  1. That's distracting, even for me. I keep staring...

    F**K.

I took a quick look at the left side rotor and pads. The outside looks decent... the inside is all f**ked up. I couldnt see much, if any of the pad, and the rotor looks like only half the pad had been contacting the rotor.

It never dipped below 40 degrees F here. I've heard about N-bodies and their ability to eat brakes. I was hoping something had changed since then. Obviously not.

Wow! I never would have guessed. Thanks! I simply find it odd that it happened so suddenly. As mentioned, they hadn't even squealed up this point. A little roughness had developed recently, but nothing that made me believe I'd lose my brakes in a matter of maybe an hour. I'm also amazed that the factory brakes were only able to make it to 37k.

It had rained yesterday, though I couldn't specifically tell you whether I hit any puddles just prior to them crapping out.

The brakes have never squealed. They were quiet and in working order up until last night.
  7. If you find the replacement interior... Send it my way. After these VW's, I'm practically a specialist now.

The Cobalt's brakes just committed suicide. One minute I had brakes, the next... *grind, shake, screech, clank* It feels like the front pads decided to disintegrate. It was very sudden. I knew I would probably need brakes soon, but I certainly wasn't expecting that. I haven't had any time to inspect them, but needless to say, it can't be driven like this. I have half the braking power and its very obviously doing further damage by the sounds and vibrations its making. I hear and feel more from the left side, so it may just be the front left. Another random issue: My ignition release is being screwy. Turning off the key requires hitting the shift lever a few times before the key will release. It use to be an every now and then sort of thing. Now its every single time. I definitely just about emptied my bank account on the Golf, too. I might as well work on getting the final touches done so I can drive it instead. My latest shipment of parts just arrived today.
  9. I've found that when I decide drink about a quarter bottle of vodka, I end up being a good 3 hours late to work the next day.
  10. Slash - "Nothing To Say" featuring M. Shadows.
  11. Sneak preview:
  12. All the gay boys love VWs. It's a known fact. I've only had one positive reaction to my Cobalt and, strangely enough, he called it "cute".
  13. I do love the idea of a tuned Cabrio. Perhaps a VR6 swap.
  14. The first time I find a junked 1999.5 to 2002 Cabrio, there's about half a car's worth of parts I plan on taking.
  15. Ferrari California. They need to reconsider the exhaust system. It's a damn Ferrari, it shouldn't have a muffled sound!
  16. DeTomaso Pantera. Sexy.
  17. Dodge Charger. Hated it... despised it. Nowadays, its actually attractive compared to the rest of Chrysler's stable.
  18. Okay... Here's the second question. Where in the hell do you find these junkyards? There is not a single "you pull it" type junkyard in this area and I'm not sure how to find one nearest to me. All the junkyards here act more as parts stores that a few things they think they'll need, and send the car to the crusher. I've called, I've asked, no one has anything I need. I'd like to eventually upgrade to a set of leather seats for my Golf to match the leather door panels I have for it. I'd also like to avoid VWVortex as good sets of leather seats can be seen going for $300 or more. Any less and there's noticeable wear and completely trashed bolsters.
  19. At the usual you-pull type Junkyards, how much money can you expect to pay for a complete set of seats?
  20. I'm not a big luxo-barge sort of guy but things like the Audi A8 and BMW 7er (older and used, of course) always make me think twice. I'd totally a rock an Eldorado, too.
  21. As mentioned in the other thread, my Cutlass' bucket seats. No support, no bolstering, hardly any cushioning, and absolutely no adjustment. You sat at one gansta-rivaling angle all the f**king time.
  22. As another random little note, my Cobalt's seats rank up (or down, rather) there with the Cutlass' seats. They just aren't comfortable no matter how much I adjust them. The Cutlass' problem was the complete lack of adjustment and, well, pretty much everything else, too.
  23. My Jetta. The shape, the bolstering, and the cushioning were all pretty fantastic. The worst was absolutely my Cutlass' buckets.
  24. I generally average anywhere from 28 to 32. I wasn't expecting to get almost 42 after an entire tank. Though, the elevation decrease from NWPA to NYC surely helped. The drive back home, I averaged 35.
