior. It's basically what they last one should have been. Looks like a perfect evolution of the WJ.
  15. In the end, you'll be happier with a Cobalt/G5. The fact that it gets better gas mileage with more usable power and better driving dynamics... It's a no brainer. The Aveo/G3 is just a $h!ty Daewoo.
  16. I've driven a first gen Vibe to NYC and back in the past and it wasn't all that bad. It was just entirely gutless and the automatic seemed overly eager to downshift if you were on the brakes. It felt weird to me. It's been a while, but I'd say it's on par with my Cobalt otherwise. I'd say the braking issue with the Matrix you drove wasn't relative to all Vibes/Matrix's.
  17. Alot of dashboard pieces, regardless of the vehicle, have clips that you almost have to guess as to where they are and in which way to pry. Dash vents generally just pop out. I disassembled the Jetta's interior entirely, down to carpet and metal... without damaging anything.
  18. It used the new Type 3 platform, debuting in 1961 Indeed. There are a few similarities to be seen.
  19. I hadn't known about them until I looked into more commonly known type 14 Karman Ghia's. These type 34's weren't actually sold in the U.S. They estimate there's about 2000 left with 400 or so being in the U.S.
  20. I would avoid the Daewoo at all costs. No cheap shots, it's just a piss-poor vehicle and that has piss-poor crash results and gets piss-poor gas mileage, especially compared to the bigger Delta cars.
  21. I spent it working and sleeping. *aims finger at temple, shoots*
  22. Pfft. I could barely contain all the enthusiasm I felt... Any more and, oh boy, my voice might have changed pitch by a hair.
  23. I keep seeing friggin' Thunderbirds. The retro ones. I've also seen EXCITEMENT!!!!!!! in all its glory. As well as the new Insight. Certainly beats the hell out of a Prius, style wise.
  24. Sweet. Congrats on the Firebird.
