  1. I've had the urge for a second, beater-type car (that also happens to be a VW) for the last month or so. I've entertained the idea of something outside of VW, but generally haven't been as enthusiastic about the idea.
  2. I have been. My intent was to keep the mileage off it to prevent such issues, which I presume to be from wear and tear. As I've in the past, I have no idea how the very limited wear and tear has had such an extreme impact on parts that should last much longer, but I digress. This is me planning ahead.
  3. Did I say that?
  4. Stop whoring yourself out, you whore.
  5. I would say I'm leaning against them at the moment. The main factor, as Croc pursued, is that its not going to be my vehicle for a long period of time.

    Damnit.

So, I must rant. In the local trade book was a listing for a 1982 VW Rabbit for $600. I thought to myself "Hmm, intriguing." I decide to call the guy up for more information and set up a meet for tomorrow. A few hours later, he calls me back and asks if I'd like to look at it tonight. Sure, why not... I go on my merry little way over to check it out. It had 68k original miles, the interior was pretty much immaculate, and the exterior was fairly decent without any rust whatsoever. I'm thinking "What's the catch? It must not run very well." The guy starts up for me. Runs pretty damn good... its even inspected. Then, another guy shows up on a bike. They've either met previously or they know each other. Not long after, this other guy says to me? "Are you still interested?" I say yes. "I guess he didn't tell you I was first in line." Nope. Right after, they talk about when they're going to the notary. Why would you even tell me to come over if you had a planned sale already? I drove out of my way to look at this car only to have it sold right out from under me. I had no real need for this car, but I certainly wanted it. It could have made a good little run-about vehicle to keep the miles from racking up on the Cobalt since each additional thousand miles seem to procure more issues. Regardless, it irks me that I made a trip out to see a sold vehicle that I was under the impression of still being available.
  7. That is the question. Clicky. Depending on his reserve, I could potentially get a set for somewhat cheap (atleast compared to the cost of a single wheel). I mainly just need to consider if I would rather find an aftermarket set I like better and a pay a few hundred more. That, and MK3's happen to have the same bolt pattern and offset. With my desires to return to a VW, an aftermarket set could easily with switched to another vehicle. I'm not sure if a Jetta could rock Chevy wheels. Decisions, decisions...
  8. Congrats, Sir. Although... that Lumina... it's pretty sexy.
  9. I've gotten probably $200 so far. I haven't sold much, though, I've just disassembled the whole thing. Most of the parts are sitting in the garage or in my den.
  10. 21st. Back to the Jetta, this how it sits as of now:
  11. Strangely, the display still read 39.1 upon returning home. That's after going up through the mountains, over the highest point on I-80 this side of the Mississippi... a total of 360 miles overall.
  12. I'm not a Premium subscriber, but I don't see what all the commotion is about. They're opening it to those who wish to participate via contacting an admin. Is it really a big deal having those few forums a little less exclusive?
  13. Officially home. A few notables: An F350 spun out and wrecked a few seconds ahead of me, causing a huge cloud of dust and a clusterf@#k. I saw so many cars for sale... mostly newer ones, including an Acadia. As well, I saw many that were sharing the highways with me. A new Legacy (It's just as ugly in person), a dozen MK3's (I think they're trying to tell me something), a ton of Miatas, an old Triumph, and yet another old Crosley. The final thing to note... I somehow managed to average this on the trip down. I wish it would average that more often. I'm usually down in the 28-31 range.
  14. I just exchanged the trunklid... now for the drive back.
  15. He lives in CT, he's just visiting relatives near Philly for the weekend. We've waited a month, as it is.
  16. I was just thinking how this is the wrong weekend to be in the area.
  17. I'll be in the Harrisburg/Carlisle area that afternoon, meeting up with someone to sell a part. Is there anything going on that I can make the trip more than just driving down 3 hours, then turning around to drive back another 3 hours. I plan on being there around 6 pm. If nothing else, I'd be willing to meet up with someone in the area.
  18. I seen a few Equinox's while I was in Detriot. They look good on the outside.
  19. Hmm... I have some Jetta seats that need lovin'. I may have to steal your design, WMJ.
  20. It's like a Viata... Viper + Miata.
  21. As with Satty, never had Driver's Ed. I think my school did away with the program a few years before it was my time. I don't remember having the option. I, however, took my test in my Grandma's '00 Malibu.
  22. 3rd and 6th are great.
